The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 62

I filled them in on everything else the Goddess had told me about being Goddess Blessed and Goddess Kissed. My mother said that she had always felt something stir inside her, but she could never figure out what the feeling was and thought it was part of the mate bond, but when it didn’t happen when she met my father, she just forgot about the feeling. We talked some more about everything, but I noticed that someone was missing. “Where is Nick?”

My parents looked at each other before telling me that he was injured during the battle and has been recovering. He should be fine in another week or so, but that wasn’t good enough for me. I swing my legs to the side of the bed and let my feet touch the floor. I make sure that I’m steady while standing before I try to start walking. My father comes to stand next to me and takes my arm. “Take me to Nick please daddy.”

A nurse comes in and tells me that she doesn’t think I should be moving around yet. I tell her that I feel amazing and if at any time I don’t feel well, I will come back to my bed. The last part makes her let me go and as quickly as I can, we head to another room down the hall. We enter the room and Nick is lying in bed asleep. I walked up to him and just like with Shayla, I put my hand over his heart and let the healing magic out. His body glows for a few moments and the light fades. I watch as his eyes flutter open and a smile light up his face when he sees me.

“Freya, you’re back! I’ve missed you so much sis. How are you?”

“I’m feeling great. Starting to get a little tired, but I’ll be fine if I sit down. How much do you know about what is going on with Alex?”

“I don’t know much. The last I saw of him; he told me to head back here to get medical attention and told me not to worry about you. He said no matter what, that he would get you back. I left because I saw in his eyes that he was telling the truth.”

“Well, I’m glad that you listened and got the help you need. I would hate to have come back only to find out my brother was dead.”

“I’m glad I came back too, otherwise I don’t think my mate would have forgiven me.” Shaniece walks up to us and smiles at him.

“No I definitely would not have forgiven you. We just found each other and I’m not ready for you to leave me just yet.” She giggles.

“That’s only because you’ve just met him. Give it a couple of years and you’ll beg our parents to take him away.” I smirk at my brother, and he frowns at me which makes Shaniece and everyone else laugh.

“Now that everyone is healed and happy, can we please figure out a way to get my best friend and our King back? I’m not trying to be a downer here, but this matter is very urgent.”

I look at David and know that what he said is right. We’ve had enough fun and now we need to figure out how to get my mate back under control. My mind starts to wander to what he could be up to right now. Wondering if he is hurting or killing an innocent person. I reach out to my wolf and Lycan and tell them to find out what Khal and Stryker may be up to at the moment.

“They are sleeping Freya. I’m trying to see if I can get a location. Seems like they are in some kind of cave surrounded by willow trees. I could probably find them, but it would take a while.” says Seraphina.

“Try whatever you can. We need to save our mates.”

The link goes quiet, and I turn to my family and let them know that Seraphina thinks she may have a location. After a few more minutes with everyone, I admit to being tired and ready to go to sleep. Everyone tells me good night and heads to their rooms. That night I dreamed of Alex and I in the future happy with our families. We’re having another mate ball and everyone is having a great time finding their mates or just mingling with one another. Alliances are formed with some of the packs and there is just a great feel all around. I have a secret that I am about to tell Alex, which is that I’m pregnant with our first child, when suddenly there is a loud explosion in the courtyard. We all rush out to find nothing but smoke, fire, and dead bodies littering the ground. “I told you that I would make all of you pay and this kingdom will be mine!” I recognize him instantly, but before anyone can attack, two things happen. One, the guy vanishes in a cloud of black smoke and two, Alex falls to the ground with a wound on his chest pouring blood. I scream and try to stop the bleeding, but nothing works. Alex dies in my arms.

I wake up screaming and full of sweat. That was nothing more than a dream and the Goddess told me that he can’t be killed, so why did I have that dream? It must just be the stress of the situation causing my mind to make up things as I sleep. Getting out of bed, I make my way to the bathroom and take a shower to rinse the stickiness from my skin. Once clean again, I change into a nightgown and sit in the reclining chair in my room. “There has to be a way to reach Alex. I need him to believe that I am alive and get him back here so that we can go after the guy that kidnapped me. They told me that he is my mother’s first mate, and I know that he plans on making Alex and my mother pay for losing his mate in the first place. “Some people just don’t know how to take responsibility for their own mistakes. I’ll never understand how you mess up your own life and blame others for your downfall.” I get sleepy and make my way to the bed and drift off trying to think of a way to reach Alex.

The next day, I didn’t wake up until well passed noon but according to the doctor I needed the rest. Compared to yesterday, I am feeling so much better and stronger. My family and friends visit me and try to uplift my mood about not finding a solution to our problem which is getting worse according to the reports from the scouts. David looks exhausted and his mate looks worried. Something has to be done and soon. I don’t know how much longer David can keep this pace up and legally I have no authority to step in and take over. Alex’s father helps as much as he can to run the kingdom and I’m grateful for that much.

We’d been working on ways to get his wolf and Lycan to listen to us, but we kept hitting dead ends. My own wolf and Lycan were growled at ferociously after being called liars by their mates and then blocked. They’ve been hurt and sulking ever since that happened and retreated to the back of my mind. I can’t blame them because if Alex ever talked to me that way, I’d feel aweful as well. Everyone is talking and discussing strategies when someone comes over and sits next to me. He gives me a sad smile and I return it before sighing and looking around the room. “David, what are we going to do? I can’t reach him or feel him anymore. When I could feel Khal and Stryker, they were so full of rage and fury that it was overwhelming. They truly believe that my wolf and Lycan were some trick to get them to stop and come home. We need to stop them before they ruin Alex’s life.”

David just sits there for a few minutes and just when I think he isn’t going to say anything, his eyes light up as if he just thought of something. I look at him with the last of my hopes and wait for him to speak. “Oh my Goddess! I don’t know how I forgot about this. Freya, we do have a way of communicating with Alex. Well, you do. You can talk directly to him. I’m such an idiot for forgetting about it this whole time.” He gets up and starts pacing back and forth. By now, everyone in the room is focused on David, and I’m sitting here looking very confused.

“David, I’ve tried every way there is to mind-link him and I haven’t been able to get through. You know what happened when my wolf and Lycan tried. They are both still so depressed that I haven’t heard from them in days.” I’m starting to get pissed off now. Is he suggesting that I haven’t tried to contact him? That’s all I’ve been doing ever since I woke up. Looking at David, I give him a death glare but he doesn’t even flinch. I used to give this glare to my brother or anyone that pissed me off, and they knew that it means I’m about ready to rip someone’s head off. Funny that it isn’t working on him. He just smiles at me like nothing is wrong. Shayla looks a bit nervous and moves to stand next to him. He pulls her in and kisses her on the forehead.

“Relax Shayla, she won’t hurt me. She couldn’t even if she wanted to, so don’t worry.” Now I’m really pissed off. Does he think that because I’ve only just found my Lycan that I’m weaker than him? I’ve always been a strong fighter and have only gotten stronger since I’ve been here training.

“And why do you think I can’t hurt you? The only one that is able to defeat me in fighting is Alex and he isn’t here to stop me.” His smile falters and is replaced with a serious face but mixed with something primal as well. If I were a lesser wolf or Lycan I’d definitely be terrified.

“There are a few reasons why I say that you can’t hurt me. The first is because I am the Royal Beta and to hurt me or even think of hurting me is considered treason especially since you are not officially a part of this pack no matter who you are mated to, even if your mate is a part of the royal family. Second, I am acting King in Alex’s absence which gives me extra abilities until he returns. Yes, that means I am stronger and faster than you. Third, I am a much better fighter than you in wolf and Lycan form. I’ve had over 200 years of fighting in all of my forms and my moves are not based mostly on instinct like yours are in Lycan form. But the final and most important reason is because Alex would never forgive you for attacking and hurting or killing his best friend. Now calm the hell down and listen because it is time for you to grow up. You cannot go around getting pissed off and ready to attack anyone that doesn’t agree with you or upset you. That is not how a Luna or Queen acts. Your mother went through hell and I’m sure there have been times even with your father that she has wanted to hurt or kill someone, but she refrains from doing that and she helps to keep her mate and Alpha from doing that as well. Alphas can be hot headed sometimes, and their instinct makes them want to do one thing, but their mates help keep them grounded. You need to learn this and learn it fast. In a way you are the mate of the subjects. Your job is to keep Alex grounded so that he doesn’t do things to jeopardize himself and the kingdom.” He pauses and some of the fight leaves me. I have no idea why I even got that upset because when I think about it, it was nothing to get that upset over. He never said I didn’t do anything to reach Alex. That was my assumption. Okay I need to calm down and stop jumping to conclusions.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to get upset with you. This whole situation has me on edge. I can’t reach my mate and that means that I have no idea how he’s feeling or what he is doing. He didn’t teach me how to do the mate tracker thing but even if he did I wouldn’t have put it on him because I never thought there would be a need to do that in the first place. I have no idea what I’m doing here or what all the rules are and I want to ask him what to do but I can’t. What the hell do I do? How do I get my mate back!” I scream and start to cry. My mother comes to me and holds me in her arms.

“Honey, you will get him back. Though I don’t agree with his approach, David is right. I know you are only 18 but you will have to grow up and learn to contain your anger. There is a time and place for everything. There were plenty of times when an enemy went after our pack or just your father and the first thing I would have said was to kill them all and be done with it, but killing is not always the answer. Sometimes you have to take a step back from the situation and evaluate it for your mate and sometimes for yourself. If you kill them, then what? These people have mates and children who a lot of times don’t know any of the dealings their mate and father is into. You have to help find better solutions. Now that’s a lesson for another time, but the point of this one is what I’ve been telling you almost your entire life. Stop being quick to anger and think things through. Learn to listen to what people are saying and not hearing what you want to hear.” She kisses my head and wipes my tears away before going back near my father.

“David please tell me what you are talking about because I don’t understand.”

“I was talking about the dream walking. When you first met Alex, it was in a dream. Well, sort of a dream. Really it is a safe place that your wolf and Lycan make up for you to go and relax. Kind of like a vacation spot inside your brain. Anyway, you were able to reach him there without his wolf and Lycan. So if you can reach him there, he can come out and know that you’re alive. His wolf and Lycan should be able to feel you there as well.”

“You’re a genius! After we moved here, he told me more about the dream walking. I didn’t know that I was even doing it at the time. He taught me how to control it since he has the same ability, but the only problem is that it has to be done at night. I’m also hoping that he will be asleep. It may still work if his wolf and Lycan are awake since his essence is not in control. Pray to the Goddess that this works because if not, we may all be in big trouble.”
