Apocalypse Queen: My Space, My Rules Chapter 184: Black Bear's Hunt Begins

"Are there weapons in here?" she asked, a bad feeling creeping in.

The buzz-cut guy avoided her eyes and stammered, "Y-yeah, this is the place."

Chandler raised his gun and shot the lock. Then he kicked the door open.

Mariella grabbed the man and tossed him inside to test the room.

"Ow!" He hit the floor hard and cried out.

The two of them followed in with guns ready.

They both wore night-vision goggles so they could see clearly without turning on the lights.

There was no ambush inside, but there were no guns either. Instead...

Mariella looked around, and her anger turned into surprise. "Dog food? Pet cans! Freeze-dried stuff! Wow, there's a lot!"

Lucky was going to eat well.

When Black Bear's group looted supplies, they took pet food too.

The pets themselves had already been killed for meat. The food wasn't needed, so it had all been dumped into this storage room.

The buzz-cut man, after being thrown in, pulled a hidden dagger from his boots. He rolled on the ground and lunged at Mariella's legs.

Bang! Chandler was faster.

The bullet hit the man straight in the chest. He died on the spot.

"Keep watch. I'll grab food for Lucky," Mariella said as she put away her gun. Then she swept everything into her storage space—hundreds of bags of dog food, over a thousand cans, and hundreds of pounds of freeze-dried meat.

It was enough to feed Lucky for the rest of his life.

Chandler stood guard at the door, gun ready. When Mariella came out, he said in a low voice, "I think the armory is near Black Bear's room. He doesn't trust anyone but himself."

Mariella nodded. "Then let's move fast. We'll wipe out his armory before he gets back."

...

The homeowners at Celestine Ridge trusted Mariella completely. They followed her orders without question.

With Kieran pushing things along, everyone focused on defense.

Every house had installed reinforced glass or high-voltage fences. That made it harder for Black Bear's group to break in.

On top of that, the homeowners helped each other. If one house was attacked, the others rushed to help.

For now, they were holding the line. No more houses had fallen. On the other hand, the villas taken over by Harvey and Tigre had no defenses.

Black Bear went after the easy targets. He demanded that Harvey and Tigre hand over all the supplies from those houses.

But Harvey was no longer in charge. Tigre had taken over.

And Tigre had no intention of giving up what he had already taken. A fight between the two sides was unavoidable.

The homeowners sent drones to record the battle. The footage was shared in the group chat.

People started talking. "Mariella was right. As long as we defend our homes, Tigre will keep them busy for a couple of days."

"I heard Harvey's done for. Is that true?"

"Yeah, it's true! I heard his woman is with Tigre now."

"Serves him right."

...

Black Bear led his men and took over Harvey's No. 6 villa, but they found almost no supplies.

He grabbed one of Harvey's followers and forced him to talk. That's when he learned the supplies had been moved to No. 8.

He rushed over with his men. They got in easily. No resistance at all. But the place was empty.

"Didn't they say there were two helicopters here?" he snapped, pointing his gun at the guard.

The man turned pale and shook like a leaf. "M-maybe Tigre took them! He even took Mr. Graham's woman!"

Black Bear remembered her. His interest sparked right away.

"Tigre took Harvey's woman?" he said, rubbing his chin. He sounded a little regretful.

That soft, pretty woman had caught his eye. Too bad Tigre got to her first.

"I heard Mr. Graham's useless now. Tigre's the boss," the guard said quickly, trying to switch sides. "Black Bear, let me join you! I'll follow you anywhere."

"Fine," Black Bear said without hesitation. He waved his large hand. "You lead the way. Tonight, we take down Villa No. 1! Tigre? In front of me, even a dragon has to bow and a tiger has to lie down!"

Villa 101 was Tigre's base. If they took it, Tigre's forces would collapse.

And once Tigre was gone, the other villas he controlled would fall into Black Bear's hands too.

But before any good news could come, bad news hit one after another.

First, the reinforcements from Elmgrove Estates somehow lost their boats right under their noses. Then even worse news arrived: their base at Elmgrove Estates had been wiped out.
