My Beastly Fertility System Chapter 112: Her Revenge

5 min 2 views

The anti-tank launcher's recoil sent Claire flying backward.

She forced herself to ignore the pain in her arms and quickly put the launcher back into her storage space.

When she looked up again, Jeffrey was gone.

A human-shaped hole had been blasted through the wall.

The blast had sent Jeffrey flying. His body crashed through several dirt walls, tore through multiple tunnels, and finally stopped.

He lay on the ground like a torn rag, lifeless.

Half his body was gone. Mangled flesh and blood splattered everywhere. Blood poured from what remained, the muscles twitching once before going still.

Eira covered her mouth in shock, her eyes wide as she looked back and forth between Claire and Jeffrey.

The explosion had shaken the entire underground cave. Rogue beastfolk rushed in from all directions.

The first ones to arrive were the three beautiful females Jeffrey had favored.

Their faces turned pale as they looked at him. They trembled like leaves, and one of them pointed at Claire with a shaking finger.

"Y-you killed him..."

Claire was still holding that piece of dried bark, standing tall, like a lone winter flower.

Her emotions were a mess—part of her felt satisfied, but another part felt empty.

She tilted her head, looking at Jeffrey's body surrounded by the three females, confirming he wasn't moving at all. Then she burst into laughter.

"Finally. You're finally dead by my hand! Jeffrey, you should've seen this coming. You should've seen it!"

From the moment he set his sights on her, from the moment he showed hostility toward her younglings, they were destined to be enemies.

Either he died, or she did.

But right now, Claire went blank for a second. Looking at his motionless body, it all felt unreal.

More and more rogue beastfolk gathered around. Some rushed over to check on Jeffrey, some pointed at Claire and whispered, and others ran around in a blind panic, having no idea what to do.

The underground cave fell into chaos again.

Claire swayed on her feet, forcing herself to stay sharp.

She couldn't relax yet. She was still in the rogue beastfolk's den. She hadn't escaped.

She tossed the piece of tree bark aside and ran for the exit.

Just before reaching a fork in the tunnels, she turned back to look at Eira.

Eira had already calmed down. Standing among the panicked crowd, she gave orders like a leader who never lost her cool.

The rogue beastfolk obeyed her, scattering in an orderly way under her command.

Eira's gaze met Claire's.

They looked at each other, smiled, and gave a small nod, perfectly in sync.

Claire didn't hesitate anymore. She turned and disappeared into one of the side tunnels.

The three females beside Eira snapped in frustration. "What's wrong with you? How could you let the murderer of Mr. Jeffrey just walk away? Send someone after her! Now!"

Eira replied coldly, "What murderer? Have the three of you lost your minds? It's always been survival of the fittest. When Jeffrey defeated our Frog King, we didn't pursue it. Now someone has avenged us. How could we repay that with betrayal?"

The three females tried to argue back, but Eira cut them off sharply. "Guards. Take the three of them away and lock them up."

The females froze, about to laugh at Eira for her audacity. But before they could, several rogue beastfolk grabbed them by the arms.

"How did you do this, Eira? Why are they listening to you? Let go of me! I'm Mr. Jeffrey's favorite!"

No one paid them any attention.

Eira had been building her influence in the shadows for a long time. Thanks to the lighter, she controlled the source of fire. No rogue beastfolk dared go against her.

Without anyone even realizing it, she had become the true leader of the underground cave.

She pressed her hand against the lighter hidden inside her fur tunic, staring at the tunnel where Claire had disappeared. Silently, she prayed for her.

Drenched in blood, Jeffrey used the last of his strength to open his eyes and watch her as she fled.

She walked away from him just like that, step by step, getting farther and farther...

He felt completely drained. He closed his eyes slowly.

...

When Claire ran out through that familiar exit again, her mood instantly lifted.

A cold wind howled outside. It was the middle of the night.

But the world was covered in white, so the night wasn't pitch black. Everything looked dim and hazy, and snowflakes drifted down from the sky.

After stepping out from the warmth of the cave, Claire couldn't adjust right away. She sneezed three times in a row.

She quickly pulled out two fur tunics from her storage space and put them on. That finally warmed her up a little.

Winter nights were brutal. Before long, frost began to cling to her eyelashes.

Her body felt like it was plunging into an ice cellar again.

Claire tried to enter her storage space. Now that it could hold living things, she figured she should be able to go in too.

She closed her eyes, focused... Then opened them again. Still the snowy, freezing night!

She couldn't get in at all!

"That piece of junk storage space! The owner can't even get in!"

Claire hugged her arms around herself and looked around—an unfamiliar surroundings with no signs of life. She had no idea which way to go.
