Falling For The Biker: The Vice President's Girl Chapter 106

Ezra

"You good, Kelsie?" Ray asks.

I stare at her through the rear mirror as she bobs her head with a happy smile on her face. Donovan types away on his phone, a permanent scowl on his face.

He always looks grumpy. Though, I've not really gotten to know him, but he's...efficient.

"For someone who doesn't know what we're walking into, you're not worried at all," I say to Kelsie, making the turn to the pit.

She shrugs. "I trust you guys."

So much faith in us. Faith that I, myself didn't have enough of. Ray and I glance at each other, matching frowns on our faces.

"That's their car." Ray points to the black jeep at the distance and my phone beeps.

Donovan and Ray step out and I use that opportunity to quickly read the text from AJ.

AJ: If you're with Wren, go back. I'm here, and I've been instructed to grab her no matter what.

I look back at Kelsie, relief washing over me as I shoot back a text.

Me: She's here. We'll try to talk to Lydia.

AJ: Christ, Ezzy. Fine, do what you want. Don't reply to this, and delete the thread.

I don't reply. And yes, I lied to my brother. I don't want to drag him into my mess. He's already in a tough position.

Can't wait for all these to be done with so he can walk out of there—we can walk out of this life.

There's a tap on my window. "Aren't you coming, EJ?"

I step out of the car. "Sorry, had to respond to a message."

He gives me a look and raises a subtle brow. He's asking if it's AJ, and so I reply with a small nod.

"Let's go," Ray instructs. "Donovan, stay with Kelsie."

Ray and I walk side by side while Torch and Clay follow behind us. I see AJ, leaning by the door of their jeep.

He nods at us—me—and we all nod back.

It's been months since I saw my little brother. He looks...good actually.

Brown hair sleeked back like the perfectionist he is, brown eyes framed by thick lashes and his scowling lips.

Ajax Jax...the prettiest Jax. That was what people called him, and it's true. He hated it, still does.

My lips twitch at the reminder.

When the car doors open, I straighten.

And she walks out.

Lydia Smith.

Ray's mother. Wren's step mother.

I've never met her, but I saw her pictures at the house when Ray and I became close.

"Why are you doing this?" Ray blurts.

Jesus, their resemblance is nearly uncanny.

Her red-stained lips curl downwards. "That's no way to greet your mother."

"Mother?" Ray spits. "The moment you walked out, you became dead to me. Now, why are you doing this...Lydia?"

"Very well then. I'm not speaking until I see Wren. That was the deal."

My jaw ticks. "She's in the car. We don't trust you to bring her out here."

"Reggie's in the car, if you're wondering." She glares at me.

I snort. "I'm not wondering."

"You're not going unpunished for what you did to him, Ezra Jax."

"If that's a threat, you better back it up."

Ray clears his throat. "That's not why we're here."

"Where is Wren?" Lydia hisses. "The longer you waste my time, the more I'm forced to believe you played a fast one on me. And there would be repercussions for those who do not fulfill their end of a deal."

This is coming from a woman who has planned to hurt Wren if she sees her. In this world, deals are just a nice way to get you to put your guard down.

"Like we said, she's in the car," Ray replies.

"Well, bring her out."

I cross my arms. "I don't trust you not to hurt her, Lydia. We've got evidence that she's in there."

"Some stupid video or photo? No way, I need the real human being to step out of that vehicle."

"Just tell us why you want her. What has she ever done to you?" Ray frowns. "You left her, you left us. And now you want to hurt her?"

This is why I asked Ray if he's got mommy issues. He's not tough enough at this point, and I knew he wouldn't be.

It's okay to still grieve or still hurt, but he should've let me handle this...alone.

"Let's leave, Ray," I tell him. "This deal will not pull through."

Lydia cackles. "What? Leave then! You think I'd ask you to stay? Renegotiate? Never, Ezra. You don't know me, neither do you know what I'm capable of."

"You don't know me either. Reggie only got a taste of what I can do, he's lucky he didn't get the full extent of my rage."

Her laughter dies. "You nearly killed my brother."

"The next time he comes for me or my club, he will pray for death and he won't find it because death will be letting him off easy."

"How dare you, you silly little boy!" She growls, then whirls on AJ. "Hurt him. Hurt him good."

Ray and I freeze.

AJ inhales sharply. "Okay."

He cracks his knuckles, and my blood runs cold. I cannot fight my brother. I will not.

"No one is hurting anyone!" Ray shouts, stepping up to Lydia's face. "If you touch even a hair on his head, Lydia, you're asking for a fucking war."

Finally! Ray's back. Jesus Christ.

I raise my brow to AJ, and he shakes his head, jaw tight. He's warning me to shut my fucking mouth. If I don't, Lydia will force him to hurt me.

"AJ, I gave you an instruction." She steps back calmly. "War be damned."

Guess I didn't have to speak a word.

When AJ rushes toward me, Torch and Clay step forward but I shake my head. "I can take him."

He throws a punch, which I dodge.

"I don't want to hurt you," I mutter inaudibly, twisting out of his hold.

He grunts. "Me neither. But I've been given specific instructions."

"I'll let you hurt me."

"You have to hit me back."

"I can't."

His punch lands straight on my cheek, and I stagger back. Blood coats my mouth from when I bite down on it.

I spit it out and he comes for me again.

"I'm sorry bro, but you've got to fight me back!"

He twists my wrist and I scream, chest heaving. "Fuck!" I push him off.

Ray's shouting something to Lydia, Torch and Clay look like they're ready to jump in any moment.

"I thought you had knives, AJ. Use your knives!" Lydia yells. "Cut him up, I need to see his blood flow the same way he saw Reggie's blood flow."

"This was not the fucking plan!" Ray screams.

"Bring Wren out of the damn car, and I'll make AJ stop."

AJ takes out his knives. No one notices, but I see the slight second of hesitation in his eyes and the unwillingness to do this.

But we both have appearances to keep up with. And if his boss needs him to cut me, I'll let him cut me.

"I'll tell you where I'm gonna cut, and you'll move out of the way," he mumbles, rubbing the blades of the knives together.

I give a small nod.

And he strikes. "Left arm."

I move my right and he cuts me. I feel the cut in my bones as I see the white beneath my skin. It's indescribable, sharp and so fucking painful.

"Jesus, fuck!" I swear through gritted teeth, clutching my arm.

Blood seeps out rapidly, quickly coating my fingers and dripping to the floor.

His eyes widen but he quickly recovers. "What the fuck, man?"

"Stop!" Lydia calls, looking down at her phone.

Thank fuck.

Bloody hell.

"You don't have Wren in that vehicle," she says eerily, glancing at all of us.

Ray frowns. "What are you talking about?"

"Wren is not in that vehicle." She scoffs. "You've all wasted my time. AJ, get in the car."

"I'm so sorry, man. Get that wound cleaned up, immediately," AJ says and gets into the car.

"Lydia..."

She glares at all of us, steps into her car and the driver pulls out, leaving dust of smoke in their wake.

"Fuck!" Ray shouts. "All this for what? For nothing! How the fuck did she know that? What the actual fuck?"

Clay frowns. "She got a text."

"What?"

"Yea," Torch agrees. "Just before she announced that Wren wasn't in the car, she got a text."

And that confirms everything I've been suspecting.

"We have a mole, Ray," I say. "And we have to fish them out."

"Clay, send word for a meeting tomorrow morning. Everyone should be present," he says. "And I mean every single person in this MC."

"Yes, prez."

"Let's get out of here."
