Apocalypse Queen: My Space, My Rules Chapter 178: A New Boss Rises
Mariella had tested him with a few questions and soon figured it out. He hadn't been reborn. He had only remembered a few scattered flashes.
He remembered how skilled she was with a blade. He remembered that she had once fought for him. But he did not remember her storage space ability.
If he did, he would have used it against her already.
Still, there was no guarantee he wouldn't remember everything later.
Cutting his tongue would reduce some of the risk.
"If you want to be safe, killing him is safer," Chandler said, watching her.
Mariella raised an eyebrow. "I know what you're thinking. You think I still have feelings for him? I just don't want him to die too easily."
In this cruel apocalypse, dying early was almost a kind of mercy.
She wanted Harvey to stay alive. To suffer. To live a miserable life.
In this life, she wouldn't stand in front of him anymore. She wouldn't protect him. She wouldn't shield Roxanna either. She wanted to see how they would end up on their own.
She hoped he would stick to his choice. Never change his mind.
...
After Black Bear arrived at Celestine Ridge, he launched several attacks. He managed to take over Greenfield Organic Farm and Imperial Crest Plaza, but everything else failed.
Especially today's attack on the Hancocks—it ended in total defeat. Even Big Strong was killed.
Black Bear went crazy with rage. He shot several of his men who had run back.
"Where's Harvey? Tell him to get over here!" He decided not to act personally for now. It was safer to let others do the dirty work.
But the answer he got made his face darken. "Boss, Harvey tried to run while we were attacking the Hancocks. But his own guy, Tigre, caught him and took him back."
"Tigre? That punk under Harvey?"
"He's the boss now. All of Harvey's men switched to him. He's tough and refuses to work with us."
Black Bear came to Celestine Ridge to grab supplies and expand his territory.
But he hit hard walls one after another. First at No. 98, then at the Hancocks. He suffered heavy losses.
After all that, more than half of his men were gone. Of five brothers, only he and Goldilocks were left.
Fury and shock hit him at once. "I don't believe this!" he roared. "Call everyone guarding Elmgrove Estates. Bring them all here! If I don't take Celestine Ridge, I'm not leaving!"
...
Mariella had a great night's sleep. When she woke up, she felt fresh and full of energy. She went into the yard and practiced with her knife for a while.
In her past life, she used daggers most of the time. Her skills were excellent.
Not because she preferred them, but because Harvey kept telling her ammo was too precious. He drilled it into her head that she shouldn't waste it unless it was an emergency.
So she fought up close most of the time.
That kind of fighting left her covered in scars. It wore down her body early and filled her with pain. In the end, Harvey treated her like a disposable pawn and killed her.
This time, she would avoid close combat unless necessary. Most of the time, she used guns.
She had plenty of ammo in her storage space anyway. Her "lack of firepower" problem was finally cured.
Her teammates were eating in the dining hall. She stayed in the yard, claiming she was doing light fasting, while practicing shooting on the swing.
She told everyone she didn't eat dinner. Over time, they got used to it and stopped calling her.
After finishing, she wiped the swing clean and sat on it, gently swaying.
But in truth, her mind had already entered her storage space to check the new changes.
After looting Harvey's vault, her static zone had increased by 1,350 cubic feet. The total was now about 18,000 cubic feet.
She had also gained two helicopters, several luxury cars, and a huge amount of supplies. Even after all that, she still had 1,500 cubic feet of free space left.
The villa had expanded by 160 square feet, bringing it to about 8,300 square feet. The ceiling height had increased to 10 feet, making the whole place feel more open.
The four floors didn't seem much bigger, though. In fact, they looked slightly smaller.
So where did the extra space go?
Mariella looked carefully and soon found the answer. The villa now had a basement.
It was nearly 2,100 square feet, with a 10-foot ceiling—about 600 cubic feet of storage space.
That meant she had gained an extra 600 cubic feet.
She could move long-lasting supplies into the basement and free up space for fresh items.
Mariella almost fell off the swing from excitement.
She steadied herself and kept checking. The garden had expanded by about 700 square feet, now totaling around 2,850 square feet.
And the crops were ready to harvest.
