"You probably don't know this yet, but I'm a Level 2 beastfolk. I can protect myself."

Marcus gasped in shock. "Really?"

"Yeah, I was already a Level 2 beastfolk before we became mates. I just used mud to cover it up, so outsiders didn't know."

Claire had wanted to tell Marcus about this for a long time, but ever since she got pregnant, her memory had been slipping. She would think of something one second and forget it the next!

Through the open door, Claire saw a beastfolk standing on the stone steps outside. He had a dead beast slung over his back, with snow covering his head and body.

He looked like a simple, honest beastfolk who had just come back from hunting!

Claire watched as Marcus stood before him, talking about something. Because of the heavy wind and snow, she couldn't hear what they were saying.

After a moment, Marcus turned and hurried back inside.

He said to Claire anxiously, "That beastfolk said he found Bertie in a valley outside the city while hunting, but Bertie is trapped between two huge rocks and can't get out. I need to go there now. If we wait too long, he'll be in danger."

Claire nodded.

"Okay! Then go quickly. But remember to bring some people, and that beastfolk too. Make sure he goes with you."

She warned him carefully. Marcus nodded and agreed to everything. He closed the door and left in a hurry.

With one less person in the house, Claire felt a little uneasy at first, but after a moment, she laughed at herself.

"Finally, I have some personal space!"

She took some fresh fruit out of her storage space. These were fruits that didn't exist in the beast world. She sat by the fire and ate them leisurely.

On the other side, Marcus followed the beastfolk out of the city.

The beastfolk led the way. After they passed the city gate and walked a bit further, the man pointed ahead.

"Mr. Holland, if you walk ten more miles to the north, you'll find Bertie! I have hungry cubs at home to feed, so I won't go any further with you."

Marcus felt suspicious, but before he could say anything, the beastfolk had already left.

Forget it, going alone would be faster anyway!

He changed into his beast form. The giant panda covered five or six meters with every step. Even though his body was huge, he wasn't slow at all.
