Apocalypse Queen: My Space, My Rules Chapter 227: Their Deal
Denton had already been waiting there. He walked across the gangplank, greeting Mariella first and then Chandler.
"Mariella, Chandler, you arrived pretty quickly."
He clearly knew what Chandler had used the Cartier ring for. Seeing how natural and comfortable the two of them looked together now, he could easily guess that things had gone well.
So, he treated Chandler with even greater respect.
A man connected to an important client naturally deserved to be treated as an honored guest.
Mariella exchanged a few pleasantries and asked, "Is the boss not here?"
"They're busy handling other transactions. This one has been fully handed over to me." Denton stroked his forehead, looking slightly proud.
His former business partners were all struggling, busy relocating to refugee bases, leaving little time for anything else. So, they simply delegated everything to him as the middleman.
That alone showed how reliable his reputation and character were. Anyone who had worked with him trusted him completely.
Especially since he had arranged this deal from the very beginning and personally connected all the parties involved, there was no chance he would miss out on his commission.
Mariella didn't waste time talking. "Check the goods first, then start loading."
Denton laughed. "Of course I trust you. But since I'm not the final decision-maker, we still have to follow the proper procedure."
A man in his 40s walked over, looking like a butler.
He stepped onto the boat to inspect the supplies and said with slight dissatisfaction, "The speedboats and kayaks aren't brand new. They're only partly used."
Mariella replied calmly, "That's exactly why they're priced this way."
A moment later, the dispatched crew returned in wooden boats.
The four wooden boats were also partly used, and each one could carry two tons.
The butler hesitated briefly, but he still contacted his employer to explain the situation.
As expected, the client still agreed.
After all, partly used wooden boats still worked perfectly for transport. Even used inflatable boats and kayaks were still in high demand in today's market. There would be no difficulty trading them for supplies.
The butler checked the boats once again and counted every item before moving them.
As for the 500 pounds of cold weapons, they were already packed and placed onto the scale.
Mariella had intentionally added an extra ten pounds, which made the final result very satisfying for them.
A truck drove onto the scale while empty, and its weight was recorded in front of Mariella.
Then, more than ten workers started loading gemstones into the truck bed.
Denton watched carefully and repeatedly reminded the butler, "Ms. Townsend is my long-term client. I've personally guaranteed the quality. There must be zero issues."
The butler nodded repeatedly. "Boss has also given instructions. Don't worry, Mr. Mack. The goods are absolutely fine."
Mariella didn't care much. Once the gemstones entered her storage space, their authenticity would be confirmed instantly.
Very soon, the truck was filled. The scale showed the total weight, then automatically subtracted the empty truck weight and displayed a final amount of 48,100 pounds.
"Boss said the gemstones were just pulled out of the water, so some moisture weight had to be considered. Treat this as a favor to Mr. Mack," the butler explained.
So they added an extra hundred pounds of gemstones to make up for the water weight loss.
Denton naturally understood how stingy traders could be. That level of compromise was already considered generous.
He looked at Mariella, who nodded readily.
The truck rolled off the scale and drove onto the wooden boat using the gangplank.
That wooden boat had originally been taken from Black Bear. It was the biggest one, with a carrying capacity of ten tons. It was more than capable of holding a truck.
Moreover, the truck was only mid-sized and carried less than 50 thousand pounds.
Workers boarded the wooden boat to help unload the gemstones.
Soon, the deck was piled into a small mountain of gemstones.
Denton expressed his thanks to Mariella. "Thanks to you lending me the wooden boats, they've been extremely useful these past few days. After this deal is finished, I'll definitely repay you properly."
She smiled. "No hurry. I'll probably need your help more than once."
She intended to quickly exchange the supplies inside her storage space for food, and she would need Denton to act as a middleman for those deals.
"No problem. Just say the word—I've got you covered!" Denton thumped his chest.
After unloading, the empty truck returned the same way.
The butler removed the gangplank and waved goodbye politely. "Ms. Townsend, I look forward to our next cooperation."
Denton also waved. "Mariella, Chandler, travel safely!"
...
The wooden boat moved farther away. After confirming that nobody was nearby, Mariella stored all the gemstones piled on the deck into her storage space.
The moment nearly 50 thousand pounds of gemstone entered the space, the energy field surged violently, making her body sway unsteadily.
