Falling For The Biker: The Vice President's Girl Chapter 108

Ezra

I shrug on my armless jacket—careful not to jerk my injured arm—and hover over Wren's sleeping form.

"My pretty girl," I murmur, and plant soft kisses on her cheeks and face.

She mumbles something in her sleep, her nose scrunching up adorably before she rolls on her other side.

A smile spreads across my face. "Sweetheart?" I try again, this time, tapping her softly.

Finally, she rolls on her back and her eyes flutter open. Bright blue, sleepy eyes stare up at me, a pout on her lips.

"Hey." I push her hair away from her face, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Good morning, Birdie."

She smiles softly. "Hi." Her eyes rake down my body, and a frown replaces her smile. "Where are you going?"

"Remember the meeting we have at the clubhouse? The mole?"

"Oh!" Her eyes widen and she sits up. "I should come."

"Yea. Tried waking you up earlier, but you didn't budge."

She yawns loudly. "I feel so exhausted."

"Rest up then. I'll come home to meet you."

"No, no. I'll come to the clubhouse." She shakes her head. "But not now. I feel a little...weird."

"Weird?" I press the back of my hand to her forehead. "Are you ill? Feverish?"

"No, just tired. Overly exhausted and still sleepy."

Oh.

I breathe out a sigh of relief and snort, "I think I wore you out last night."

She blushes. "Maybe."

"Go back to bed then. I'll send Donovan to come pick you up when you're ready, okay?"

"Won't you need him there? At the clubhouse?"

"He already knows we're looking for a mole. I'm sure he's safe enough, but we'll still look into him when he drops you off, okay?"

"Okay." She plops back down on the bed, throwing the covers over her frame. "I'll call you when I'm ready."

"I'll be waiting for your call."

And then, I kiss her. She responds eagerly, softly.

"One day," I say, looking into her eyes. "I'm going to make you my wife."

Her smile dies out, and wide eyes peer up at me. "W-what?"

"After we tell Ray about us tomorrow, and after he accepts us...I'm going to marry you, Wren Carlisle. If...if that's what you want, of course."

I nearly punch myself in the mouth. We've not had any discussions about our future, our family, or even marriage.

We've just been trying to tell Ray first, about what this is. And hope for his approval.

But I'm ready for whatever he says. When we tell him tomorrow, he has to accept us. I'm going to beg him, I'm going to tell him that I plan to make it right with his little sister.

That I'm going to love her till I take my last breath.

"Marriage?" Wren sits up again, the sleeve of her—my—shirt rolls down one shoulder.

"Yes. If you want that someday."

She gapes. Her mouth opening and closing.

"I didn't think you...wow...you'd want to marry me?"

I frown. "Why do you sound so surprised? I've told you before that I'm a family man."

"I know," she snorts. "But it's you. I'm always going to be surprised."

"What do—you know what?" I lift my watch to my face, taking note of the time. "We will talk about this later. For now, I have to be at the clubhouse."

Her smile turns shy. "Okay. We will take a rain check on this conversation."

"Mhm." I kiss her again. "I love you Wren, and I want you to know that whatever happens tomorrow, I'll fight for you...for us."

It's true.

I'll burn the world for this woman.

I've never felt this way for any woman, but Wren...she's clawed her way so deep into my heart. And I don't want her to ever leave.

Soft, small palms cup my jaw. "Me too. I love you, Ezra. You make me happy."

"Well, you make me the happiest man in the world. You make my heart sing silly-as-shit songs about love and babies." I frown and she laughs. "But I love it. God, I love you so, so much."

She grins and leans to peck my jaw and scruff. "Go do your biker thing. I'll call you."

"Sleep good, baby. And if you can't make it to the clubhouse, it's fine too."

"Alright. Now, shoo."

I take a step toward the door, turn and go in for another kiss. She giggles but still melts into my arms, kissing me with equal vigor.

My heart warms, everything in me softens and lights up, like a kid on Christmas Day.

God, Ray...please let us be together.

When I wave goodbye, she blows a kiss to me and I catch it. I hold it in my palms, and place it to my heart.

The heart that beats only for her.

Fuck! I'm a man in love. And I'm so fucking ready to marry her, and have more kids with her.

I'm ready to do this for life.

That thought doesn't terrify me. Hell, it excites me.

I get into my car with a giddy smile on my face.

Nothing can dampen my mood, not even the empty threats from that anonymous texter—who I've been ignoring for days now.

"Turn in our phones? That's an invasion of privacy," someone mumbles.

The whole gang is gathered in the church. Three large baskets are placed on the desk with a sticky note on it that reads, "drop all phones in here".

Kendall, Clay and Rivers stand at a corner. They are our chief hackers and therefore, all phones will be looked into.

"Well sorry that it's an invasion of privacy, but our trust was broken by one or more of you." Ray glares. "Do you know how much danger our lives are in right now?"

"Whoever is responsible will pay heavily for this," I add. "And it'll not be easier if you turn yourself in. In fact, do not turn yourself in, I'd rather fish you out myself."

"Put all phones in the basket!!!" Ray bellows, fists clenched and everyone scrambles forward, dumping their gadgets into the baskets.

As they drop it, Lizzy and Torch search everyone to make sure it's all their phones, and they're not hiding any other.

"Now, sit!" Ray commands.

I stand beside him, arms crossed.

He looks around, scowling. "Where is Donovan?"

"I sent him to get Wren," I whisper in his ear.

He nods. "For the rest of you here, you all know that you're suspects, right?"

No one responds.

"I think he asked a fucking question! Respond to your president!" I scold.

"Yes." Their chorus rings out.

"Good!" Ray nods. "Everyone here knew about the threat on Wren's life. Everyone knew about the deal with the Smitties. Everyone was in on the decoy we were going to use, am I right, Mrs Dee and Kelsie?"

Mrs Dee nods.

"Yes," Kelsie replies.

"Just as we were about to convince their president to speak, she got a tip that it wasn't Wren in the vehicle. Now, before these phones get checked, spare us the trouble and signify if you're the mole."

I snort inaudibly. I'd rather go through the trouble, it'll make it worth it.

Not one finger lifts. Not even an eye contact.

Not like I expected it.

"Whatever happens next, is on you," Ray spits, then nods at Kendall, Clay and Rivers. "Take the baskets. Search everything. Every text, every photo, every transaction. Report anything that is out of the ordinary."

"Yes, boss."

They each pick up a basket and head out with Lizzy, and Torch following behind to keep an eye on things.

Donovan should be there, but he's out on an errand.

I frown.

It's been over an hour since he left to pick Wren up, and no call or text from either of them.

"The rest of you are—"

My phone vibrates rapidly in my pockets, and I tune Ray out to pick it up.

I swear if that's anonymous texter again...But it's not.

My heart sinks when I see what's on my phone.

It's Wren.

She's calling...from the emergency call.

All the blood drains down my body, and I lean to Ray. "I'll be right back."

I don't wait for a response before I'm running out of the clubhouse, taking two steps at a time.

I call back, but she doesn't respond.

And the emergency call stops.

God, no.

Please, please be okay.
