Alex’s POV

Today is the day that I get to make Freya my mate in every way. I was up early to attend to some pack and royal business but all I could think about was Freya. Until I met her I never knew that I could love someone so much and in such a short amount of time. My parents always tried to tell me what the bond would feel like and I must say that it is nothing like they described. In fact, it is a million times better. She is my first thought in the morning and last thought before I fall asleep. Sleeping has been hard without her, but I stole one of her shirts when she sent them to the laundry and keep it near my pillow. Her scent helps keep me calm enough to fall asleep and when my rage starts to take hold. There are some things that we need to discuss before we complete the mating which is why I want her parents present after the ball and her birthday party. This will be a long day and night for me having to pretend that we are not mates. Now that I think about it, maybe I should have picked a different dress for her to wear tonight. The only reason I picked it is because the necklace and bracelet that I got her for her birthday present will go perfectly with the dress and shoes.

Hours later I am dressed in a tuxedo with a silver handkerchief in the pocket and waiting in my office with David for Freya to come down. One of the maids told me that she was very anxious to see what she looked like, and I told her to not let her see herself until she met with me. I wanted to see her reaction. Freya is very smart, headstrong, ruthless when she is protecting someone she cares about, but also has a kind and loving side. She knows how beautiful she is, but I think that is only from the compliments from others, and tonight I want her to see exactly how beautiful she is for herself. Ten minutes pass and she is walking into my office and my mouth drops open at the sight of her. The dress hugs her curves perfectly and all I want to do is send David away and tear that dress right off and mate her.

Her long black hair is curled with a pin holding the left side back and flowing down her back. I’ve only seen her with her hair in a high ponytail, so this look is stunning on her. The dress covers the top part of her large breasts and is snug all the way to her waist then it flares out a bit. I probably should have paid better attention because I knew the dress had splits, but I didn’t know how high up they went until now when the dress is on her. This woman will be the death of me. My wolf and Lycan are both demanding that I take the dress off her and mate her right now, but I can’t do that yet. We must wait until her birthday. The reason for this is so that we can publicly claim that we are each other’s mates. The last thing I need is someone to claim that we are not mates and that I have taken a chosen one. No matter what Michelle believes, there are certain people that would not be alright with me taking a chosen mate, not that I would have anyway.

When she sees herself in the mirror, I love her reaction. She looks as though she finally believed what I’ve been saying about her being gorgeous. Her eyes light up and the green in the hazel is now a lot more prominent. I’ve noticed that when she is excited this tends to happen. A light blush comes over her cheeks and I just must kiss her, but somehow, I manage to hold back knowing that if I kiss her now, it will not end there.

Finally, we left my office, and it pains me to leave her with David, but I must for now. They turn left and I go right with some guards and head to a secret door that leads to a staircase that goes up onto the balcony. This whole night will be torture, but completely worth it in the end. My Beta will watch over her until we can be together at midnight. For now, I look out over the entire ballroom at my subjects and am happy to see many matches are being made tonight. This ball has been successful, and I am looking forward to having many more in the future. Freya is walking over to her family and friends, and I must stop a growl from leaving my lips when I see Zachariah. That guy is in love with my mate and all I want to do is rip his head from his shoulders, but I must refrain from doing that, so I turn my gaze to others in the room. As I’m surveying the room a scent hits me that I know should not be here and it sets my teeth on edge.

“Savannah what the hell are you doing here? You are supposed to be in France.”

“Oh, calm down big brother. I am not here to cause you any trouble or stress. Mother and Father thought I should come home for the Mate Ball. They think finding my mate may calm me down. Honestly, I am surprised they even remembered they had a daughter.” She says that last part low, but I could still hear her of course.

“You know they sent you away for your own good.”

“That’s a lie and we both know it, Alexander! They sent me away because I wouldn’t act the way they think I should act! I am sick and tired of everyone thinking they know what is best for me and my life! You all know nothing!” Her voice is raised and that only pisses off my wolf and Lycan. She may be my sister and a royal princess, but I am still her King and deserve to be respected.

“YOU WILL NOT SPEAK TO ME IN THAT MANNER AGAIN! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME? LOWER YOUR VOICE AND SHOW SOME RESPECT TO YOUR KING AND BROTHER!” Her head bows and she take a step back from me. “Oh, don’t be ridiculous Savannah. You know damn well that I won’t hurt you.” I scoffed and turned away from her just as I received a mind-link from my Beta that Michelle found her mate with Zachariah but that she looked as though she would reject him. That is impossible since I commanded her to not do that until they’ve spent at least a week together. That is the second command that she has found a way out of obeying. Something is definitely wrong here and I will get to the bottom of it.
