Falling For The Biker: The Vice President's Girl Chapter 153

Wren

I frown at my phone for the twentieth time in the past hour.

I've been calling Ezra since I woke up this morning, but he isn't picking up. Neither is he returning my calls.

I'm trying not to worry, but it's so unlike him.

It's 9:00 a.m.

My make up has been done, my hair done, wedding dress—which I finally found and loved—donned on.

Even my brides maids, little bride and Hannah are all set...though both kids are with Quincy and the other flower girls.

It's literally almost time to head to the venue which is a few minutes away, and from what Mrs Dee tells me, the guests have already started settling.

And yet, I haven't heard from Ezra...or Ray, all morning.

"We've got everything packed up," one of my stylist says, tapping on the small suitcase. "All the change of clothes, shoes, makeup, hair brush...all in here."

The door to my suite pushes open and Sasha walks in with Judi behind her.

"Have you heard from Ezra?" Sasha crosses her arms.

"What?"

"His stylist has been calling. Ezra's not in his room, neither is the best man nor the major grooms men."

I push to my feet, heart in my throat. "In other words, Ezra, Ajax, Ray, Mitch, Torch and the others are nowhere to be found?"

"Positive."

My wide eyes find Judi. "What the fuck?"

"I've been calling all morning," Judi explains. "We've asked the hotel, they have no idea where they went. But Ray's car isn't in the parking lot."

"Have you called Quincy? Does Quincy know?"

She shakes her head. "No, she has no idea. They slept in different hotel rooms."

"We didn't want to get you worried," Sasha says. "But we're also frankly starting to worry."

"What if they're already at the venue."

"Without their suits?

"Let's head to the venue," Judi suggests, biting her lower lip in worry. "Maybe someone there might have seen them?"

Even I know that's a stretch.

My heart thunders in my chest, I feel my ears ring, and my head spin.

Judi gathers me in her arms. "Breathe, Wren. Ezra wouldn't ditch you."

"That's not why I'm worried," I swallow thickly. "What if...what if something happened?"

She pulls away and gives me a long look. "You know what? Let's go to the venue first, see what information we can get. Who knows, they might even show up before us."

"Judi." My voice breaks.

"Hey," she warns. "No tears today, please. You look so gorgeous, such a beautiful bride. Let's breathe, and be optimistic. Ezra wouldn't miss his wedding."

I wish I could tell her that's it's not about the wedding. What if he's hurt?

"They had the bachelor party last night, right?"

"And they all went to bed immediately after."

"Are you sure nothing happened? Nothing fishy?"

Judi shrugs. "I don't know, Wren. But come on, everyone's already heading to the venue."

For a moment, I think of Donovan. Ezra had assured me it was settled, so what now? Did it suddenly get unsettled again?

I wrap a protective hand over my belly. Judi's gaze dips to it, and she smiles. "Your baby's daddy is fine, okay honey? Come on."

I'd told the girls about the pregnancy especially when they tried to feed me alcohol. My ears still hurt from how loudly they screamed in it.

It was a beautiful bridal shower, although everyone retired really early especially Lizzy and Beth.

If I knew Ezra and his groom's men would be missing this morning, I'd have slept in his suite.

Judi tugs my hand and nods to my stylists. "Please, put the luggage in the white limo down stairs."

As Judi and Sasha lead me out of the suite, I dial Ezra's number again.

And again.

And again.

Still, no answer.

I get compliments when we reach the hotel lobby, but I'm too busy fussing over the situation to even acknowledge them properly.

Worry pools in the pit of my belly. I clutch onto my phone like a lifeline, and I don't even see where I'm going, only relying on the direction Judi pulls me.

Finally, we reach the parking lot and I expect to see Ezra. But I don't.

Everyone else is here though.

Lizzy, Quincy, the kids, the bikers...everyone. Including Andrea and Beth.

"We were supposed to ride together in the limo," I tell Judi.

"Well, it's a good thing he isn't here then. It's bad luck to see the bride before the wedding. Wait—" she pauses and swivels to me, her glare accusing. "Did you meet him last night? If you did, then his disappearance is the bad luck."

"I didn't!" I hiss. "You literally slept in my room with me!"

"Maybe you snuck out."

"You know I didn't, Judi."

She blinks and straightens. "I'm sorry, Wren. I'm trying to keep it together, but Jesus...this is a major setback in our plans. We do not have a plan B for this."

"I think I'll have to create plan B's and C's for disappearing grooms and brides in the next wedding I plan," Sasha chimes.

Judi rolls her eyes. "I think you—"

Quincy rushes up to us, MaryAnne and the little groom—one of the biker's son—holding onto her hands.

"I just go off the phone with Ray," she announces.

My throat tightens. "What did he say? Where are they?"

"They're on their way."

Relief.

God, the relief is instantaneous and it brings tears to my eyes.

"Okay." I swallow. "But where did they go?"

She gives me a look and sighs. "Donovan."

I press my lips together, and give a curt nod. "Thanks Quin."

With that, I open the limo door and get in. My little bride, Hannah and the other flower girls join me. Judi, my chief bridesmaid, also slides in.

Before the door closes, I see Andrea and Beth waving at me with large smiles on their faces.

It manages to wane my anger, only a little bit. I wave back with a smile of my own, though it doesn't quite reach my eyes.

The chauffeur shuts the door, and when the limo hums to life, I punch down on Ray's number—after a couple seconds of squinting.

"Wren," Ezra's voice comes in. "Baby, I'm sorry."

"I am so upset with you, Ezra. So fucking upset."

"I know baby, I..."

"You better have a good explanation when I see you. You have barely an hour to be at the venue."

And I hang up.

He's okay, he's fine...he's coming for the wedding. He didn't sound hurt, and from his voice, no one is hurt either.

Though I'm still very much upset, I'm more relieved.

Judi looks over with a glass of champagne. "Looks like the wedding will not be a disaster after all."

"Aunt Wen," MaryAnne mispronounces. Her chubby hands touch her hair. "Hair pwetty," she says.

"Yes sweetheart, your hair is pretty."

"How about mine, mom?" Hannah asks.

"And mine, Miss Wren?" Another flower girl asks.

All of a sudden, I'm complimenting everyone's hair and dress.

For a minute, everything feels much better...lighter.

"...that's what they said almost an hour ago!" Sasha exclaims when Judi repeats for the fifth time that the guys said they're almost here.

Her cheeks are flushed, eyes hard. If I stare long enough, I'd probably see smoke coming out from her ears.

She spins abruptly on me. "Where the fuck is your groom and his groom's men?"

"Beats me." I shrug, then lift my gaze to Andrea and Beth. "How are the guests holding up?"

I'd long since given up on the guys' arrival. I've been upset, angry...hell, I even cried—which upset my make-up artists—and now, I'm so tired.

Quincy grimaces. "There's some murmurs...they're getting cranky."

"Of course, they are!" Sasha cries. "We've been holding them off for nearly an hour with different music! It's getting old! Jesus Christ, this wedding was supposed to start by 10 a.m, it's 10:47 a.m!"

Everyone has their phones to their ears as I and the kids sit in the bridal tent, they're busy watching Hannah's tablet when Lizzy waddles towards us in her beautiful bridesmaid dress.

"They're here!" She announces. "Let's all take our positions...get the MCee, Judi."

I inhale deeply, hold my breath for a solid two seconds and then I exhale. "Beth, can you get Ezra to me? I need to see him before I walk."

Sasha blinks. "Absolutely not! We're already behind time."

"I am cranky–" my jaw ticks. "I have not seen my husband-to-be all morning. I need to see him, Sasha. It'll only be a couple of minutes."

Lizzy frowns. "There's something you should know about their delay."

"God, don't tell me someone got hurt."

"No, but Ezra..."

My heart stops for a bit and I stumble forward slightly. "Wh-what happened to him? Is he okay?"

"Yes, yes. It's just that he...well, Torch said he had an episode... with his leg. It's what kept them a little longer."

I swallow thickly and turn to Sasha. "Please," I beg. "Let me see him."

"I don't get paid nearly enough for this." She huffs and walks away.

"Go get your man, Wren." Judi smiles softly. "I'll keep the guests entertained."

Then she turns to Quincy, and Lizzy, and says;

"Hope your men can dance? Because their punishment for this delay is to dance until the guests forget they were being delayed."
