Apocalypse Queen: My Space, My Rules Chapter 129: Nice Shot
The second Harvey caught sight of the bodyguard's tall, solid frame and heard the dog's savage barking, his whole body started trembling, his legs going weak.
"Ah, Mariella wasn't in the villa after all!" Roxanna's eyes lit up in surprise and excitement. She shoved the shaken Harvey and urged him anxiously, "Hurry, tell your people to move!"
...
Mariella and Chandler stepped out of the darkness into the brightly lit entrance of the villa, instantly turning into moving targets.
The moment the gunfire erupted, each of them somehow had a bulletproof shield in hand.
No one saw how it happened, but somehow each of them had one.
They held the shields up with one arm and fired with the other.
Every moving shadow was within their line of fire.
Most of the attackers didn't even get close before they were shot.
Mariella and Chandler didn't waste a single shot. In moments, they cleared out a whole wave.
The second Chandler ran out, he swapped magazines one-handed without missing a beat. Then, he stepped in front of Mariella to cover her.
Under his protection, Mariella reloaded just as fast.
She couldn't help but admire how smoothly he handled a one-handed reload. She would definitely have to learn that from him later.
Another round of gunfire followed. No one could push forward, let alone tighten the encirclement.
Number Four and Number Seven stood there, stunned. They knew Chandler was good, but they hadn't expected Mariella's aim to be every bit as good as Chandler's.
Hiding in the shadows, Harvey stared in disbelief. Since when had Mariella gotten this good with a gun?
Working in perfect sync, Mariella and Chandler covered each other as they tore through the attackers.
The figures lurking in the dark were wiped out before they could even gather.
Harvey stared in disbelief. For a second, he thought his eyes were playing tricks on him.
Even Roxanna forgot to act sweet. She stammered, "Mariella... she actually dares to kill people!"
It was terrifying. She had never seen this dangerously violent side of Mariella before.
She was killing without hesitation.
...
The iron gate slowly opened, and Number One led the team out to back them up.
Each of them held a ballistic shield they had just gotten from Matthew. Number One carried a compact pistol, while the rest were armed with nail guns.
Lucky dashed out as well, barking wildly toward a direction in the dark.
"Ms. Townsend, get inside!" Number One called out urgently.
Mariella didn't move. Instead, her gaze shifted to Number Four and Number Seven.
Cold sweat broke out across their foreheads as they tried to slip away in the chaos.
Chandler moved in an instant, knocking them both back inside with a rapid series of kicks.
"Lucky, go!" he ordered.
Lucky immediately lunged at Number Four and Number Seven, biting down on each of them.
Number Four and Number Seven screamed in pain. Just as Number Four tried to get up, a compact pistol pressed against his temple.
"Don't move!" Matthew had his finger on the trigger, ready to fire at any moment.
Number Four froze on the spot, not daring to move.
Number Seven tried to push himself up, only to find a gun aimed straight at him.
"Don't move!" Serena stood about ten feet away, holding a compact pistol, her face cold and sharp. "Try anything, and I'll shoot!"
Number Seven stiffened, then let out a half shrug. "Serena, that's just a toy gun, isn't it?"
The second he moved, a bullet grazed the inside of his thigh, and blood spilled out.
"Ah!" Number Seven let out a blood-curdling scream. He clutched his injured leg as cold sweat poured down his face.
Mariella and Chandler moved back inside, and Number One led the rest of the team in as well.
The heavy iron gate slowly shut behind them.
Lucky ran back to the entrance, still barking wildly at the door.
Watching how worked up Lucky was, Mariella had a good idea that Harvey was hiding somewhere nearby.
Lucky hated Harvey. The moment it caught his scent or heard his voice, it would go into a frenzy mode.
But Mariella didn't send it out. The other side had guns.
The enemy was hidden in the dark, while they were exposed in the light. Letting Lucky out would be too risky.
As the iron gate shut, it sealed off the fighting and the danger outside.
All eyes turned to Number Four and Number Seven. No one spoke.
Once Matthew was sure everything was under control, he pulled the gun from Number Four's forehead and stood up.
Number One and Number Two stepped forward and searched them both. As expected, they found no weapons.
Not even the short combat knives every bodyguard was supposed to carry.
Number Seven clutched his thigh where the bullet had grazed him. His arm had also been bitten by Lucky. He was in so much pain his teeth were chattering, and his face had gone pale.
Mariella reached out and ruffled Serena's hair. "Nice shot."
Serena flashed a bright grin, showing a neat row of teeth. "Thanks. Dad says I'm a great shooter too!"
She usually trained with a nail gun, but the basics were the same.
