The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 36

The anger I felt for this female being so close to my mate went down a few notches when I heard what she said about missing females. A part of me felt that it would be wrong to stay furious at her, but my other parts kept telling me to rip her apart for being disrespectful to us and our mates. He clearly told her not to call her Alex but she ignored him and did it again. My body starts to shake with anger, but then I feel a sense of calm take over me and I look up to see that the woman is gone and Alex is staring intently at me. I haven’t noticed that David is no longer holding me either. When did all of that happen?

Alex walks closer to me and wraps his arms around my waist before burying his head in the crook of my neck and breathing in my scent. My head is buried in his chest listening to his heart beat. This calms me even more, so now I can think more clearly and talk to my mate. My tour of the palace will have to wait for now. His mind needs to be on finding those missing women and ending this rogue problem. Maybe I should tell him to wait to have the Mate Ball. I move away from him and give him a small smile.

“Alex, who was that woman and how bad is the rogue problem? Do not even think of sugarcoating anything for me.”

“That woman is not important, but she used to be a childhood friend. There was a time when our parents even thought we would be mates. David and I were like brothers and we thought of her as a little sister. When we got older, and as decades turned into centuries, I realized she was not my mate and was quite happy with that revelation. The older we got, the more entitled and annoying she seemed to get. As more time went on, it was said by some that I should just take a chosen mate but I refused. A part of me still thought that I had a mate out there. Don’t get me wrong Freya, I’ve been with other women up until about fifty years ago. We can talk more about that later. As for the rogue problem, that is getting worse by the day. They’ve gone from attacking one pack a month to more consistent attacks on more than one pack at a time some times. Mostly all are packs that border the palace territory. I’ve sent warriors to stay at these packs and provisions to help those that have been attacked rebuild. If what she just told me is true, then they have escalated from just killing patrols to kidnapping.”

He drags his hand down his face and I can see as well as feel the stress and anger coming off of him. This is taking its toll on him and I have no idea how I can help him but I will try. First, I need to get him to eat something and then we can go over how to help these packs, get the kidnapped women back, and end this rogue conflict once and for all.

Alex’s POV

When Michelle came flying into the room and hugged me, I saw the look in Freya’s eyes and knew that if I didn’t do something fast, she would kill Michelle. The touch of Michelle made me feel like something disgusting was crawling all over me, and in a sense, I guess that’s true. Michelle is a beautiful woman but has never been my type. Power and title is all that matters to her on top of being very vain. I have no idea how she got this way, because I can remember her playing in the dirt and river with me and David as children. The woman she has become is not the same childhood friend that used to wrestle and play with bugs with us. She has become a snob and quite frankly that is a big turn off for me. Yes, I was born with money and power, but never was I taught to mistreat others because of who I am and what I possess.

Freya was on the verge of shifting if I don’t stop this immediately. I push Michelle off of me and the feeling of disgust left even though I still felt as though I needed a shower. I could see Freya’s mood slightly calm when she heard what Michelle said about the missing women. Then she started getting angry again. Definitely time to get Michelle out of here. Though she is more experienced being in her wolf and Lycan forms, Freya actually took time to learn combat so in her human form she is already more lethal than Michelle. I tap into one of my gifts and freeze Freya from being able to hear or see what is actually going on as I get Michelle out of the room. She practically throws a tantrum and says a bunch of nonsense that I don’t need Freya to hear or else there will be bloodshed. I’m trying to figure out how she got in here anyway after I explicitly said that she is not to come here without my permission. I’ll look into that later.

Once Michelle is gone, I wrap my arms around Freya and release her from my power. She will be a bit disoriented at first but she will be fine. I’ll tell her about my gifts later, probably after her birthday. We also need to talk about her gift but I want her parents here for that conversation. I feel her melt into my arms as her body calms down. Surprisingly I’m calming down as well even though I’m trying to calm her. I have to do something about this rogue and Michelle problem. Michelle can wait but the rogues are getting worse. I just wish I knew what they wanted.

“Alex did you hear me?” I look down and my mate is staring up at me with worry in those beautiful eyes of hers and I shake my head to clear it of my thoughts.

“Baby I’m sorry, my mind wandered. What did you say?”

“I said that we need to get something to eat and then work on what is going on with the rogues.”

“Okay. It is about time for dinner anyway. How about we work on the rogue problem early tomorrow morning? I’m waiting on some intel. One thing I’ll never do is take anything Michelle says at face value.”

“You think she would lie about women being kidnapped? And you say she used to be a friend of yours? That doesn’t sound like she’s a good person Alex.”

“Freya, she wasn’t always like that and I don’t know what happened to her. Now it is like only titles and power mean anything. I’d love to blame this on her father but she’s a grown woman and can make up her own mind.”

“That’s true but if she is being influenced in a bad way then maybe you should try to help her.”

“I’ve tried but she can’t seem to get it through her head that me helping her doesn’t mean I love her and want to be with her. She just ends up frustrating me or making me angry and I walk away, or yell at her and forbid her to be near me.”

“Well she better try to hear you, because if she disrespects you or me, I will end her. Now lets go have dinner.” I stand there shocked for a minute as I watch my mate walk out of the office. I’d be lying if I said that display didn’t just turn me on.

Michelle’s POV

“How dare he throw me out of his office after I risked my life to tell him that news! And who in the hell was that girl?” I was so enraged after Alex had David and his minions escort me out of the palace and through the gates.

“What girl? Oh, that must be the special guest I heard he is having stay at the palace. I can’t remember if she was being kept there because she was in danger or if she did something and is being punished. Anyway, the girl is not the issue. You need to figure out a way to get back into his good graces. I can’t keep covering for you and getting a witch to take the command to stay away from him is becoming costly.” My father said this before sighing. I can tell he is frustrated but so am I, and that is only making me angrier.

“Daddy, I have tried everything to get him to choose me as his mate, but he keeps insisting that we wait for our fated mates. How long are we supposed to wait? I love him and we’ve known each other forever. What mate is going to know him the way that I know him? He’s just being stubborn.”

“Well, what you’ve been doing has not been working so try something else. Once you get him to accept you and get on the throne, then our family will have all the power and prestige. Nobody will look down on us.”

“I know daddy and I will get him to choose me as his mate. He doesn’t know it yet, but I will be his Queen. I believe I know what to do.”
