My Beastly Fertility System Chapter 75: Protect Them
Kaleb turned into his beast form as a moose and let Tyne climb onto his back before following closely behind Zane.
Meanwhile, Rufus had already changed into a gyrfalcon and was flying high above them, keeping watch.
Guided by the direction Rufus gave, Zane sped forward at full speed.
The forest around them was dead and dry. White snow covered everything. The land's quiet was slowly broken by rising noise.
The sounds kept getting louder. Soon, they could clearly hear voices from other beastfolk.
"Catch them! Boss said we have to grab them, especially the pregnant one!"
"Haha! Since when did Boss like that kind? That's wild!"
Claire's heart hammered in her chest, and her legs trembled.
She hadn't expected that those rogue beastfolk would still be chasing them after all this time.
There were too many enemies. Slowly, the rogue beastfolk surrounded them, blocking the left, the right, and behind until there was almost no way out.
The icy wind cut across her face like blades. Claire felt her whole body going numb.
Then suddenly, a brown blur rushed in from the side.
It shot across Zane's back like a fired arrow.
Claire threw herself backward on instinct and barely avoided the strike.
At that close moment, she saw who it was—Jeffrey!
His huge snake body moved with shocking speed. It was unbelievably fast.
Luckily, he was in beast form. His body was too slick to grab her.
When Jeffrey's tail swept across Zane's back, the tip flicked lightly, knocking the fur pouch off.
"My younglings!"
Claire reached out to grab it, but she was just a bit too far. When she noticed several rogue beastfolk near where it was rolling, she clenched her teeth and rushed after it.
She ran as fast as she could toward the fur pouch.
Thankfully, the fur pouch was tied tightly, so the younglings hadn't fallen out.
Zane immediately stopped. When he turned around, he saw the fur pouch in Claire's hands as she swung her arm hard.
"Zane, catch it!"
The fur pouch flew through the air toward him.
He jumped and caught it firmly between his jaws.
Inside, the younglings whimpered and huddled together.
But at that same moment, a rogue beastfolk grabbed Claire from behind and twisted her wrist.
"Run with the younglings! Leave me!"
Claire shouted as loudly as she could, tears running down her face.
Goodbye, my babies!
Mommy is using my life to protect you all!
I did it this time!
It's worth it to exchange my life for the lives of 12 children!
But Zane stayed frozen, staring at Claire as she was dragged away. Only heavy breaths came from his nose.
Rufus swooped down from the sky and slashed at Jeffrey, who was about to attack again, tearing off more snake scales.
Then he shot back up into the air.
"Go! If you don't leave now, you'll die here! Zane, if you don't take them away, then you're not my beast mate anymore!"
Zane's eyes shrank. Pain filled him. He flung the fur pouch holding the younglings onto his back, bit down on the long strap, and then turned and ran.
Tears filled Claire's eyes as she watched the tall white figure fade into the distance.
Tyne and the moose were already gone.
Rufus kept circling in the sky, reluctant to leave.
Jeffrey's snake body slid smoothly across the snow and stopped beside Claire.
His large eyes fixed on her.
"I told you. You weren't escaping, female!"
All that tracking hadn't been wasted.
He finally caught her!
Jeffrey wrapped his tail around Claire, coiling tightly until her whole body was locked in place.
She struggled hard, but she couldn't even move a finger.
Forcing herself to ignore her deep fear of snakes, she slowly breathed through the tiny space left open.
Jeffrey began heading back toward his lair with Claire trapped in his coils. Behind him, one rogue beastfolk pointed up at the gyrfalcon.
"Boss, that eagle beastfolk has been following us the whole time. Won't he reveal our hideout if he keeps this up? Is that okay?"
Jeffrey responded with a mocking smile.
"He's a coward. If he dares come down, I'll roast him and eat him! I haven't had roast bird in a while."
While speaking, Jeffrey flicked his tongue and licked his lips.
Rufus flew anxiously above, not knowing how to rescue Claire.
When he saw the rogue beastfolk heading in another direction instead of chasing Zane, all he could do was follow them from afar.
Zane kept running farther and farther until the only sound left was snow quietly falling.
Claire's expression kept replaying in his mind. His emotions twisted wildly, and every part of him wanted to turn around and go back for her.
But rationality told him he couldn't.
Claire was already captured. They could use her to threaten him at any moment. And the younglings still depended on him. If he returned now, it would be the same as rushing toward death.
Zane was still struggling with himself when he saw the moose carrying Tyne appear again.
The moose wasn't slow, but it lacked fighting strength. If it met rogue beastfolk, it would become easy prey.
"Look after the younglings for me. I'll return soon!"
