The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 60

“Dear Moon Goddess, please protect my brothers and all the other prisoners from this madman. Please forgive me for what I did to Freya and the King. Also please protect the King and help him find his way back home to his mate. I don’t think I’ve thanked you for allowing me to be found and for allowing me to find my mate. Thank you for making him the kind and patient man that he is and for still wanting me even with all my faults.”

After praying to the Moon Goddess, I hear a knock at the door and quickly go to open it before the noise wakes David. He hasn’t been sleeping well and sometimes not at all, and the last thing I want is for him to be woken up. If it isn’t an emergency, then I would not wake him. He may be a Lycan, but he still needs rest to function properly. Being the beta, he has been in charge since the King is missing and Freya is not legally the luna or queen even though she is the King’s mate. The ceremony for inauguration was canceled and that was partly my fault, but by law she is not the leader. That doesn’t matter anyway since she is currently in a coma.

I open the door and am greeted by an Omega, and she looks a bit nervous. My mate has been pretty cranky and snapping at people lately. From what I hear, he is usually easy-going and a bit playful, so this change in behavior has taken its toll on everyone around, except for me. Giving her a smile, I told her to calm down because he is currently sleeping. She visibly relaxes and then tells me that the doctor said he believes Freya may wake up soon based off of her new brain wave activity. After delivering the message, I thanked her and told her that I will let him know immediately.

“Who was at the door?” My mate is behind me rubbing his eyes.

“It was one of the omegas. She said that the doctor wanted you to know Freya may be waking up soon due to recent brain activity. I know you are going to go, but can you please have something to eat first before you go at least? I’m worried about you. You’re not sleeping and eating properly. I understand that you have so much on your shoulders now but what good are you going to be to anyone if you drop from exhaustion? We all serve them, and what I’m about to say may be wrong, but if it ever comes down to them or you, baby I’m picking you. I’ve waited for you for a long time, not as long as you’ve waited for me, but I’ve waited. My parents died when I was 16 and I had to raise my two brothers after being kicked from our pack. You are my family now and I will protect you at all costs, even from the King and Queen.” I said this with all the love that I have for him, because I want, no, I need him to know how much he means to me and how much he has changed my life in only three weeks.

“Shayla, I feel the same way about you, and what you said was not wrong. I know Alex, and he would agree with you. Our mates are a blessing and the greatest gift we can ever receive. Your mate is your perfect other half, and usually are the complete opposite of you, but you just fit. There will be times where we will fight but at the end of the day, we will come together and compromise.” He pulls me into a hug and promises that he will eat something before leaving, so we head down to the dining room and pick something from the snack bars that have been put out recently due to all the people staying in the castle. Freya’s father brought the entire pack with them when the fighting happened, and some allies showed up days later from what I hear. Nobody really talks to me here unless they have to, otherwise my only companion is David. The omegas are nice, but they work here, and I never get to interact with them much.

After eating our snack of cheese, bread, apples, and nuts, we head to the infirmary where Freya is, and I stay close to his side. The two families don’t like me and blame me for everything that has happened, and I don’t blame them. David says they need to get over it, because if the Moon Goddess isn’t mad about what happened then neither should they, and he knows that Alex and Freya won’t be angry once they know everything that happened. He tells me that he didn’t tell them my story because it is my story and only, I should say who gets to know and when. I thanked him for that, because right now I feel like only Freya, David, and the King need to know why I did what I did, and they can decide later if they need to share my story with the others. Right now, I can’t deal with telling anyone about what happened to me at the hands of those people. I’ve never felt so dirty and unclean in my life. I took so many showers and baths when I first got here that I almost scrubbed the skin off of my body. Hugging and forehead kisses are as close to intimacy as I can get with my mate. It frustrates me and it isn’t fair to him. They took so much from us.

We are near the room, and I can hear at least five heartbeats in the waiting area. My heartbeat starts to race because I know two of them are Alphas. I met Alexander and Freya’s father, and neither of them are happy with me. There is one more Alpha I am told and that is Freya’s brother, but he was being treated at the time. I’m not looking forward to seeing them again. David takes my hand and gives a slight squeeze before intertwining our fingers. Instantly I calm down as we turn the corner and see the Alphas, their mates and one woman that I haven’t seen before, but they are all scowling at me. I move to stand behind David, but he holds tight to my hand keeping me in place. He mind-links me and reminds me that we do everything together and we will be united even in front of them. Turning my head, I look up into his handsome face and give a slight nod.
