The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 47

Three weeks pass by in no time, and we are literally hours away from the coronation. My parents and brother, along with the entire pack, are on their way here for the celebration. His parents came over last night and to say his mother has been driving me crazy would be an understatement. I love her but she goes crazy planning events and this one has been no different even though I had everything planned down to the last item. She is driving the kitchen staff crazy shouting out orders and checking every little thing they do. If that wasn’t bad enough, she almost made the seamstress cry saying that she would have to do my dress over because there weren’t any diamonds on the dress and as future Queen, I needed diamonds. At that point, I kicked her out and told her to go and check on the boys’ tuxedos and to see how they were doing. I knew that once her husband got a hold of her, things would calm down.

My gown was done in the royal colors and was off the shoulders with a corset top. The gown was absolutely beautiful but also heavy. I was not used to wearing anything like this, so I practiced walking around in it with my heels. The same maids from the last time helped me to bathe and get dressed, as well as combed my hair and applied my makeup. Looking outside, I could see that the sun was shining, and the weather seemed to be in our favor. For some reason I wasn’t nervous, at least I wasn’t until David knocked on my door to tell me that I had twenty minutes before we had to walk down. Nobody was allowed to see me before the ceremony other than those that dressed me. Alex said he wanted everyone to see me at the same time, including him. No one has seen my dress, but that’s the way that I wanted it this time. The inside of my dress had secret pockets sown in to conceal daggers and my corset also had secret compartments for mini throwing knives. Being a royal comes with enemies and I was taking no chances at this coronation.

Two weeks ago, I started to receive threatening messages in our room. Whoever it was must know Alex and I’s schedules because they would leave the notes in different places that I would be alone. The last one came last night. It was in the library when I walked in placed on the bookshelf of romance novels that I usually frequent. The note warned me that if I didn’t step down as Alex’s mate and Queen, I wouldn’t make it to the ceremony. I’ve never backed down from a fight and I won’t stop now. I didn’t take any of the threats seriously and just assumed they were from some former lover of Alex’s that was jealous and obviously obsessed. They’d get over it once I was crowned or I’d beat reality into them. Now that I look back at the way things turned out, I should have told someone about the letters, but I can’t change that now.

There’s a knock at the door and David tells me that it is time, but before I go to the door something on my nightstand catches my eye and I walk over to it. There’s a note there and I turn it over to read, “This is your last chance. Back out or pay the consequences.” I balled the paper up and throw it into the trash can, or so I thought it landed inside, and walked to the door. David was standing there in his tuxedo which was also done in the royal colors. He looked very handsome, I must say. Over his eyes though was a blindfold.

“David what’s with the blindfold?”

“Your mate is very serious about no one seeing you in the dress until you reach the hall and walk in. You’re going to have to lead us both there my lady.” We both laugh and I hook my arm through his as we begin our walk down the grand staircase to the wedding hall.

Unknown POV

I watch from the shadows as she walks towards the wedding hall with the royal Beta on her arm. Why didn’t she heed the warnings? Did she think we wouldn’t do what we said? “She is almost as arrogant as her mate, but that will all change as soon as we have her. Once our leader gets a hold of her, he will break all that arrogance out of her, then kill her right in front of that Lycan King. Once his blood rage kicks in, everyone will be so busy trying to stop his killing spree that we’ll just walk right in and take over the kingdom. Anyone that doesn’t bow to our leader will be killed and those that do will be enslaved. It is time for them to know what it feels like to be treated like trash.” I say low enough for only my ears.

As I follow behind them, I stick to the shadows so that I’m not seen before it is time. Our leader made us all put on a masking potion so that even the Lycans can’t smell our scents, but the potion on lasts for an hour give or take so we have to be swift in our mission. My job is to shoot a knock out dart into her when she is standing in front of the door waiting to be announced. This is the tricky part because the stupid witch we hired doesn’t know if the dosage will be enough to knock her out before the doors open or not, so we are taking a gamble. “I hate witches” says my wolf and I’m inclined to agree with her.

She’s now standing in front of the door and the royal beta leaves her there and enters the room. Since this is a coronation and not like a human wedding, she walks down the aisle by herself, so this is the prime time to grab her. I move quietly from the shadows, but just enough to take aim and shoot the dart into her neck. Thank goodness she is wearing her hair up. She moves her hand to her neck and turn around as if she can sense someone here, so I quickly move back to the side and mind-link my team telling them to get ready to move in, but when my eyes clear, she is standing in front of me. Damn Lycans.
