Freya’s POV

He wasn’t in my dream and that made me sad. I didn’t sleep as well as I usually do when I see him in my dreams. After showering and getting dressed for the day, I head downstairs for breakfast then decide to go walk around before it is time for me to train. As I walk, I see the newly mated couples and pups out heading to shops or restaurants while the pups run to the playground or lake. I smile wondering if that will be me one day. Sometimes you can find your mate within your pack and sometimes you have to travel to find them. I know they are just dreams, but they feel so real. Alex holding and kissing me feels so real when we’re together. The long talks we have about any and everything or just us being silent in our beautiful dream world watching the water. All of it feels so real to me and yet I know that it is all a dream.

My mind wanders to the many conversations that Alex and I shared. We talked about projects that we both would like to launch in the future in bridging the gap between wolves and Lycans and our hopes and dreams for the future. He looked sad when I told him that I didn’t want to meet my mate anytime soon because I wanted to see some of the world first before settling down. I mean I will only be 18 and all I know is this pack. He gave me a little smile in understanding, but I could tell that he still didn’t like the fact that I wanted to wait. Funny how my dream man seemed hurt. I just shrugged it off. I’ve always had a vivid imagination so why should my dreams be any different.

A ball bounces in front of me and I pick it up before it can go any further. A little boy with brown eyes and shaggy blonde hair comes running up to me and smiles. “Hi. Can we have our ball back?” I smiled back at him and handed the ball to him. “Thank you. Would you like to play with us?” Pulling out my phone, I check the time and see that I have some time to spare, so I tell the kid yes and follow him over to his other friends. We played kickball for a while and I had so much fun. It has been a while since I just let loose and had fun. All I do is train whether it is combat or Luna training. Thankfully I’m done with school so that isn’t one more thing taking up my time. Don’t get me wrong, I love combat training, but Luna training gets on my last nerves. I’m not a dainty little woman that just wants to cook, clean, have babies, and no brain or opinion. That’s the life that Renee would love. I snort as I tell the kids bye and head to the training field. Goddess forbid that girl becomes the Luna of any pack. I wouldn’t even wish that on a rogue pack. I laugh to myself when I see my brother and Zach walking up to me.

“What has you in such a good mood dear sister?” I roll my eyes at him and give him a hug. “Oh yeah, she is definitely sick. She is laughing and hugging me. Zach call the pack doctor.” They both laugh and I frown then lightly hit my brother on the arm.

“I was just playing kickball with some pups and had so much fun. I haven’t had that much fun in a long time with all the training and it made me think about the Luna training and how girly they expect Lunas to be which made me think of Renee.” They both grimaced at the mention of her name.

“Why did it make you think of her?” Zach asked.

“Well it is all about planning parties, hosting guests, being a proper Luna and mate. Keeping everything clean, and cooking and popping out babies. That’s the life that Renee wants. She doesn’t have to use her brain and doesn’t care that her mate doesn’t want her opinion as long as he spends money on her and lets her decorate.” They both laugh shaking their heads in agreement. “It made me laugh because I realized I wouldn’t wish her on any pack, even a rogue one, as a Luna.”

“Oh so it is okay for you to trash talk me behind my back but when I do it to your face I’m wrong?” I roll my eyes before turning around to face her.

“Actually, it isn’t trash talk when it is the truth. You saying I was pregnant for Zach wasn’t true.”

“What you said wasn’t true either, so don’t act like you know me. You have no idea what I want in a mate. Yes, it would be nice for him to have a good status and some money, but I want more than that from him.”

“You’re right, I don’t know you because if I did, I never would have become friends with you. Then again, you were never my friend. You were just getting close to me to get next to my brother.” For a split second I saw hurt in her eyes, but she covered it up quickly before clearing her throat.

“Believe whatever you want Freya. One thing I do hope is that whoever my mate is, I hope it isn’t someone here, so I never have to see you people again.” She turns and walks away quickly heading back to the pack house.

“What got into her? I thought she was so in love with Nick and now she hopes her mate isn’t a pack member.” I just watch her walk away knowing that she is crying.

“I may need to apologize to her.” They both look at me like I’ve lost my mind. “Guys, I know her no matter what she says, and she is hurt. I can tell that she is crying. I’m going to talk to her.”

“Okay well do it after training. We’re going to be late.” I nod my head and follow them to the training yard.
