My Beastly Fertility System Chapter 7: Get Out of My Clan!
"Ms. Palmer, the males are fighting over the females. Isn't that normal? Besides, Fiona got hurt too. Ask everyone—does anyone think I'm being unfair?"
After speaking, Hazel shot a sharp look around at each of the clan members.
The members either looked down or turned their heads away. Not a single beastfolk said a word.
Elodie stayed silent for a moment, clearly powerless in this situation.
Hazel inherited her position as the clan chief from her mother. Even if she acted bossy or arrogant, no one would dare question her.
Back when Claire's mother was thinking about leaving the clan, this was one of the reasons.
Claire said clearly, "Mrs. Miller, everyone just saw it. Fiona has a black line on her tongue. She can't deny that."
Hazel thought for a moment and replied casually, "Yeah, I see it. But I've never heard that eating a Sacred Fruit makes a black line on someone's tongue. Are you making this up?"
Before Claire could respond, Elodie's old, calm voice spoke up.
"She's telling the truth. Every clan's healer knows that after eating a Sacred Fruit, a black line will indeed appear on the tongue. And it never fades."
Elodie's position in the clan was second only to Hazel.
Many people trusted her words.
Now, Hazel had nothing more to say.
Fiona covered her mouth and protested loudly, "Mom, no! I don't want a black line on my tongue! It's so ugly! Hurry and make Ms. Palmer take it off!"
Claire sneered inside. Fiona was still worried about her appearance. But from now on, anyone who saw the black line on her tongue would know she had stolen a Sacred Fruit.
In the minds of the beastfolk, Sacred Fruit was almost as sacred as the Beast God.
People like her would be despised.
It was only because Hazel had long controlled the fox clan that no one dared to say it out loud.
Hazel realized the seriousness of the situation and looked at Elodie a little hopefully, trying to please her.
Elodie snorted coldly.
"There's nothing I can do."
Then she turned her head away, clearly annoyed.
Hazel clenched her teeth, stuck between anger and helplessness. It was unbearable!
Claire spoke up, "Mrs. Miller, now that the matter is clear, I believe a fair leader like you will give me justice."
Hazel shot her a glare, clearly annoyed.
"Justice? You left the clan without permission. If you had brought in rogue beastfolk, do you know how much danger that would have caused? Since you're innocent, I won't punish you."
Claire wasn't surprised. She had never expected Hazel to act decently.
But then Hazel suddenly turned her attention and glared at Zane, standing next to Claire.
She shouted angrily, "You brat! I took you in, gave you a life, raised you this far, and this is how you repay me? Ungrateful brat! Get out of my clan right now!"
Zane looked at her calmly and said softly, "Mrs. Miller, you know very well how you 'took me in.' You knocked me out while I was injured on a hunt and took me without my permission. And don't talk about raising me—I never ate a single piece of your food!"
When he said that, the clan erupted into chatter.
Many of the older beastfolk still remembered how handsome Zane was when he was first brought back.
Back then, Hazel had claimed she took him in because he was a little beast wandering outside, starving and thirsty.
Now, looking back, it was obvious—she probably just liked his looks and kidnapped him.
Feeling embarrassed, Hazel's cheeks reddened slightly. But she had been through enough to stay calm and still scold him.
"Don't talk nonsense. Even if that's true, how much protection has the clan given you all these years? If you weren't here, rogue beastfolk would've eaten you a long time ago. You were never really a member of the fox clan. I'm the chief, and I'm kicking you out. Now get lost!"
After all, this brat wasn't even a Level 1 beastfolk. Fiona didn't want him as her beast mate anyway. Keeping him around while he defied her could only cause trouble later. Better to throw him out sooner.
Without the clan's protection, he would die outside sooner or later.
Fiona didn't agree. She forgot all about her own black-marked tongue and pouted at Hazel.
"Mom, I still want Zane to be my beast slave!"
Hazel cooed softly to Fiona, trying to calm her down. "Good girl. Later, I'll find a few better ones for you. This one is way too disobedient."
Fiona still looked a little reluctant.
Zane didn't care. He just stood there, straight and steady.
Claire squeezed his hand and gave him a small smile, calming his nerves.
Then she stepped forward and said, "Mrs. Miller, Zane is about to become a member of the fox clan. Because he and I are going to become mates!"
Most of the fox clan were fox clan beastfolk, but there were also a few others. Only those who became beast mates had the right to live in the clan.
In the Beast World, having a safe place to live was extremely important.
There were too many rogue beasts. Some had wandered alone since birth, while others had been cast out for serious crimes and left as despised outcasts.
When Zane first heard he was being kicked out, he hadn't felt much. After all, he had lived alone in the wild as a child.
But hearing that Claire wanted to become mates with him touched him.
She was willing to oppose the powerful Hazel just to accept me.
She actually liked me this much!
Was it because of my face?
