Falling For The Biker: The Vice President's Girl Chapter 96
Wren
"Chirp, hey!" Ray's voice comes in through the phone.
"Hi, Ray. How're you? How's Quincy?"
"I am exhausted with this baby," she complains. "I need her out ASAP."
"Four more weeks, you're doing great."
"That's what I tell her everyday," Ray mumbles, and I hear a small kissing sound before he concentrates on the call again. "When are you both returning?"
I raise my brows to Ezra across the room.
"The day after tomorrow," he mouths, and I repeat the words to Ray.
"That's good," he hums. "We've not heard anything from Reggie and his men but we're still being cautious. I need to talk to you when you get back Wren."
"Talk about what?"
"Mom."
My lips fall open. "Mom? Has she…has she reached out? Why now?"
"She hasn't. We can't talk over the phone, so when you get back, okay?"
"O-okay," I breathe, then let out a nervous chuckle. You've got me worried, though."
"There's nothing to worry about. EJ will take care of you."
Ezra crosses his arms, and nods firmly as if to say 'hell yes'.
A small smile cracks across my face. "Yea, he will. Take care of Quincy. My arm's all better now, though."
"Damn. That was the main reason I actually called, to ask about your arm, totally slipped my mind."
"That's fine. It's healing nice and slow." I chance a look at the slightly raised skin that's flattening out.
"Alright Chirp, get home soon. I'll call EJ in a bit."
"M'kay. Take care of Quincy and the baby."
"Always."
When the call ends, Ezra strides toward me and helps me lace up my boots.
After dinner last night, we came up tired and slept until I was woken by Ezra's lips and dick.
A very pleasant way to wake up if you ask me.
"How's your leg? Is this really a good idea?" I frown, taking in the band around his bad thigh.
He helps me up. "I'm fine, promise. Let's head out."
I'm not convinced.
We open our door the exact moment Andre raises his hand to knock.
"Seems we're all up." He grins. "Shall we? I know a nice hiking spot, I've visited twice."
"That's a very necessary information, Andi." Ezra pats his back, and soon we're all heading into elevators dressed in sport gear with a bag pack that contains a bottle of water and protein bars.
Teeth clenched, I glare at Ezra. "You better be okay out there."
He's not okay.
Not in the slightest.
This is not the time to say 'I told you so,' but I say it anyway.
"I told you this was a bad idea, babe. I told you when we got to the room, I told you this morning, but no," I snap. "You like to think you're invincible, now look."
He groans, sweat beading on his forehead. "You're gorgeous when you're mad."
"Are you serious right now?" I slap my hands on my hips. "How are you going to get down?"
Successfully, we managed to hike up to the top of this hill. It was all fun and games when we sat to indulge a bit, in snacks, in water and even in conversation.
Until it was time to get up and Ezra buckled over, nearly toppling us down the hill. It'd have been disastrous, I promise.
"Maybe I could take him over my back?" Andre suggests.
"Like hell I'd let you do that," Ezra spits. "You're great, man. Nice guy, but no. I will not let you carry me like I'm some crippled man."
"Aren't you currently crippled?"
He glares at me. "I'm just in pain, Wr—oh my fucking god…" his eyes squeeze shut.
With a sigh, I sit beside him while Andre and Judi just watch us, soundlessly.
Thankfully, they don't ask questions. Somehow they're able to decipher that it's more than just a normal pain.
"Why don't you ever just listen to me?" I mutter, sliding my hand into his hair.
If I can soothe his pain in any way, I would. I'd give it my all so he'd stop hurting.
The only thing I can do though is be there for him, quietly. At least he isn't trying to hide from me—from us—this time.
Judi dabs at the sweat on his forehead, and I give her an appreciative smile.
"Don't look at me like that, Judi," he croaks. "I'm not dying."
"You're pale. You look like you're dying," she retorts.
Andre snorts. "While Ezra comes down from his pain…Wren, Judi told me about your brother and his probable disapproval."
I sigh. "It's…yeah, we hope he doesn't disapprove."
"Do you think people know?"
Ezra stiffens beside me, and when I glance at him, he clears his throat.
"No," I reply with a frown. "At least not that I know of. We've been careful… for the most part."
"Here's my advice. Tell him, both of you. Someone may find out, someone could already know. Even if it's over the phone, just let him know from you."
So many times I've heard this advice, and I'm down with it. But Ezra and I need to be a team, I'm waiting for him.
"We will. When we get back from the trip."
"Good, good. It hurts less when you hear it from the horse's mouth." He smiles bitterly. "Trust me."
Ezra's breathing seems to return to normal, his legs stretch out in front of him and he lays down on the ground.
"Yea," he rasps. "We just need to catch him at the right time."
I tap his thigh softly. "Feel better?"
"Yes, love."
"Think you can make it down?"
"If he can't, I've been told I have a sturdy back," Andre says.
Judi pats his back. "It's true. He does."
"I can definitely make it down," Ezra responds. "Just give me a moment to catch my breath."
"Where would we go next today?" Judi asks.
When Andre parts his lips to respond, I cut in. "I think I'll choose a place this time. Somewhere that won't hurt my boyfriend."
"Aww look at you. Lover girl and lover boy." Judi makes kissy sounds.
Andre jerks her to himself, whispering something in her ear that makes her go red.
"I think I need you around more," I say. "Seems you're the only one that can get her to shut up."
"Hey!" She glares, cheeks still flushed.
I laugh. "What did he say? I need to know."
She grins. "He said if I keep making those kissy noises, he'll put my mouth to good use."
Ezra huffs a laugh, standing up, while my jaw drops.
"God, Judi." Andre face palms.
He's just getting started with her mouth.
"You better put her mouth to good use, Andi."
