Freya’s POV

At the dinner, I sat around the table with everyone eating and drinking, buy I’m honestly not in the mood to be around anyone, but if I don’t go then they’ll bother me to tell them what is going on. “I’ll smile and make small talk for now and after dinner I’ll go back home and try to think about what to do.” For an hour I was nice and had a little fun with my family and friends. Being around them has been so hard with Alex being gone, but I try to not isolate myself as much anymore. They don’t understand how much it hurts to see them with their mates and not being able to be with mine. My hopes were so high during the dream walk last night when I smelled his scent and saw him sitting there, but when he turned around I instantly knew that it wasn’t my Alex.

After we talked, I fell into a dreamless sleep, which was new to me. For months I have been dreaming of Alex and all the happy times we shared together. I plan on having many more with him if we get through this situation. Evil Alex said that he would let him out but only after he finished his plans. Other than killing and destroying everyone and everything, what are his plans exactly? We know that he is raising an army, but for what purpose? He has the castle and kingdom basically, so why does he need an army? He could wipe everyone out on his own. Nothing about this makes any sense and it is all chaotic and illogical. Alex is a very intelligent and strategic thinker, but this guy is kind of all over the place. It almost feels as though he is rushing to do things.

Another hour passed and dinner was finally over. We all piled back into the vehicles and headed to the packhouse. I miss my home with Alex and all the new friends I made while there. Once back at the packhouse, I said goodnight to everyone and quickly made my way back upstairs for a shower. Crawling into bed I began to wonder if he would keep his word about letting Alex out when he was done. Would it be so bad to just let him carry out his plan and handle whatever the aftermath is than to keep trying to figure out solutions? I know in my heart that I cannot let that happen, but a part of me just wants to say screw it. Alex would hate me, and I’d hate myself having all those innocent people’s deaths on my hands. I’m not strong enough to revive all those people on my own and they’d be dead too long to wait for Alex to return so the only choice is to come up with a plan to get him back sooner. “He owes me one hell of a honeymoon after all of this madness.”

The next morning, I get up and go for a run before breakfast and then go to training. When I get to the training grounds nobody is there and I remember that everyone has the week off. “Well, that’s just great. I’ll train on weapons then since I can’t spar with anyone.”

“Hey sis. Did you forget we are taking the week off?”

“Yeah, I did. I was hoping to get some hand to hand in this morning and release some of this energy. I’ll just train with weapons.”

“I’ll spar with you if you want.”

“No offense big brother, but not even the elite guard can spar with me. Alex is the only one that can beat me. I was hoping David or Ethan would be around but I’m sure they are spending much needed time with their mates.” He chuckles.

“I’m sure they are and that’s a good thing. How are you holding up?”

“I’m as good as I can be Nick. I can’t feel him. Well, I feel something, but it feels wrong. There’s all this rage and hate and a little sadness flows through our bond now.”

“Things will be better once we get him back. You’ll feel nothing but his love for you.”

“Will I? Or will he be so changed after this that I won’t know who he is? I’m worried that when he is finally back, he won’t be the same.”

“You’ll help him. That’s what mates are for sis. It may take time, but he will eventually get back to himself.”

“I hope you’re right. How have things been going here with your mate and Zach?”

“Shaniece is definitely a handful but she’s the best. At first, I was worried about bringing her back here being that she’s a princess, but she fit right in and everyone loves her.” He laughs. “At times she has to be reminded that she is a Luna now, so going off and partying is not an option all the time. She ends up pouting and sometimes I cave in but only if her Luna duties are done or mom usually rescues her. Dad and I just sit back and let it happen because you know how mom can get.” We both laugh. I remember all too well how my mother can be when she wants something.

“And how is Zach and Michelle?” His face turns serious again.

“They had some issues at first. She’s used to living a certain way and though Zach is wealthy as is everyone in the pack, she wasn’t too happy about being put on a budget. Her spending was out of control decorating their home. I’m happy to say they are much better now, and she is doing so much better also. She was depressed and full of anger, but it wasn’t at Alex. On day she ended up telling us everything about what her father had done since she was little. The stories she told us made us both angry and sad for her. Nobody should have to go through all of that, but he was determined to have her marry Alex to elevate their family status. I mean how much higher did he want to go because they were already best friends with the former king and queen.”

“That’s good. I’m glad they are doing better and that Michelle is settling in nicely. I wasn’t too worried about Shaniece, but I have to admit that I wasn’t too sure about Michelle. A part of me still wonders if even though she said she was never into Alex, did she really mean that or was she just saying it to get back at her father?”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, her father was in custody and going to prison, so did she say what she did in Alex’s office because she wanted to pay him back somehow? Alex told me about what happened in the office while I was kidnapped. Michelle told them about the witch he had hired to get around his Alpha commands and that she was never interested in Alex but did everything her father told her. I don’t know Nick. Maybe I’m only feeling this way because I’m jealous that I can’t be with my own mate right now.”

“There’s no need for you to be jealous. I can’t say that I understand what it’s like to not have your mate around after you’ve found them, but I’m confident that your bond with Alex is strong and he can feel you even if you aren’t feeling him right now. I’m sure he is fighting to be with you just as much as you’re fighting to be with him.”

“You’re right. Alex is a fighter and I’m sure he is doing his best to get back to me.”
