Apocalypse Queen: My Space, My Rules Chapter 110: Pretty Boy Mistake
Mariella could not help smiling and said openly, "Alright, I'll call you Denton."
Denton said it was nothing, but his face lit up with a huge grin.
Harvey, who was still sprawled on the ground, finally struggled to raise his upper body. His eyes were red as he stared at Mariella chatting and laughing with Denton. Through gritted teeth, he snarled, "Mariella, the money you gave that man is mine! Mine! I have proof. My initials are engraved on that suitcase. H.G."
Denton looked carefully. Sure enough, two dark letters, "H.G.," were engraved on one side of the suitcase.
Mariella's expression did not change. She looked down at Harvey from above and sneered. "So letters carved on it prove it's yours? Why don't you call out to it and see if it answers?"
Harvey nearly spat blood. "Mariella, you stole everything from my secret room! You're vicious! That was half my life, and you took all of it..."
When he thought about the guns, ammunition, blades, gold, and the entire suitcase full of cash he had bought with all his private savings, all of it cleaned out by Mariella in one sweep, he wanted to skin her alive.
Mariella spread her hands and gave him a smile meant to infuriate him. "Do you have evidence? Why don't you call the police?"
Harvey was stunned by her shamelessness. Was this still the Mariella he remembered? She seemed like a completely different person.
Had she been possessed by an evil spirit?
He shuddered. For a moment, even all his rage would not come out.
Denton had his men load all the exchanged supplies into the bed of the diesel cargo cart, then said his goodbyes.
Mariella said meaningfully, "The economy's bad right now. Cash is losing value fast. It's smarter to convert it into supplies as soon as possible."
Denton nodded repeatedly and said gratefully, "I understand. Thank you for the reminder, Ms. Townsend."
He was a seasoned businessman. Of course he understood that logic.
It was just that no one except Mariella had been willing to spend 10 million on that pile of useless stones. If he kept them any longer, they would probably only be good for weighing down pickle jars.
Besides, selling emeralds was not even the primary objective of this trip. His real purpose had been delivering the threshing machine and corn harvester, and he had simply brought the thousand-plus pounds of stones along the way.
That meant he had basically picked up 10 million for free.
Even though money had depreciated badly, 10 million in cash could still be exchanged for quite a lot of supplies.
This trip had been pure profit for him.
Denton left with his men. Harvey could only watch helplessly as his own money was taken away. His eyes nearly split with rage, but there was nothing he could do.
After a long while, he struggled to his feet.
Jennifer stepped forward to support him, crying the whole time. "Mr. Graham, are you okay?"
Harvey spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva, along with half a tooth.
He shoved Jennifer aside and staggered toward Mariella, only to be blocked by Chandler.
Looking at the tall, powerfully built man, Harvey immediately felt threatened. He glared viciously at him. "So you're that man."
Jennifer quickly added, "Yes, him! Mariella takes him everywhere she goes. You can tell they're involved. Something's definitely going on between them..."
Harvey grew even angrier, as if he had already been cheated on by this man.
Chandler narrowed his eyes and looked Harvey up and down. "So you're Ms. Townsend's former boss."
The boss who had made Mariella work overtime every day. The boss who had squeezed her dry. A rotten capitalist.
Harvey straightened his back, but the pain in his body and his swollen pig-like face made it impossible for him to act refined and superior anymore. He could only become even more arrogant and scoff. "Hah. I wondered what kind of impressive man you were. Turns out you're just a bodyguard."
Harvey mocked Chandler's low status while arrogantly looking past him at Mariella.
"Mariella, even if you hired some man to put on a show just to get my attention, you should've picked someone with status. At least if you dragged Kieran over here to show off, I'd be impressed. You already sold me out to Kieran, so how come you still didn't win any favor from him? Tsk tsk. You hired a handsome bodyguard and keep him by your side all day. Isn't that the same as paying for a kept pretty boy..."
Before he could finish, a solid punch slammed into his stomach.
Bang! Harvey was sent flying backward. He crashed heavily onto the ground nine feet away, feeling like every bone in his body had nearly come apart.
Chandler clenched his fist. His knuckles cracked sharply as he sneered. "Do you seriously not understand what a kept pretty boy is?"
"Mr. Graham!" Jennifer screamed and rushed over, trying once again to help Harvey up.
Harvey almost blacked out. It took him a long time to catch his breath.
Mariella gave Chandler a thumbs-up in praise. "Nice hit. I'm giving you double bonus."
Chandler glanced at her and pressed his lips together.
The rest of the team exchanged looks and wisely stayed out of it.
Was this the boss's ex and current man fighting for favor? They wanted no part of that.
