My Beastly Fertility System Chapter 107: Mountain of Eggs
"Host has given birth to the 20th beastling. Species: mutated scarlet finch. Gender: female. Level: 2. Reward: X1 longsword."
"Host has given birth to the 21st beastling. Species: mutated nine-headed ghost bird. Gender: male. Level: 3. Reward: 1,000 square feet of accelerated farmland."
...
The system notifications kept going off in Claire's head, one after another.
It was like a dam had broken—eggs kept coming nonstop. Jeffrey could barely keep up. He'd just brought a warm egg up to Claire's face when the next one came right after it.
Before long, a pile of bird eggs in all kinds of colors had piled up beside Claire.
Claire recognized some of the species names the system called out, but some she'd never even heard of. But every single one had the word mutated in front of it.
Not a single egg was an ordinary gyrfalcon.
If she hadn't taken that fertility pill before, she might've wondered if she was carrying some other beastfolk's beastlings!
Hopefully Rufus doesn't overthink it...
...
Meanwhile, deep in a distant forest, on the branch of a thousand-year-old tree with withered leaves, Rufus had wrapped his large wings around himself, even tucking his head inside.
"Achoo!"
Rufus let out a massive sneeze.
He shook his head, his body swaying so badly he almost slipped off the branch.
The white wolf beside him nudged him, helping him steady himself.
Zane curled his lip.
"If you can't handle it, go back to the clan. I'll stay and look for Claire myself."
They had searched six different locations over the past few days, and every single one had come up empty.
Now, only two places were left.
Zane looked down at the rough map in his hand again. Six red X's had been crossed out. The last two spots—one to the south, one to the north—were the farthest away.
He couldn't help but wonder if Fiona's map was wrong.
Rufus pulled his wings tighter around himself, his voice muffled. "Not a chance! Claire is waiting for me to save her, and I'm going to be the hero who gets there first. My nose was just acting up, that's all—don't act like I can't handle this."
They'd been searching nonstop for days. Both of them were exhausted. But Rufus would never show weakness in front of Zane.
Zane didn't argue.
Having one more person meant finding Claire faster.
Counting the days, Claire's due date was right around the corner. They had to find her before then.
He didn't dare imagine her being all alone in such a dangerous place, forced to go through labor by herself. It would be a nightmare.
Two beast mates weren't enough!
He wasn't strong enough yet!
Not enough. Nowhere near enough!
Rufus was still grumbling. "That sneeze was definitely Claire thinking about me. Hey, Fleabag, aren't you gonna get some sleep?"
They hadn't slept for three days and nights. At this rate, they might drop dead!
The white wolf had already jumped down into the snow and shifted into human form, starting one-arm push-ups on the ground.
Zane replied, "I'll rest after I hit 5,000."
His sweat dripped into the snow. His body felt like it was about to explode, but his eyes only grew more determined.
"Host has given birth to the 37th beastling. Species: mutated three-eyed golden eagle. Gender: male. Level: 3. Reward: various crop and medicinal herb seeds."
As the final notification faded, a "mountain" of eggs sat piled up next to Claire.
Jeffrey looked at her now-flattened belly and let out a long breath.
"Finally... It's finally over."
Jeffrey looked completely drained. He'd rather fight Davy than go through that again.
"Twenty-five eggs. Female, you're impressive!"
Even among highly fertile snake beastfolk, laying that many at once was a lot.
Claire quietly stared at the pile of eggs, her heart tight with worry.
In her past life, back in the modern world, she'd sometimes watched nature documentaries. They often showed snakes swallowing bird eggs.
She couldn't help stealing a glance at Jeffrey, who looked utterly drained at her feet. He seemed even more exhausted than she was.
"Jeffrey, thank you!"
At a moment like this, Claire felt she still needed to say it.
Without him there, how helpless would she have been, all alone?
Twenty-five eggs. Twice as many as her first time. Too bad none of them took after her. Was Rufus's bloodline really that dominant?
Jeffrey seemed lost in thought, hands resting on his knees. His long fingers were still stained with a bit of blood. But he didn't look bothered at all, just sitting there casually, completely unfazed.
Claire propped herself up with her hands, trying to sit up. Suddenly, she felt another writhing movement in her belly.
That familiar downward pressure came again.
"Oh no! There's one more!"
For some reason, this last little one was making a huge scene, kicking and thrashing around inside her. Even with the Painless Birth Pills, Claire winced in pain.
This one's definitely a troublemaker!
She lay back down, clutched her stomach, focused on her breathing, and pushed.
