Wren

I bump into Judi the moment I burst into the regular bar.

"Goodness, Wren! We got worried!" Judi exclaims. "We were coming to get you."

I grab her hand. "Ezra's a tool. Come on, we're leaving."

"W-what—"

The words are barely out of her lips when I'm dragging her back to Liam and Mateo.

"But first, I have to do something," I tell Judi.

"Do what?" She nearly shrieks, her hand tightening in mine.

Liam gets up immediately he sees us approaching.

I reach him in three strides.

"Wren, are y—"

His words cut off as I grab him by the shirt, and pull him to me. My lips close over his, and I kiss him.

Liam stiffens, but relaxes a minute after. Soon enough, he's returning my kiss, hands pulling me closer by the waist.

My tongue slides into his warm mouth, and his lips part wider. His length digs into my stomach.

I moan.

"Damn," Mateo whistles. "Are we gonna kiss too, Judi?"

"I would kiss you if I wasn't so worried about her," Judi whispers but I hear it.

That breaks me out of the angry haze I'm in. I pull away from Liam, and tilt my head in the direction of the railing.

On cue, the lights settle on it. And like I suspected, Ezra is at the railing, watching. His face is a storm, jaw tight, eyes hard. His fists clench tightly around the glass in his hands.

"Fuck you," I mouth, lips curled into a taunting smirk.

His jaw only tightens further. Then he slams his drink back into his mouth and walks into the shadows.

"So, I guess you just used me to piss off that guy." Liam's voice startles me.

I jerk around in time to see the light being snuffed out of his eyes.

My lips part to speak, apologize, but one look at the disappointment in Judi's face wrecks me.

"Liam..." I begin, throat tightening.

He nods toward the railing. "Boyfriend?"

"God, no." I take a step forward. "I'm sorry, Liam. I d-don't know what I was thinking."

His smile doesn't reach his eyes. "At least I got to kiss you."

That just makes me feel worse.

My heart sinks to the pit of my stomach. Shutting my eyes briefly, I sigh.

"I have to go," I rasp. "I'll meet you back at the hotel. I'm sorry."

Hiking my purse on my shoulders, I make my way out of the building. My phone vibrates in my purse but I don't look at it.

The cold air nips at my skin, and I pause, breathing in deeply. The iciness settles in my lungs, and my eyes sting with unshed tears.

"Wren!" Judi calls, her heels clicking as she hurries up to me.

"Hey," she breathes beside me. "Are you okay? What happened up there...with Ezra."

A bitter, hollow laugh rips for my throat. "I really don't want to talk about it."

"Is something going on between both of you?"

"I told you earlier, there's nothing going on," I reply. "Go be with Mateo, I'll be fine."

She types on her phone. "Our Uber's almost here. I'm not leaving you by yourself."

"Are you sure?" I pout.

She smiles. "Of course, honey."

I interlock our fingers, giving her hands a small squeeze of appreciation.

"Thank you," I murmur.

Deep down, I really don't want to be alone tonight.

Judi replies by squeezing my hands too.

The wind picks up, and I'm reminded that I'm standing by the road...without panties.

People stare at me, and it feels like they just know I whored myself out. Like it's painted on my forehead that I let Ezra pocket my panties.

Heat floods my cheeks.

A sleek white car pulls up to the curb.

Judi taps her phone. "That's our Uber."

We slide into the vehicle, and just as the driver pulls out of the bar, Judi's phone rings.

It reminds me of my phone that's been vibrating nonstop, so I dig around my purse for it, keeping my legs crossed.

I'd hate to flash the driver that keeps leering at us through the rear mirror.

"Ezra?" Judi speaks into the phone, and I stiffen. I nearly snap my neck in half with how fast I turn.

She hums. "Yea, we're together at the moment...you want to know where we're heading?"

"No!" I mouth, shaking my head to and fro. "Don't tell him."

"I'm sorry but I can't say," She jams the speaker, and speaks again. "Yea, she's listening."

"Birdie." His voice comes in, threateningly cool. "You better tell me you're headed to the clubhouse, or god help me..."

I roll my eyes. "I'm not telling you anything, Ezra."

"Ray's worried, and he'll have my head because I'm supposed to protect you!"

"I really don't give a rat's ass. Plus, I don't need protection."

He rasps out a chuckle. "Birdie...tell me where you're headed."

"You and my brother will see me in two days."

The line goes silent for a bit.

"Do you need me to spank you again, Wren?"

Judi's eyes snap up to mine. "Again?"

Color tints my cheeks, the driver gives me a look from the rear mirror and I wish the ground can swallow me whole.

"Yes, Judi, again," he replies. "Your friend is quite the vixen. Scandalous, isn't it?"

"Goodbye, Ezra, I'm hanging up."

He chuckles again. "Ray and I will stop by the hotel tomorrow."

"You don't know where we're staying," Judi says.

"Hm. Don't I?" He hums. "Goodnight, Judi. And birdie?"

"What?"

"I have my eyes on your little blonde friend, maybe I should keep to my word."

My blood freezes, heart dropping. "Leave him alone, Ezra."

"Can't," he says. "He had his sleazy tongue down your throat."

Judi raises a brow at me, I can see the questions swirling in her eyes.

"You don't see me complaining, do you?"

"Oh it's not a problem for you...it's a problem for me. I didn't like that."

My jaw tightens. "I don't care what you like. You had your opportunity and you blew it."

"I did," he agrees. "The evidence is threatening to burn a hole through my pocket. But I've got to say...I do like a green, lace souvenir."

It clicks in Judi's head. Her jaw falls open, eyes dipping to my thighs then back to my face.

I quickly jam my finger on the red button.

"So that's what you were doing up there," she whisper-yells, brows nearly at her hairline.

My skin heats up. "Let's not..."

"We will, Wren. You're going to tell me all the juicy details tonight."

The driver pulls into the hotel lot, and we stumble out.

Judi smacks my bum. "You love a good spanking, and you have no underwear on. You naughty minx."

"Seriously?" I glare at her.

She giggles, heading up to our room. Reluctantly, I follow.

"By the way, I got Liam and Mateo's numbers," she hands me Liam's card. "Figured you'd want to properly apologize."

Taking the card, I plop down on the bed. "Yea... I should."

Maybe we could start all over, no Ezra and definitely no VIP rooms.
