Apocalypse Queen: My Space, My Rules Chapter 160: Cutting Them Down

"Oh, let's wait a bit longer. Maybe the gate will open soon," Number Four said, forcing a calm tone. He stalled for time and refused to admit his inside contact had failed.

But they waited and waited. The iron gate didn't move at all.

The thugs began to feel something was wrong. Some of them started to pull back.

Mariella had no intention of letting them walk away. She pulled two ballistic shields out of her storage space and tossed one to Chandler. They didn't need words.

One quick look, and they understood each other.

The moment the thugs turned to retreat, their formation fell apart. That was the opening.

Mariella and Chandler moved in at once. Each held a shield in one hand and a gun in the other.

Chandler aimed at Big Nose. Mariella aimed at Harvey, who was hiding in the crowd.

Black Bear stayed inside the RV the whole time, never giving them a clear shot.

Bang! Big Nose was hit in the temple and dropped straight to the ground.

Bang! Harvey took a shot to the shoulder and staggered before falling.

Mariella wanted to finish him with one shot. Harvey wore a ballistic helmet and vest, and he stayed buried in the middle of the group. There was no clean angle.

She tracked him for a long time but couldn't find a fatal shot.

When Chandler took down Big Nose, she knew the chance wouldn't last. She fired at the only part exposed—his shoulder.

The two shots threw the whole group into chaos.

Before they could react, Chandler emptied his magazine in seconds.

Mariella slid her pistol back into her thigh holster. Using the shield for cover, she pulled out a Gatling gun from her storage space and opened fire. The roar of bullets tore through the crowd.

Both of them were excellent shots. Mariella's weapon had overwhelming firepower. The thugs were caught off guard. One after another, they dropped to the ground.

The scene turned into pure chaos. Some screamed. Some cried. Some crawled on the ground, trying to escape.

Black Bear didn't hesitate this time. He had learned from the last attack.

The moment the shots rang out, the luxury RV gunned its engine and sped away.

Mariella didn't fire at it. She was worried about damaging it—it wouldn't be easy to fix.

She planned to take that RV for herself, so she wasn't about to ruin it.

The rotary gun in her hands kept firing without pause. Chandler could swap magazines with one hand like it was nothing. The two of them worked in perfect sync, keeping a steady stream of fire the whole time.

In just a short while, they wiped out most of the hundreds of thugs. Aside from Black Bear and a small group who escaped in the chaos, nearly everyone else was down—dead or badly injured.

Using the shield as cover, Mariella put away the Gatling gun and switched to an AK.

She and Chandler moved forward together, covering each other. If anyone was still moving, they finished them off right away.

They didn't find Harvey. He had slipped away again.

Mariella felt a flicker of annoyance. Then she saw Number Four on the ground, clutching his ankle and groaning in pain. A bloodthirsty smile spread across her face.

Number Four saw them closing in. Around him, the wounded attackers were being shot one by one. His face went pale with fear.

"D-Don't kill me... I—I was forced into this!" He raised both hands at once and looked at Mariella with pleading eyes. "Ms. Townsend, I'm not like Number Seven. I didn't try to turn others against you! I-I was just here to make up the numbers!"

Chandler stepped in and kicked him hard, sending him crashing to the ground.

Before Mariella could step forward to unlock the iron gate with her fingerprint, it slowly opened on its own.

Their teammates came out in full gear, one after another. All their guns were raised, aimed straight outside.

Matthew stood just inside, holding a handgun. His eyes were sharp with caution. "Mariella, get in now!"

He had watched everything through the gate camera.

But during the fight, he didn't open the gate. He didn't want to distract Mariella and Chandler.

Only when the battle was almost over did he open it himself.

Mariella gave a quick order to Number One. "Same as always. Collect everything. Move fast."

Number One led five teammates to search the bodies. Weapons, gear, food—nothing was left behind.

Chandler dragged Number Four inside and threw him hard onto the ground.

The impact knocked the wind out of him. He grimaced in pain and couldn't even roll over.

Nearby, Number Six held a handgun, aiming at Number Ten.

Lucky stood beside him, staring her down. A low growl rumbled in his throat.

His human had told him to follow the captain's and Matthew's commands. So he obeyed Matthew's order and guarded Number Ten.

If she moved, he would jump and bite.

Number Ten's hands were tied behind her back. She knelt on the ground, hair messy, face pale.

Mariella took one look and understood everything. She glanced at Number Ten, then at Number Four, and asked calmly, "So, how did you two get involved with each other?"

Number Ten bit her lip and lowered her head. She didn't say a word.
