"Don't tell me you're still in bed, you log of lazy ass wood!"

"Wow." My lips twists bitterly. "Hell to you too, Judi. You reek of jealousy."

Her head pushes further into the screen, a pout on her face. "You're right. I'm so jealous! I wish I could sleep in, but I have a job!"

"A job you love."

"Uh no. I hate it," she snorts. "I just love my boss. There's a difference."

I lift a brow. "Does the boss you love know you hate your job?"

"Oh yes. Yes, he does. It's the song I sing in his office every morning, after we have our office sex."

I grimace. "Gross, Judi."

"Oh shut up. I bet if you worked for Ezra, you'd also have hot office sex." She rolls her eyes so hard I fear for a second that they'd get stuck up there. "Where's your hot piece of boyfriend though? Ezra Jax?!" She screeches.

"Jesus, Judi! It's too early to be screaming. What? Did Andre pump you with caffeine so you could ride his dick enthusiastically?"

Her jaw drops, and her eyes widen exaggeratedly. "How did you know?" She leans in and whispers, "the man wants to kill me with his massive—"

"Okay, that's enough," I cut in hurriedly. "It's my fault, and I take total responsibility."

She bursts into laughter and I can't help but join in.

Ugh! I've missed the crazy, hyper active girl.

It's odd that Judi and I were never so close to begin with. She was just that one friend I had in Seattle out of necessity, because I decided to protect my heart from being hurt again by another Brittany.

Speaking of which..."Hey, Judi! I didn't tell you!"

"Tell me what?"

"Brittany. She called a few days ago."

"Oh?" Her brows pinch together. "What did she want?"

I shrug. "Unfortunately, I wasn't close to my phone so I got her voicemail instead. She said she thought about me and decided to reach out, she hoped I was good and asked to call her when I'm back."

"That's...sweet, right?"

"I don't know," I sigh. "There's no hard feelings for her anymore. I've forgiven her, but we just can't go back to being best friends."

"But you can be friends again?"

"I don't know. To be honest, I haven't thought about her at all, things have been crazy over here."

Judi clicks her tongue. "Things are always crazy over there. I still think you should come back to Seattle, at least Tristan is dead now. Or you could relocate to Minnesota, you liked it there, didn't you?"

A small, nostalgic smile spreads across my face. "It was perfect. Wish we didn't have to leave."

"Same! Andi still talks about it—"

"Are you guys official now?" I blurt. "It's been what? Months already?"

"Are you judging me?"

"You know I'd never do that. I'm just asking, curious."

She breathes out heavily. "It's...complicated. There's something I haven't told you about Andre."

My brows furrow. "What's that?"

"Promise you'll not judge me."

"Oh come on, Judi. I'm the last person that'll judge you."

"If it were you in my position, I'd definitely judge you...harmlessly, of course."

I narrow my eyes. "You're stalling."

"Andre is...married."

"What?" I sit up, my eyes nearly popping out of my head. "What do you mean married? What the fuck, Judi? You're sleeping with a married man?"

"You're judging."

"I'm no–I...it's not like that, but Jesus Christ, Judi! You're...you're the other woman?"

"It isn't like that. His wife, she's...she's having an affair. And Andre has asked for a divorce, he's served her the papers, but she doesn't want to sign them."

"Judi..."

"I know." Her voice goes quiet, and she blinks rapidly, redness quickly spreading across her nose. "I know how it looks, and I know that he's still married. But...I...I love him, Wren."

"God, no. Judi, come on." I pinch the bridge of nose. "At least wait until he's properly divorced."

"Honestly? I found out after we got back from Minnesota, and I tried Wren. I really fucking tried to stay away—" she chokes on her words, wiping harshly at the single tear that rolls down her cheek.

"Oh, honey..."

"That's my line."

"What are you going to do now? Is he even trying to get her to sign the papers?"

Judi nods. "He is. She knows about me," she chuckles dryly. "I found out about his marriage through her. But they have kids, and it's much more complicated."

"Kids?" My jaw drops.

"Yea. Twins, and they're so adorable. I..." she sighs. "I'm in too deep to leave him, Wren. Believe me, I tried. But Andi..."

Damn! With this emotional off load, I can't even tell her about my own dilemma, the pictures, the threats and the big event that will happen with Ray tomorrow.

"God, I wish I was there with you. Why didn't you tell me?"

"If you've noticed, I'm not the touchy-feely type. I'm always happy, I love being happy, not sad and teary or a mess. That's you."

We chuckle at that together. "You're right. I'm always the one with the issues. I'm so sorry honey, what can I do?"

"Just...come to Seattle soon. I miss you already."

"I miss you too" I tell her. "I will come visit soon. Be careful, Judi. And for what it's worth, I think you deserve someone that will put his foot down for you. Andre should make sure those papers get signed. Either that, or you'd have to walk away, hon."

"Yea. I know." She inhales.

"Let me get dressed okay? I'm heading to the club house, I'll call you and check on you later."

"Alright. Go meet your big, devilishly handsome boyfriend."

"Judi." I laugh and we wave goodbye through the screen before hanging up.

Finally, I get out of bed for the first time today. And when I glance at the time, I realise it's almost noon.

Donovan isn't here yet. Maybe Ezra forgot.

"If he isn't here by the time I'm done preparing," I mutter to myself, "–I'll order a ride. Besides, I'm not even comfortable with Donovan...alone."

With that, I get into the bathroom.

Just as I'm done with the last of my make up, the doorbell rings.

Most of my things have found their way into Ezra's room. My makeup, my clothes, my hair products...nearly all my essential needs.

It rings again, and I get up, inspecting the arranged room as I make my way down the stairs.

That should be Donovan. At least he's right on time.

Without looking through the peephole, I pop the door open.

"Thought you'd be here like an hour ag—" my words die off and I jerk back at the person on my doorstep.

"I know, I should've been here earlier."

That voice, that face, and that stupid smirk that looks sinister now.

My heart dips to my stomach, face white like I've seen a ghost because truly...there's a ghost in front me.

Everything in me screams to run, but I can't. My feet are planted to the spot, limbs too heavy to move.

The only thing I can do is press down on my phone and pray that by some miracle, I'm dialing Ezra through the emergency numbers.

He takes a step into the house, and slams the door shut.

All my nerve endings stand alert, blood rushing in my ears.

I swallow thickly.

"Tri-Tristan."

My phone blares at the moment and he notices it in my hands.

Before I can move, he leaps for it and snatches it violently from me.

He pockets it and grins, "Good to see you again, darling."
