The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 82

Freya’s POV

After telling Renee that I had to leave but would be back as soon as I could, I headed to Alex’s office to see what was so important. Why wasn’t he working with the construction crew? He usually started his day helping there before doing any work in the office. I’m still trying to figure out why we don’t just ask the witches or use our own powers to get things moving along faster, and when I suggested that very idea, Alex said we are helping without magic for the same reason that my father had us help out in my old pack. Once he said that, I had no argument. He was right. We should only use our powers for important things and only when necessary. They are not to be used because we are too lazy to do work and make our lives easier.

I make it to David’s office but smell there is another person in the room before I even reach the door. They don’t smell like rogues, yet the pack scent is very familiar. When I open the door and see the person sitting in the chair next to David, a low growl escapes my lips at the scent and the owner of the scent. Instantly both David and Alex are on their feet, but it is Alex that speaks first.

“Freya, what’s wrong?”

“Why is this person here?” I never take my eyes off of him, but I know that Alex knows my question was directed at him.

“He is the one that has information for us, but there is also another reason that he is here. His pack is having some issues with their current Alpha.” I laugh humorlessly.

“Oh, I bet they are my love. That sort of explains why he is here, but anyone else from that awful pack could have come forward to tell us about that.” My claws extend and I walk slowly up to the person sitting in the chair. He doesn’t move and that is very bold on his part, not that he could get away from me if he tried. There is no fear coming off of him either. Once in front of him, I look deep into his eyes. “Tell me, Dylan. What is to stop me from carving your heart out of your chest right now?”

“Will someone tell me what the hell is going on here?” shouts Alex.

“I’d like to know that as well.” says David with a confused look on his face. An amused look comes over my face at the knowledge that he didn’t tell them who he was to me.

“Oh this really is interesting. You didn’t tell your king who you are? I wonder why.”

“I didn’t think that was as important as the information I had to tell him. Once I leave here nobody would hear from me again anyway.”

“And why is that?”

“Because there is a war coming and no matter what the outcome, this place will never be the same. Besides I’m tired of the Red River pack and without my mate, it is time for me to move on.” I looked confused for a second and wondered what he meant by without a mate.

“What do you mean about being without a mate? You found her two years ago. She was a dark witch and we all told you that wasn’t a good idea but you kept her anyway. Did she leave you?” An ill look came over his face.

“She died, a spell gone wrong.” I felt sorry for him and guilty for what I’d said. I almost lost my mind thinking I’d never see Alex again and I knew he was alive.

“I’m sorry about that.” He looked up at me with anger.

“Cut the crap Freya. You hated her. All of you hated her, so don’t stand there and act as though you care that she is dead. You think I didn’t know who or what she was, well I did but she was my mate, and I loved her no matter what. You know what, I did what I came to do here and now that I’m done, I will be on my way. And to think I came all this way to help your sorry ass. If the king wasn’t involved, I wouldn’t have helped at all. I did this for him, so that he wouldn’t have to go through the pain that I’ve been living with over the past year. Losing a mate is the worst pain in the world and I wouldn’t wish that on our king.” After that he gets up and walks out of the room. I see Alex give a nod towards David and he leaves the room as well. I’m standing there stunned at the way Dylan just talked to me. In a way, I guess I deserve it after bringing up his mate.

“Now do you want to tell me what is going on? And just so you know, he didn’t lie about anything he said to me or David, including in what he just said to you.” I sighed deeply before turning to face him.

“Yeah, I know he was telling the truth. He could never hide anything from me, and he always tells the truth no matter what. I was just very surprised to see him.”

“Who is he?”

“Alex, he’s, my cousin. His uncle was Tobias.”

A look of shock came over his face and I felt like I needed to explain.

“I guess that technically he isn’t since my mom and Tobias weren’t legally married like she is to my father, but when we were little, a woman would come to visit every now and then and she had two little boys with her. Now that I know what happened to my mother in that pack, I’m guessing the woman was trying to find a way out. The little boys had bruises all the time and when we asked, they would say that their father had them training and that’s where the bruises came from, and we left it at that. One time the woman came and one of the boys had a cast on his left leg, while the other had one on his right arm, and she herself had a black eye that seemed to be healing slowly. They were always introduced as our cousins and were told the woman was our aunt. My mother still saw them as family even though she rejected that crazy mate of hers.”

“That’s because your mother is a wonderful woman and natural born Luna. It also helps that she has Alpha blood because that is an Alpha’s job to make sure their pack is always taken care of.” He pulls me in for a hug and rubs my back.
