Apocalypse Queen: My Space, My Rules Chapter 114: Trading for Life
Even if her storage space was exposed one day, the other side would have no way to grab it.
Only then did Mariella felt relieved.
Harvey was badly injured. Along with Jennifer and the five bodyguards who were also seriously hurt, they were all sent to the hospital by helicopter.
After the disaster, order had gotten messy and hospitals had almost turned into shelters. All kinds of people were crammed inside.
Because it was too crowded and messy, there had been many violent attacks on doctors and there were no rooms or beds. Even the doctors had vanished.
With no other choice, they had to send everyone back to Celestine Ridge by helicopter.
The Grahams used all their connections and spent a large amount of supplies before finally finding a surgeon.
The doctor was brought to Graham Residence and treated the injured.
He only cleaned the wounds with saline and did some simple bandaging.
"Each of them has bone cracks, but luckily no fractures. Just rest and recover slowly," the doctor said helplessly as he took off his disposable gloves. "Medicine is scarce right now. You'll have to find your own treatment for injuries."
Then he pointed specifically at Harvey and said to Viola, "He was severely scratched and bitten by a dog. He needs tetanus and rabies shots right away."
Viola quickly said, "Then arrange it right away."
The doctor frowned. "The hospital pharmacy has no vaccines left. You need to find a way yourselves."
Because of the sudden flood, the hospital's storage had been hit hard. Although it didn't completely collapse like the food supply warehouse, it was still heavily damaged.
Especially after being flooded, the refrigerators that stored vaccines had all lost power.
Although medical refrigerators are required to have backup batteries for power outages, they are not waterproof.
After the flood, all the medicine fridges were totally ruined. The valuable vaccines inside couldn't be saved.
Viola was stunned. "Then, what should we do?"
The doctor gave a suggestion. "Try asking around. See if anyone has these vaccines stored at home. Offer a high price. Isn't it said that great rewards bring brave people? Your family has money. As long as the price is high enough, you should be able to get them."
"Both vaccines must be injected within 24 hours to work. You must move fast, or else it's a matter of life and death. You should know how serious the consequences are."
When Mariella saw the pinned help message in the Celestine Ridge group chat, she revealed a cold smile.
She quickly messaged Kieran: "Mr. Hancock, want to make a deal?"
"So you won't contact me unless it's business?" Kieran replied, sounding a bit annoyed.
Mariella sent a shrug emoji, completely unapologetic. "If it's not business, why would I contact you?"
Kieran was speechless and simply ignored her.
"Don't sulk. I'm talking about something serious," Mariella casually coaxed him before continuing, "I see that Mr. Graham is in critical condition. The Grahams is offering a high price for medicine and vaccines. I thought I'd do a good deed and help them out."
Kieran continued listening.
He usually liked to say "Don't be sulky, I'm talking about serious business" when he was flirting with women. But today, he was the one sulky?
What's going on?
He realized that whenever he dealt with Mariella, something always felt off.
He didn't know what was wrong or whose fault it was.
"I've got supplies for external injuries—antibiotic spray, pain relief cream, pain relief patches, you name it. Prices are a bit steep, though. I also have tetanus shots and rabies vaccines, but those cost even more. You handle the negotiation with the Grahams. If they're willing to meet my price, I'll step in and help." Mariella ignored his mood and got straight to business
In times like this, what's the point of being sensitive?
A billionaire heir who had never suffered would get used to it sooner or later.
Not only would he be offended by words, but being physically offended would probably become more common too.
She was just helping him get used to it early.
After a while, Kieran finally responded, "Your dad just called me. He complained about you a lot. He said you killed your husband and tried to kill your father, beat innocent people, are cold and heartless, and told me to handle you fairly."
"Oh," Mariella replied slowly. "What do you plan to do about it, Mr. Hancock?"
Seeing how calm she was, Kieran gave up and answered honestly, "I told him to report it to the police."
"Alright, let's not waste time on useless matters. Let's talk about something helpful instead," Mariella had zero interest in Connor's complaints.
She only cared about one thing. "You go and talk to the Grahams about this deal for me. Don't say the medicine is mine. You can keep one-third of the supplies we get. If you ever need help in the future, just ask. I'll be there."
