The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 41

David and I laugh and Alex just rolls his eyes and pulls the drape from the mirror. The woman I see before me looks absolutely stunning. My hair is in big curls handing loose down my back with the left side pinned with a gorgeous silver pin in the shape of a wolf. My hair is shining like there is diamond dust sprinkled strategically throughout and my dress hugs my curves in fabulously. Now it is my turn to have my jaw drop, and Alex being Alex, puts a finger under my chin to close my mouth before whispering in my ear. “You are the most gorgeous woman in the world, and I’m glad you’re mine.” By the time we reach the ballroom, the party is in full swing. There are couples making out, people dancing, and some eating and drinking. David walked me over to the bar and we each got a glass of champagne. Alex had to go up to the balcony until the moon rose which would signify midnight and my birthday. Now that I had David alone, I could finally ask how the situation in the dining room was handled.

“David, what was explained to everyone about what happened in the dining room? I mean technically I did attack the King in his own home. Why haven’t I been punished or at least called by the court?” He chuckled and smiled.

“You really don’t know, do you?”

“Know what?”

“There hasn’t been a council in centuries, hell almost a millenia, and the court is Alex. He is judge, jury, and executioner. One of his forever ago grandparents did away with the council after he found there was corruption within and said that from then on only the King would decide the fate of the guilty. We believe that is why the ‘lie detector’ gene is so prominent in Alex now. Ever since that decision was made, the King and even the Queen in some cases, have been able to better tell if someone is lying or not. Though according to the past monarchs, like his parents and grandparents, they all say that Alex is the strongest and has the most abilities. He even has some that none of the ones in the past had. It is scary at times to know he has that much strength and power but if you know him then you know that he’d never misuse those powers.”

“Okay so you’re saying that I’m not in trouble for attacking him and he is this very powerful Lycan?”

“Yep.”

“The way he acts, you’d never guess that he was so powerful. I mean of course he is powerful being the Lycan King, but to have so much power that not even your family knows where it came from is a bit scary as you said. Yet, I must admit I’m very proud of him and turned on.” I giggle as I see David blush at that last part.

As time goes by, more mates find each other and others pair up to dance or hang out with their friends. I hear my name being called and turn to see Renee and my family heading towards David and I. Once they reach us, everyone hugs or shakes hands and then the many questions about what it is like living here start along with the embarrassing questions about whether Alex and I have finished the mating ritual. My brother starts to sniff the air and keeps asking if we smell fresh sugar cookies and we all just look at him weird, all of us except my parents.

The woman that I saw in Alex’s office that day comes waltzing into the ballroom like she owns the place. Honestly, I cannot wait to set the record straight on who Alex belongs to in just another hour. She’s heading towards the balcony and I start to head that way as well when suddenly her head turns in the direction of our group, and a distressed groan leaves my mouth before I can help myself. “Please don’t let her be my brother’s mate.” I keep chanting over and over again. When she makes her way towards us and stops in front of our group, I fear that my prayers have not been answered. My whole world seems to start spinning and a look of surprise comes over my face when they both say the word “Mate” at the same time. Goddess help us all. We all stare at the woman and Zach as he pushes his way closer to the front to be near her. They stare into each other’s eyes and a smile comes across Zach’s features as he looks into her eyes. I look at her and see that she is smiling as well, but just when I think that she is finally out of my way with Alex, her smile turns to sadness and then a frown. What is wrong with her? Oh no, she better not be thinking of doing what I think she is going to do. That would devastate Zach and I’d rip her heart out for hurting him. I look at David and mind-link him saying that I believe she is about to reject him. He looks at me in shock and says that is impossible because Alex commanded her to not be able to do that until at least a week after they’ve met.

Looking at David in shock for a few minutes at this news, I see his eyes glaze over and I know that he is talking to someone, so I turn my attention back to the new mates. Zach looks nervous and she looks like she is hesitating or fighting with her counterparts to either do or not do something. I’m not about to let her hurt him so I step closer to both of them and put on my biggest smile.

“Congratulations to both of you on finding each other. I hope that you both have many years of love and companionship ahead of you.” Renee and my parents jump in as well and start to congratulate them both and the frown on her face turns back into a smile. A look of relief comes over Zachs face and he grabs her hand and walks her over to the bar for drinks and more privacy. I closed my eyes and let out a breath that I didn’t realize I was holding and when I opened them, everyone but David was looking at me with curious looks on their faces.

“It is a story for another time, but the short version is that I had a feeling she was going to reject him.”

“How do you know that dear?” said my mother.

“I don’t know mom. It was just a feeling that I had when I saw her face change.”

“Yeah, I noticed that too. I wonder what changed her mind.” said my father.

“The King may have something to do with that, and he wants to see us now.” said David.

“Wait a minute. I thought for certain that Nick was her mate because he said he smelled sugar cookies and I know for a fact that those are not on the menu, but when she came over Zach called her his mate. If she is Zach’s mate then why was Nick smelling sugar cookies?”

“Luna, I have no idea, but we need to go now. All of us need to go now. He is on edge and you have seen twice what he gets like when something is bothering him. The last thing we need is for him to lose it here in front of everyone and...” before he could finish his sentence, we heard a growl and then Alex shouting and asking what someone was doing here.

Quickly I looked to the bar and saw that the woman, I refuse to say her name, was still seated at the bar with Zach. I sigh with relief before heading for the stairs that led to the balcony. Alex and I are going to have to work on his damn temper because I refuse to ruin this dress trying to keep him from acting out. I feel myself getting angrier as I go up each step. When I reach the top I yell his name but stop when I see an attractive blonde woman standing next to him and his hands are shaking.

“Alex, please explain to me why every time I leave you alone something or someone pisses you off and is usually a woman?” I then turn to the woman and start walking closer. “Look, I don’t know or care what you had with Alex in the past but it ends now. I’m seriously getting sick of all of you and it has only been two weeks.”

David bursts out laughing and I glare at him until he stops, but then Alex starts laughing and David starts up again. The blonde starts giggling and my feet start moving before I can stop myself. I’m going to slap the giggles right out of her. Before I can reach her, Alex sobers up and grabs me around my waist and spins me away from her which only infuriates me even more.

“Calm down my love. Nothing has ever or will ever happen between me and her. I’m not into incest.”

My body relaxes at his touch and his words. Did he say incest? That would mean that she is his sister.
