The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 72
“I love you too dad. We’ll be home as soon as we finish here. Send some people here to collect our dead and burn Tobias’ people. We’ll have ceremonies for our people as soon as we know it is safe to do so without any more threats.”
“I’ll get it done son.” The link cuts and I slowly stand up. Freya comes over to me and wraps her arms around my waist. We stand there hugging each other for what feels like forever as the witches are busy securing Tabitha. After a while, I pulled away from her and bent down to lift David into my arms.
“I need to get him back to his mate. If I can feel her hurt and pain, and I know you can too, she is feeling a million times worse. All this death for nothing. Tabitha I can understand, but Tobias was just an evil thing. I would’ve had a little bit and I do mean little, sympathy for him if he got that way due to something happening to him, but he was just pure evil for no reason.”
“Not everyone is born evil, that is a choice they make for some reason. He could have been a good mate to my mother and a great Alpha to her people if he wanted to, but instead he chose to be cruel. Bad things happen to people and some choose to stay good while some choose to go in another direction. Whether something happened to him or not, Tobias chose to be the way that he was, and that choice came at the cost of his life.” I look down into the face of my best friend.
“And at the cost of so many others. None of this should have happened.” Before anything else could be said, I heard the footsteps of what sounded like a hundred people walking our way. I’m sure that it was the recovery team coming to take back the dead bodies of our fallen soldiers. This conversation was over, and I needed to get David back home, so I told Freya we needed to leave, and she nodded her head in agreement. I could tell that she hadn’t totally recovered yet, but that she would be okay by tonight.
Once I made it to the courtyard of the castle, I saw the damage done to the property. Thankfully, there was no damage to the castle or the wall surrounding the castle. Hopefully the homes in the village below weren’t damaged as well. All of that could be looked into in due time, for now we have to deal with burying and mourning our dead, as well as taking care of a grieving witch. Tabitha was being taken to a special chamber that doesn’t allow the use of magic. The Coven of Light witches were overseeing her and working on stripping her of her powers. They already found the spell needed to do so, but they just needed to gather the ingredients. I kept walking with David in my arms until we reached the infirmary, and I placed his body onto one of the exam tables. My father and some of the others met me and Freya there, and I noticed their sorrow filled faces. Nobody said anything for a while, and I was grateful for the silence. My mind wandered as they all spoke to one another and checked up on Freya and cried over the loss of our people.
“Dad, how is she doing?” He knew who I meant without me having to say her name.
“She is sleeping for now. We managed to get her sedated in time so the only damage she managed was to her room. I hate to know how much pain she will be in when she wakes up.”
“I wish I could take the pain away from her but that isn’t possible. We will just have to find a way to help her through this tough time. After a few years or so, she should be able to deal with his death and maybe even get a second-chance mate at some point.”
Silence fell once again as we all stood around the exam room. David’s body was motionless and had lost color as he laid there. I couldn’t help but to think about how just a few hours ago he was mind-linking with him and now there was dead silence. Just then, a shimmering figure appeared and what sounded like tinkling bells cut through the silence.
“Oh you silly boy. How you tend to forget everything I’ve told you is beyond me. I’m starting to wonder if I picked the right one to be my Goddess Blessed.” Everyone in the room bowed at the presence of the Moon Goddess except for me.
“What do you mean?” I asked her.
“Did I or did I not tell you that your powers are like mine in almost every way?” She looked at me with a bright smile on her face. Everyone in the room looked at me as I racked my brain thinking back to what she and Freya had told me about my powers. My head is down in thought until something pops into my thoughts and my head snaps up to look at the Goddess. Understanding dawns on my face and I can tell that she knows I finally got it by the giggle that escapes her.
“Ahh my child you finally see, don’t you? Now make things right. Remember to call on me if you ever have any questions my blessed one.” She smiles and starts to fade away but I stop her with my next question.
“How do I help Tabitha? She did bad things, but she was driven by grief and the belief that we didn’t care. Had I known he had a mate, I never would have allowed the man to be put to death for his crimes.” There is some guilt in my heart over that happening to her all because nobody knew.
“I wish that I could help you find the answer, but I cannot. My child, unfortunately, some of my children have done horrible things for one reason or another and there is nothing that I can do to help them. Some things are even out of reach for a goddess I’m afraid. She can only be helped if she is willing to accept that she needs the help. For now, what the witches are doing will be enough to keep her out of danger and from causing it, and hopefully in time she will accept the help that she needs in order to grieve and move on. Now I could take away her memories and feelings of having a mate, but that would only be putting a band-aid on the problem because something could always happen to trigger her memories and that could make the situation even worse. Now do what you need to do, and I’ll be around whenever you need me. Goodbye for now my children and be good to each other.” She shimmers and fades away.
My feet move quickly, and I walk over to David and place one hand on his forehead and another over his heart. Everything in me seems to be moving on instinct. My powers surge through me the minute my hand touches his heart, and I can feel the power flow from me and enter his body. A blue light surrounds his body, and I can feel the blood starting to flow and his organs start to function again. Electricity is firing in his brain and his skin is starting to get warm. His heart is beating slowly at first as the blood makes its way to the chambers and his lungs inflate and deflate as air starts flowing throw them. His eyes start fluttering and after a few minutes the light around him dies down before completely vanishing. I removed my hands and his eyes opened roaming around for a few seconds before he tried to sit up. I helped him get into a sitting position.
“What happened?” he says as we all just stare at him.
