Apocalypse Queen: My Space, My Rules Chapter 37: Unlimited Storage Space

Number One stared at the newly credited amount in his account, speechless.

The boss always finds one excuse or another to transfer me money, and aside from silently accepting it, I really have no other option.

If this keeps going, if the boss ever makes unreasonable demands of me, I won't even know how to refuse.

"On your way out, tell Captain Zimmer to come in," Mariella said, already moving on to the next person.

Number One, still conflicted, was stunned.

...

Number One walked out carrying a heavy stack of hard drives, ignoring the curious looks around him, and said only to Chandler, "Ms. Townsend wants you inside."

Once Chandler entered the office and shut the door, the bodyguards immediately gathered around Number One.

"Hey, that was fast. Done already?"

"Boss called Captain Zimmer in right after. Guess she wasn't too satisfied with you."

Number One grabbed the loudmouth with one hand and clenched his fist with the other.

"Wanna test me?"

"Hey, hey, relax. I was just joking."

Amid their laughter and banter, the office door opened again, and Chandler walked out alongside Mariella.

"Dismissed. Everyone except those on watch, back to your posts," Chandler ordered. "Rest tonight. Anyone who fails tomorrow's evaluation is out."

At the mention of tomorrow's evaluation, some of the bodyguards who knew they weren't strong enough immediately lost the mood to joke around.

"Woof!" Lucky bared his teeth, driving them upstairs.

Once the first floor finally quieted down, Mariella had Lucky guard the staircase before following Chandler into the storage room.

"The supplies you asked for are basically all stocked. The temporary warehouses are full. The military gear delivered today is stored in the room you cleared out," Chandler said, turning on the lights.

Mariella's eyes lit up as she looked at the room filled with military equipment.

Black combat uniforms, black face masks, raincoats, military boots, outdoor boots, tactical gloves, belts, backpacks, canteens, stun batons, entrenching shovels... Everything was there.

Mariella picked up an entrenching shovel. The length and weight felt just right. The blade was sharp, gleaming coldly, clearly made from high-quality steel.

An entrenching shovel could be used for both offense and defense, with an adjustable handle. It was definitely a powerful tool for survival in the apocalypse.

"This is a great weapon. You've got good taste," she praised.

She hadn't used one herself, but she'd seen others use them in her previous life. It could chop, slice, stab, and dig. It was extremely practical.

Seeing her satisfied, Chandler continued, "Even though the evaluation hasn't happened yet, I've already run projections and estimated the results. So these uniforms and boots were ordered according to the sizes of those likely to pass."

"Good. I trust your judgment. You're usually spot on," Mariella said, thoroughly pleased with her capable subordinate.

The only thing that unsettled her was that he had already figured out the secret of her storage space.

Mariella shot him a glance. "You didn't tell anyone about the stockpiling, did you?"

"No. When the deliveries arrived, I sent everyone upstairs for training. The guards saw some of it, but the shifts rotate, so it wasn't the same people each time. As for the diesel, gasoline, and gas tank purchases, Number One and the four others handled them separately. Some things can't be completely hidden."

The ones he sent to handle fuel purchases were all male bodyguards, most of whom had a good chance of passing the evaluation.

Mariella nodded. "I knew you'd handle things carefully."

Chandler didn't respond. He knew she hadn't called him in just to praise him.

Mariella continued, "The heatwave will last for several days. Moving right now isn't convenient. I'll handle transporting the supplies. You focus on tomorrow's evaluation, then take those who pass, pack up, and head straight to Celestine Ridge to settle in."

She sent him the location and building number, then briefly went over room assignments.

"Other than the main bedroom, the largest secondary bedroom on the second floor is yours. The remaining five rooms will be shared, two per room. If the number of female bodyguards is odd, adjust accordingly. Lucky's kennel goes on the first floor. He'll handle security."

"Got it."

Once they finished discussing business, Mariella immediately stored all the supplies in the storage room.

Then she had him open the other warehouses and stored five tons of diesel, a ton of gasoline, and two hundred gas tanks in her storage space.

As for the bulky equipment like diesel generators, solar panels, and 18 large freezers.

All of it was large and difficult to transport, so she stored everything in her storage space.

Chandler finally couldn't hold back and asked, "Is your storage space unlimited?"

"No," Mariella didn't hide it and answered honestly. "It's completely full right now. I can't fit anything else in."

Chandler looked at the now-empty warehouses and said nothing.

As they were leaving, Mariella suddenly said to him, "Is there anyone you want to take care of? If there is, you can bring her along."
