The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 101

After he leaves, I give myself a little more time to rest before I gather a few things and teleport to Freya’s old pack. I reappear right in front of the gates and stop to think about what I am about to do here. Telling them anything would probably have him attempt to punish me, which he absolutely can do now that those powers have been unlocked, but I’m betting on the fact that he doesn’t have control over them yet to do anything to me. His dark magic is powerful but I’m more experienced than he is so it would be more of an even playing field.

The guards are walking around patrolling the area but they haven’t noticed me yet. Just as I’m about to teleport through the gates, one of the guards sees me and starts to make his way towards me. “HEY, YOU THERE! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? STATE YOUR BUSINESS!” I simply smile at him and wave before disappearing in a cloud of smoke and reappearing in what seem to be the training grounds. There’s a bunch of dummies and work out equipment outside with a huge gym next to the grounds.

An alarm sounds and people start to run around frantically, and I can do nothing but laugh to myself. Wolves always amazed me at how territorial they can be and Lycans are even worse. I remember when a wolf wandered onto our property once, and my mate was so upset because the wolf was an unmated male rogue. He chased him off and after that I put up wards. I’m still not sure how the King’s guards got through them.

“Laughing alone can be a sign of insanity.” A female voice says. I’d know that voice anywhere though and I turn to face her.

“Hello again Freya. Sadly, we don’t have time for pleasantries. You need to gather everyone because we need to talk about Alex.” A look of worry and concern comes over her face at the mention of her mate.

“What happened to him? Did you hurt him?” She’s starting to shake, and I know that her wolf and Lycan are ready to come out.

“As far as I know, your Alex is fine, but we need to discuss his other part.”

“What do you mean his other part?” She genuinely looks confused.

“Oh goodness, I thought you knew what you were dealing with but the look on your face tells me otherwise. We have no time to waste. Is there somewhere we can talk?” She looks at me skeptically before nodding her head and leading me to their packhouse conference room.

When we arrive, her parents and in-laws are there as well as her brother and his beta and their mates. I also saw Alex’s beta and his mate. Once the door is shut, everyone starts speaking at once and I put my hands over my ears to lessen the noise. Someone shouts for everyone to be quiet and slowly I take my hands away from my ears.

“Everyone, Tabitha has come here to bring us some news and I feel we should listen to her.” says Freya. I open my mouth to speak when someone asks why they should listen to me after all that I’ve done.

“You should listen because I’m here to help you. Now, do you want to hear what I have to say or do you want to continue wasting time because I have to get back before he goes looking for me. I’m not trying to die before schedule.” They all just look at me.

“Tabitha, I wish you would quit talking about dying. You said something about that the night of the party.” says Freya.

“Freya we all can’t be lucky to live our lives with our mate. That’s why I’m going to help you. I never want anyone to go through the pain I’ve felt for years. Alex won’t die physically, but a part of him will die and you will feel it and I’m sorry that I can’t stop that part from happening but I’m hoping to lessen it. I’ll get straight to the point of my being here. Alex has unlocked his powers with my help. The good news is that he doesn’t know how to use them. I gave him different scenarios and told him that I can’t help him. Right now he should be in a quiet place meditating to calm his mind. I stalled for as long as I could to give you all a chance to stop him before now, but you all have been dragging your asses. He was starting to get irritable and aggravated with every failed potion, which I botched on purpose by the way.”

“Why did you do that?” asks an older gentleman that resembles Alex.

“Because as I said, I don’t want him to go too far that he can’t come back like me. I’m leaving this world, but he has a mate and family to deal with not to mention a kingdom to answer to when all of this is done.”

“Why didn’t you stop him before any of this got started?” asks a guy that resembles Freya but is too young to be her father.

“I tried young Alpha, but there’s only so much I could do without giving too much away. You see the spell that the witch’s cast was to bring out his darkness and take full control of him, but I switched a few things and made the spell non-binding. Had they bound him with that spell we’d be in more trouble than we are now.”

“How do we know what you’re telling us is true?” asks beta David.

“You don’t, but that’s not my concern. I did my part in telling you. All I wanted to do was tell Freya what was going on. Oh, and no Freya, we never slept together. The whole thing with him taking me as a mate was an act. I’m sorry if that hurt you, but he has slept with other women, mainly omegas.”

“Yeah, I know he’s been sleeping around. Are you telling me the truth about not sleeping with him?”

“Freya you’re a Lycan, do you smell him on me?” I looked at her like she’d grown two heads. “Besides, your mate is handsome but not my type. I’m not completely over my mate but I’m moving past some of the hurt. It’s the only way I can end this life peacefully.” Someone coughs and I turn towards the noise to see a beautiful girl sitting next to Beta David and I’m surprised I hadn’t noticed her before now. Looking at her features, she looks very familiar to me. Something pulls me towards her and I feel my feet moving of their own accord. When I stop walking, I am two feet away from her and I ask what her name is without getting any closer. Her mate has his arm wrapped around her waist protectively, but she doesn’t seem scared of me and that makes me feel oddly good.

“My name is Shayla.” She says and gives a small but sweet smile and when she does something in me breaks. That smile looks so familiar.

“Where are you from?”

“I’m not really sure. I was adopted and was told my real father died, but nobody was ever sure about my birth mother. I’ve assumed that she died as well after all these years.”

“Were you told their names?” I don’t know why but I need to know the answer to this question.

“Tabitha why are you asking her these questions?” asked Freya.

“I don’t know why but I feel like I should know her.”

“I was told my father’s name but not my mother’s. His name was Darryl.” I step back and put a hand over my heart. My heartbeat picked up and I needed more than anything to know the last name.

“Shayla, was his name Darryl Arceneaux?” She simply nods her head yes and looks at me confused.

“How did you know that? I’ve never told anyone his name.” I slowly sink into the seat that is behind me.

“Because Darryl Arceneaux was my mate, which means dear girl that you are my daughter.”

A collective gasp is heard in the room and Shayla faints but her mate catches her. When I thought things couldn’t possibly get any more complicated a man comes bursting into the room and runs up to me before kneeling in front of me and yells, “MATE!”

“Oh hell!” I say as another gasp and murmurs are heard in the room.

“What the hell is happening right now?” someone asks.

“Uh, apparently Shayla is her daughter and Dylan is her mate. Well, he’s her second chance mate and she is his.” someone else speaks. My head is swimming with all of this new information. None of this can happen now. I was so close to leaving this world and moving on to live with my first mate. I thought only certain Lycans got second chance mates? No no no no no. This can’t be happening. Someone needs to explain to me what is happening. My body is filled with so much anxiety that I temporarily lose control of my fires and shoot a fireball across the room narrowly hitting a woman standing next to the man I now know to be Freya’s brother. Freya lifts her hand and makes the fireball dissipate.

Quickly I stood up and ran out of the room. Footsteps are following behind me, and I know it is the guy named Dylan that claims I’m his mate, and soon others follow. I need to leave. I did what I came here to do, and I don’t want to deal with any of this. They are both better off without me anyway. I gave her away for a reason and as for another mate, I don’t need one. He can reject me and find a suitable wolf or Lycan to settle down with and live happily ever after.
