Claire didn't have time to dwell on it. Her belly churned with strong contractions. There was no waiting now!

"Quick, catch them! They're coming out!" Claire ordered.

"Huh? Catch? Catch what?"

Jeffrey dropped to his knees, his long hands flailing, not knowing where to put them. He kept asking questions. He'd never seen anything like this before.

He probably didn't even know where younglings came from!

A soft sound rang out.

Claire felt the first youngling slip out of her body. A brief wave of relief washed over her.

Jeffrey stared at the dirt between her legs. A round, smooth egg stood there quietly, a faint trace of blood still clinging to it.

This... is an egg a female had laid?

Before he could process it, Claire urged him, "What did I have? Let me see!"

This was her and Rufus's youngling. She didn't know if it would be a bird egg or a little fox cub.

Jeffrey moved his arms stiffly. He scooped it up. The egg was barely half the size of his fist. Then, he carefully brought it up to Claire's cheek.

It was a short distance, but he felt like he was struggling against a powerful opponent, completely at a loss for what to do.

Claire looked at the fresh egg. The shell had tiny black speckles on it. Other than that, it looked just like a chicken egg.

So, it's a bird egg!

She glanced at Jeffrey, who was still holding the egg.

"Put it down."

If he didn't put it on the ground soon, he'd get so nervous he might accidentally shake it so hard the yolk would break apart.

You could tell that Jeffrey looked even more nervous and lost than she did!

He placed the egg gently on the ground, then let out a huge breath, as if he'd just put down a massive weight.

An excited system notification rang out in Claire's mind.

"Host has given birth to the 13th beastling. Species: mutated six-winged golden roc. Gender: male. Level: 3. Reward: 3,500 cubic feet of living space."

Claire's heart started racing. Her first youngling was already Level 3. So the Ember Fruits she'd eaten really did boost the quality of younglings in her belly!

And I got living space?

If she guessed right, that meant a storage space that could hold living things. That meant she could hide people inside?

Not just some random guy, but her strongest fighters. Ready to jump out anytime and surprise the enemy!

She was still thinking about how to use it when that familiar downward pressure returned in her lower belly.

Beside her leg, Jeffrey called out excitedly, "Another one's coming! Another egg!"

He wasn't as panicked this time, but still a bit stiff as he picked up the egg and brought it to her.

It looked exactly like the first one!

Claire's mind went blank.

She almost burst out laughing.
