My Beastly Fertility System Chapter 71: Natural Enemies

Fiona pouted.

"She brought it on herself. You can't blame anyone else for that!"

Anyway, Elodie had always favored Claire. So what if she died?

Fiona turned toward two females in the group and said, "That old healer should've died ages ago! Isn't that right, Joanna, Lillian?"

The two beastfolk she named were the females who had stayed with Elodie and served her.

They shrank backward, trying to blend into the crowd so no one would notice them.

"Weren't you two the ones who told me how much Ms. Palmer adored Claire? She taught Claire everything, but never taught you anything. And wasn't it you two who gave me the idea to go outside and look for rogue beastfolk?"

Joanna and Lillian turned pale and rushed to deny it.

"No! That's not true! You were the one who said you wanted to find someone to teach Claire a lesson—"

"Enough! All this noise is hurting my ears!"

Jeffrey shouted, cutting them off as they kept tearing into each other.

Thinking Jeffrey was on her side, Fiona softened her voice and whined sweetly, "Jeffrey, hurry up and kill that bitch Claire for me!"

Jeffrey pulled his arm away in disgust, then ordered the rogue beastfolk, "Tie them all up. Don't let a single one escape."

"Yes, boss! You're so smart!"

More than ten rogue beastfolk rushed into the crowd and tied everyone's hands behind their backs with leather straps.

Anyone who struggled had their arm ripped off and fell to the ground screaming in pain.

Rufus kept his eyes on Jeffrey warily. That Level 3 beastfolk was strong.

But as the third son of the eagle clan, he wasn't weak either.

When Fiona saw her clanmates tied up and glaring at her, she forced out a flattering smile and said, "Jeffrey, you promised me, remember?

"You said you wouldn't hurt my clanmates! Just killing Claire is enough!"

A cruel smile spread across Jeffrey's face.

"What a waste it would be to kill such a beautiful female!"

Sure that she was already trapped, he walked straight toward Claire, not even looking at Rufus standing guard.

"Jeffrey!"

Fiona ran after him, still trying to stop him. She assumed Claire was still seducing her precious Jeffrey like some shameless vixen.

Jeffrey swung his arm sharply, sending Fiona's heavy body flying away.

Claire stayed where she was, lifting her chin as she watched Jeffrey move closer.

What could she do now?

That was a Level 3 beastfolk.

"If you take another step toward Claire, I'll rip your eyes out!"

Rufus shouted, his voice filled with fury.

Jeffrey ignored him completely. He didn't even spare Rufus a glance as he kept moving forward.

Bang!

Rufus shifted into a gyrfalcon. Every feather on his body stood upright. His sharp beak snapped toward Jeffrey as he let out a loud cry. His wide wings spread out, shielding Claire behind him.

Only then did Jeffrey look at him, interest flashing in his eyes.

"Oh? So you're from the eagle clan?"

Then his calmness changed to pure hatred.

"Perfect. I'll deal with you first!"

That beast form had set his anger blazing.

Rufus's large beast body blocked Claire as he watched Jeffrey rush forward like lightning.

Jeffrey moved too fast. In a blink, he was already right in front of the gyrfalcon.

Hiss!

A brown cobra appeared instantly. Its body, more than 30 feet long, shot forward at lightning speed. It wrapped tightly around the gyrfalcon loop after loop, locking it in place within seconds.

The cobra spread its hood wide—almost three feet across—rising above the falcon's back. Its two long fangs shone with a cold, deadly glow as it hissed harshly.

"The eagle clan has killed many of my kind. Today, I'm taking revenge on you!"

Natural enemy or not, this filthy bird is going to die today!

In less than a breath, Rufus had already lost.

So Jeffrey was a cobra beastfolk. No wonder that awful mix of blood and musk clung to him.

Claire looked at the gyrfalcon twisted tightly in the snake's coils. She flipped her wrist, and a stone appeared in her hand. Without hesitation, she threw it at the cobra.

"Master, aim for the snake's weak spot!"

Pome shouted nervously in her mind.

Claire didn't slow down.

The cobra's body was twisted in so many loops. How could she possibly find the weak point exactly?

Besides, the snake was thicker than her thigh. Even if she hit the weak spot, would it really do any damage?

All she wanted now was to free Rufus.

The stone struck the cobra's body. It hissed in pain and turned its head sharply.

Claire grabbed the chance and shouted, "Rufus, shift back!"

Rufus reacted instantly. The moment the cobra lost focus, he shifted back into human form. His body shrank suddenly, and that quick change let him slip out of the tight coils.

The cobra missed its hold and slammed heavily onto the ground.

Rufus panted heavily, but he still shielded Claire.

He had badly underestimated Jeffrey.

Jeffrey lifted his snake head and looked past Rufus at Claire.

"Not bad, female. Escaping my coils that fast? That's never happened before."

His voice carried clear admiration for Claire. He didn't seem upset at all that she had just thrown a rock at him.

Around them, the other beastfolk shrank back in fear.
