After being praised, Davy didn't know how to react and poked at the fire with a stick.

As the flames flickered, Claire's drowsiness crept in.

The day had been both dangerous and intense. Completely exhausted, Claire fell into a deep sleep.

Davy looked at her. She hadn't mocked him like other females, nor had she been afraid of him. When she spoke to him, her voice had always been gentle.

Under the hazy moonlight, deep in the distant shadows, Jeffrey's expression shifted between light and dark as he stared at Davy with hatred.

He regretted it. It had been his moment of hesitation that spared Davy's life. I should have killed that little green snake back in the nest.

He hadn't expected Davy's growth potential to be this terrifying.

Claire slept extremely well through the night, shaking off all the discomfort from not being able to rest properly while trapped in the rogue beastfolk nest these past days.

Sunlight filtered through the branches of the Ember Fruit tree and fell across Claire's face.

She opened her eyes and, for a moment, forgot where she was. Then her back touched the trunk of the Ember Fruit tree. The rough surface, carrying a faint warmth, startled her awake.

However, the warmth seemed much weaker than when she had touched it the day before.

Claire looked up. There had been three Ember Fruit trees, but now they were completely bare, not a single fruit left.

"Oh no! There's a thief!"

She reacted instantly and was about to call for Davy when she noticed something on the ground near the hot spring. On the patch of land where the fire had melted the snow, there was a large, strange symbol drawn out.

And Davy was floating about 15 feet above it.

Claire leaned against the tree, watching Davy curiously.

At first, the titan python simply floated there without moving. After a while, his body began to twist. A tearing, crackling sound came from his scales.

The snake skin gradually turned pale, swelling and separating from the new scales growing beneath it.

"Is he shedding his skin? With this much commotion?"

Claire muttered.

As the titan python's movements grew more intense, the old skin began to split from the tail, revealing dark green scales underneath.

The tail whipped wildly, almost like it was dancing. As he moved, the shed skin hung down and slowly piled onto the ground.

Then came the midsection. At its thickest point, the shed skin stretched over 30 feet across.

Finally, it reached the most critical part, the head.

Claire watched closely and clearly saw a pair of horns emerging from the newly formed head.

"They look like dragon horns. I've heard that a snake can become a python, a python can become a drake, and a drake can become a dragon. Is Davy turning into a drake?"

Claire had only ever heard stories about snakes transforming into dragons in myths. She had never imagined she would witness it herself.

But then why it he only have horns and no claws?

Claire narrowed her eyes. Just as she thought that, several loud popping sounds came from the python's abdomen as four claws burst out.

Those claws had originally been folded tightly against his body. Now that the old skin had been shed and no longer restrained them, they naturally extended outward.

The shed skin fell to the ground. A piece even landed by Claire's feet. It felt soft and light to the touch and still carried Davy's body warmth.
