Claire and Rufus exchanged a look. Neither of them had noticed when Fiona started following them.

Honestly, you can't put your guard up every day.

Hazel rolled her eyes. If she could seize a huge stash of food from Claire, who would say no?

She stepped forward and asked, "Are you sure?"

Fiona nodded hard. "Of course! I can take you there right now. There's a mountain of food in that cave!"

She took the lead, full of excitement, while a large group of beastfolk followed behind her.

Only the younger ones came. The elderly and the children couldn't handle going out in this kind of weather.

Even so, the group looked impressive—like an army heading into battle.

Claire and Rufus blinked.

Both of them felt a wave of relief.

Claire couldn't help but think—was this luck? She had just stored everything away, and Fiona showed up right after.

Fiona shot Claire a sideways glance, her rough, chubby face full of smug pride.

The group headed toward the cave.

Claire and Rufus followed behind. They didn't want to go, but some of the beastfolk insisted they might try to run.

"Come here. I'll carry you. Don't let your feet freeze."

Without waiting for an answer, Rufus picked Claire up and walked calmly behind the group.

Fiona led the way, turning back from time to time to make sure Claire was still there.

When she saw the familiar cave, she waved her short, thick fingers excitedly.

"We're here! That's the one!"

She had mixed feelings about this place. It was where she had almost gotten close to Rufus, before Gavin took her instead.

Now, she would expose Claire in front of everyone.

Hazel ordered two male beastfolk to move the giant rock blocking the cave. They pushed with all their strength, but it didn't budge.

In the end, four more of the strongest males joined in. Only then did the rock slowly shift aside.

The beastfolk rushed inside, pushing and crowding—like people fighting over discounted eggs at a grocery store.

Hazel stayed at the entrance, pretending to be calm. She sent others in to check.

Fiona was thrilled. She mocked Claire, who had just arrived.

"Well, Claire? What do you have to say now? You're selfish. You don't care about anyone else. After this, no one in the clan will stand by you!"

She wanted to ruin her completely.

Rufus glanced at Fiona, his eyes cold.

Fiona shivered and shut up at once, though her glare at Claire burned with anger.

Even now, someone was still protecting her?

Was this Level 2 beastfolk blind or just stupid?

Rufus spoke, his voice as cold as ice.

"In my eyes, Claire is always kind and brave."

Even Claire felt embarrassed hearing that.

She didn't think she was that kind. She only wanted to take care of her own small family. As for others, they weren't her concern.

At that moment, the beastfolk who had gone inside began to come back out.

Fiona asked eagerly, "Well? There's a lot of food inside, right?"

"It must be Claire! She moved all the food!"

Claire walked in slowly and smiled.

"Didn't you just say you only found this place recently? Then tell me—how could I move everything in such a short time?"

Females were a bit stronger than normal women, but still nowhere near as strong as the males.

Even if Rufus helped her, they couldn't have cleared out an entire cave that fast.

Someone looked at Fiona with doubt.

"Are you sure you really saw them storing food here?"

Fiona snapped, "You don't believe me? I saw it! I smelled the meat too. Try smelling it now. You can still catch a little bit!"

The others sniffed the air one by one.

Claire looked at Fiona and said lightly, "Or maybe you were just so hungry this winter that you started imagining things."

One by one, the beastfolk shook their heads.
