My Beastly Fertility System Chapter 103: Go for Quantity!
"What can you even do about it?"
Claire's brain short-circuited for two seconds. Then she scrubbed her cheek hard a couple of times. Looking at Jeffrey's pale pink lips, she said coldly, "Your mouth stinks. Please don't touch me with lips that have eaten beastfolk. I might throw up."
Jeffrey's brows twisted into a tight knot, anger rising in his eyes as he stared at her.
He stood up abruptly and strode to the cave entrance. Before leaving, he threw out one sentence.
"Female, you'll pay for what you just said."
Claire pouted and muttered to herself, "But it's true!"
Just thinking about how that same mouth had eaten his own kind made her stomach churn.
Maybe she'd been a little too blunt and impulsive. Jeffrey wouldn't actually hurt her, would he?
Claire struggled to sit up.
Her belly had grown so large that neither sitting nor lying down felt comfortable. She got up and slowly paced around the small cave, treating it like a walk.
Eira still hadn't given her a clear answer.
But she probably wouldn't dare tell Jeffrey about it either. Otherwise, he wouldn't have let Claire off so easily just now.
Claire refused to accept it. Even without Eira's help, she wanted to try escaping on her own.
Finally, she got her chance.
As the rogue beastfolk expanded their territory, every nearby ordinary beastfolk clan was wiped out. There were so many captives that they couldn't even fit them all.
So Jeffrey ordered the caves to be expanded.
The captives were put to work. Under the rogue beastfolk's orders, they dug out new tunnel branches one after another.
One afternoon, while the beastfolk captives were digging with their claws, the tunnel ceiling suddenly caved in!
It started as a small patch of dirt crumbling down, but then—whether by design or pure bad luck—one section after another began to collapse.
The beastfolk erupted into panic, scrambling to escape. The entire underground cave fell into chaos.
Claire had been walking around when it happened. As soon as she steadied herself, she ran toward the path she had picked out earlier.
With her big belly, running was a struggle. It didn't take long before she was drenched in sweat.
"Why am I still this weak even after reaching Level 1?" she asked.
"Master, a female's level mainly improves fertility. It doesn't help much in other areas," Pome replied.
"What the hell? That's such a scam! I swear, this is totally unfair treatment!"
Claire was furious!
Why couldn't she be strong like Zane? Even if she hadn't trained much, the gap between her and Level 1 Zane was way too big.
Back then, Zane could take on ten wild boars by himself!
Pome answered sheepishly, "Master, there's no helping it. That's just how the Beast World is designed. But don't worry! I know you want to get stronger. I have a simple, practical solution."
"Spit it out!"
Claire pushed her way through the fleeing beastfolk.
At that moment, she missed Rufus so badly. If she could fly like him, she'd be out of here in seconds.
"Since your fertility is higher now, you should bond with more mates and have more younglings! Find ten mates and have a hundred younglings. They'll all become your support! That's part of your strength, too."
Claire wanted to crack Pome's head open.
"What's the point of having a bunch of beast mates? I'm still trapped by that psycho!"
She wasn't blaming Zane and Rufus for being weak. But in the end, they were outside help—they couldn't be by her side protecting her at all times.
Like right now. The only person she could rely on was herself!
"That's because you don't have enough mates yet, Master! Ahem, if you had dozens, they could have done a massive sweep of the area and found you by now!
"Plus, if quality is an issue, go for quantity! Zane and Rufus can't beat Level 3 Jeffrey, but if you add a few more, I don't believe Jeffrey could handle all of them."
Claire wavered a little.
Pome's words were harsh, but the logic was sound!
Definitely worth considering!
But first, she had to stay alive.
Claire stopped dwelling on it and picked up the pace.
Up ahead was the end of the tunnel branch. She rushed forward in excitement, only to be blocked by a solid dirt wall.
"Crap! Dead end!"
Without hesitation, she turned and ran down another path.
A few minutes later, the light ahead grew brighter. The air turned colder, and even snowflakes started drifting in.
"This has to be the exit!"
Claire rushed forward, only to realize that the cave opened up to a sheer cliff!
She couldn't stop in time. Her momentum was carrying her right over the edge when a hand suddenly reached out from behind and grabbed her.
Claire came to a dead stop just inches from the drop-off.
She turned around and saw Eira.
"Thank you! Eira, I would've died if it weren't for you!"
Claire wiped the cold sweat off her forehead, genuinely grateful.
Eira's expression was conflicted.
"Don't mention it! Besides, I should be thanking you for that lighter you gave me. Now that I have a way to make fire, my status around here has gone way up."
