Apocalypse Queen: My Space, My Rules Chapter 111: I Hit Women Too
Jennifer pinched the pressure point beneath Harvey's nose over and over, and finally managed to wake him up.
"Mr. Graham, did you forget why you came here?" she cried as she reminded him. "You said you wanted to get back together with Mariella..."
He had even specifically ordered her to act as a go-between. If he successfully reconciled with Mariella, he would give her a generous bonus. If the matter was ruined, he would deduct her perfect attendance bonus for the month.
After the apocalypse, life had become very hard. Prices had soared, salaries had shrunk, and if she lost her attendance bonus too, her life would become even tighter. Even though she deeply resented Mariella, she still had to remind Harvey of the purpose of this trip.
After Jennifer reminded him, Harvey finally remembered the real reason he had come.
That was right. He had come to reconcile with Mariella.
But after learning that Mariella was the one who had cleaned out his secret vault, all that gold, cash, firearms, treasured blades, everything had been taken in one sweep.
He had instantly gone mad and wanted to kill her on the spot.
Unfortunately, Mariella was no longer the soft target she used to be, the kind he could control easily. She was like a thorny hedgehog, like a blade drawn from its sheath, someone no one dared to cross.
With Jennifer supporting him, he finally managed to prop up his upper body. After gasping for a long while, he managed to speak in broken phrases. "Mariella, actually, I didn't come here to ask for supplies..."
When he said that, he had to suppress the urge to cough up blood again. His gold, his cash, his firearms, and the dozen treasured knives and blades he had collected... all gone!
Why did it have to be Mariella? He had never seen her true face before. He hated it.
Mariella gave a cold snort and raised a brow. "Ask for supplies? Then show me what you've got. Don't lie there like some half-dead mangy dog that can't bite anyone but still disgusts everybody."
Her eyes were full of contempt, as if she were looking at a pile of trash.
Harvey was stung by that look, but he did not dare lash out. Still unwilling to give up, he tried to coax her back by pretending to be generous. "Sigh, forget it. Better to keep wealth in the family than let outsiders have it. Sooner or later I would've given it to you anyway. Just consider it an early wedding gift..."
Before he could finish, he heard the man beside her cracking his knuckles loudly. The rest of his words died in his throat.
Mariella almost laughed out loud. Given to her? She had taken it herself. He really knew how to claim credit for something already gone.
A wedding gift? He could keep dreaming for a thousand years.
"Captain Zimmer," she said calmly, looking at Chandler, who was clenching his fists. "Beat him. Beat him hard. Best if you hit him so badly he can't take care of himself anymore. I'll take responsibility for everything."
Since this scumbag had delivered himself to her door looking for a beating, she would not be polite.
Chandler curled his lips into a smile and strode toward Harvey with overwhelming pressure.
Harvey instantly sensed danger and screamed, "Help! Somebody help me!"
He had not come completely unprepared. In order to win Mariella back and regain her trust, he had ordered his bodyguards to stay hidden.
If he did not shout for help, those bodyguards would have remained concealed.
The moment they heard their boss calling for help, the hidden bodyguards emerged one after another from the surrounding area.
Number One took one look and cursed inwardly. Damn, they're planning a group fight.
"Brothers, with me!" He led his teammates forward to meet them.
Harvey's reinforcements were intercepted by Number One and his men, so Harvey could only continue taking a beating.
Chandler grabbed Harvey, lifted him up, and pummeled him repeatedly from every angle.
Harvey was beaten senseless, rolling his eyes nonstop. Forget acting arrogant and cool. He could not even beg for mercy anymore.
The five bodyguards Harvey had brought were intercepted by Number One's team and immediately surrounded and beaten.
Five against eight. Of course the side with fewer people suffered.
At first, the five bodyguards could still block a few hits, but they were quickly beaten to the ground. Holding their heads with both hands, they cried out and begged for mercy.
Number One ignored them. As long as the boss had not said stop, they would keep hitting.
Jennifer saw Harvey and all five bodyguards getting beaten. She trembled with fear, and both her legs went weak.
Realizing she was only a weak woman and could not save any of them here, she turned to run.
Mariella stepped in front of her path just in time.
"Trying to run? Forget the door. You don't even get a window." She clenched her fists, and her knuckles cracked sharply. The crisp sound was pleasant to Mariella, but to Jennifer it sounded like a demon whispering in her ear. "They don't hit women. I do."
...
Number Five and Number Nine arrived near No. 98 with Lucky while patrolling with the property security team.
This area was part of the outer perimeter of Celestine Ridge and one of the zones most heavily attacked by alligators.
Fortunately, the entire estate had already been surrounded with barbed wire fencing, greatly reducing alligator intrusions. But if a real threat broke, the outer edge of the residential neighborhood would be the first point of impact.
And sure enough, they discovered a fierce brawl happening right outside No. 98.
