The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 97
After breakfast I went for a run while everyone else was off doing whatever they wanted to unwind since Freya gave us time off. Maybe this time off will relax her enough to at least talk about what is going on with her. I’ve thought that the stress of everything going on so soon after what she went through is finally getting to her. That could be the cause of her moodiness. I know she isn’t pregnant or going into heat yet, so that can’t be the reason for her changes.
I ran for two hours letting my wolf take over first and then my Lycan which is something I haven’t done in a long time. Letting them take over was a very freeing feeling. Just letting my animal instincts kick in and knowing that they’ll keep us protected should an enemy show up frees the human part of me up to just relax. Being on guard all the time can be very draining. When they were tired and had their fun, we ran back to the tree line just before the packhouse and put on my clothes. The place looks deserted as everyone is off doing their own thing, but I don’t think about it as I head upstairs to my room for a shower and to relax with my mate until dinner. I’m hoping she’ll be in the mood to go with me.
As I get closer to my room, I can hear soft sobbing and smell something burning. Alarms go off in my head that something is wrong with my mate, so I rush to the door and open it practically taking it off the hinges. When I walk further into the room, I see her sitting on the huge sofa with her head in her hands and something burning on the coffee table in front of her. Rushing to her I sit next to her on the sofa and wrap my arms around her.
“What happened? Are you alright?”
“I don’t know what’s happening to me.” She starts to cry even more, and I gently rock her in my arms.
“Why did you set whatever that is on fire?”
“I didn’t mean to set it on fire.” She sits up and I wipe the tears from her face.
“Okay maybe you should start from the beginning. Tell me everything that happened.”
“Well, I heard that everyone was going to dinner tonight, and after not going with you to breakfast I figured that I’d try to go to dinner tonight. I know how I’ve been acting lately has made you feel bad, so I got up and took a shower and picked out an outfit to wear tonight. Staying in my robe, I fixed my hair and put on some light make-up then sat down to read until it was time to get ready. While I was reading, I could sense your distress through the bond. It made me so anxious and I just put my book down to take some deep breaths to calm down, but it seemed like it amplified even more. I don’t even know if it was your feelings or both of our emotions that I was feeling. Suddenly fire shot out of my hands and the book caught on fire.”
“What do you mean fire sot out of your hands?”
“Exactly what I said David. Fire shot out of my hands and the book caught on fire. Seemed to take me forever to put it out. What the hell is wrong with me?”
“Calm down baby. We’ll figure it out. Maybe the witches can help us.”
“Great just what I need, more people involved in my life. Bad enough I have a therapist asking me a million questions now I’m going to have witches.”
“Yes, but they know more about magic than I do, and I can’t help you with this no matter how bad I want to honey.”
Shayla’s POV
For weeks now, strange things have been happening to me. I haven’t told David about them because I’m freaked out enough on my own. I don’t want to add his stress to my own especially since he has been stressed out enough about what’s going on with the king. His focus needs to be on handling that situation and not on worrying about what is going on with me. My life recently was hell up until I met David. Since we’ve been together things have been going great and I was even ready to complete our mating ceremony, but now with this new development I don’t know what will happen. Eventually it will happen because I am more than ready to mate with him.
When he came barging into the room I knew that he was worried about me but I was too in my feelings to pay attention to him. I let him hold me while I tried to understand what was happening. How was I able to set something on fire? Where did this power come from all of a sudden? I’ve never had it growing up because I would have remembered something like this happening. Little things had been happening for weeks, like when I had a taste for lemon squares, and they appeared on the coffee table in front of me before I could even call for someone to ask if they even had them here. This was the biggest thing to happen though. Now he wants me to go and talk to the witches about what’s been happening. What if they find out that I’ve been cursed or something worse? How would we deal with that? My mind is racing with all the different possibilities and a headache is forming.
He must sense my frustration because he hugs me for a few moments before letting me go and kissing my forehead. I relax in his arms and finally get up to put on some jeans and a t-shirt with some tennis shoes before we make our way downstairs and to the conference room to meet with the witches. They are very nice women but I’ve always been told that they don’t care much for our kind, so I steer clear of them. They’ve helped out a lot with reviving those dead warriors and with the battles, so that made me less weary of them.
“So, what brings you to us today, Beta David?”
“Well, we were hoping that you could help us with something.”
“Sure. What seems to be the problem?” She looks from him to me, and I feel like that my cue to start talking. I clear my throat before I speak.
“Well to make this story short, I set a book on fire with flames from my hands. Little things have been happening but nothing like this and it has me worried.”
“What little things?”
“Things appearing and disappearing by me just thinking or saying I want them to appear or disappear. Dishes being cleaned and put away.”
“Let me see your hands.” she asked as she walked closer to me. I can’t remember her name, but I know that she is the head witch of the coven. I put my hands in hers and a little jolt went through me then it turned into slight tingles before it vanished. When I looked into her face, she had a big smile and it confused me. Before I could say anything though David beat me to it.
“Why are you smiling?” He didn’t use her name, so I still don’t know who she is to address her by name.
“I’m sorry Beta David, it is just that I’m so thrilled.”
“Why are you thrilled?” I couldn’t hold it in any longer. She’s standing here smiling and I’m setting things on fire. Nothing about this is worth smiling over or thrilling to me.
“My dear there is nothing wrong with you. You are simply coming into your own.”
“What does that mean?”
“You’re becoming a witch dear. Your powers are finally manifesting and from what I can tell, you are going to be a very powerful one.”
“I’m becoming a witch! What the hell?”
