Falling For The Biker: The Vice President's Girl Chapter 51

Wren

Quincy holds up two similar onesies in different colours. "What do you think?"

"Hm." I squint. "Definitely purple."

"You don't like pink?" She pouts, brows raised.

"I do—you know what? Let's get both."

Her head bobs on an excited nod, and she stuffs both in the cart.

When Quincy called and asked if I'd like to escort her to do some shopping for the baby, I couldn't say no.

Being cooped up at home, occasionally surrounded by Ezra is bad for my mental health.

It's been three weeks of hot sex, fighting practice, deep conversations, and so much fluff and sweetness...my heart is already halfway into the dreaded 'L' zone.

Quincy and I head down more aisles, and I notice all the pink she's getting.

"Are you having a girl?" I ask.

She shrugs. "I have no idea, but I have a feeling."

A laugh bubbles out of me. "You're getting so much pinks and purples and you don't know yet?"

"Hey!" She scolds playfully. "Ray and I would know by next month, but...I want a baby shower."

"You both want to be surprised?" I raise a brow and she nods.

"Yes, so maybe you'll come with us? And the doctor can tell you the gender, and you'd plan it all? I mean, if that's okay with you."

"Of course!"

What better way to get keep myself busy?

"Really? Thank you, Wrennie." She gushes, seeming much lighter.

The remaining shopping goes smoothly, we get less clothes and more of accessories.

When Quincy sighs for the fifth time in less than two minutes, I can tell she's exhausted.

"I think we've done enough shopping today," I tell her.

"I agree," she responds. "I'm a little hungry though."

"I could get us something from the diner across the road."

"Can we sit for a bit?"

We find a place to sit, and Quincy lets out a long sigh.

I chuckle. "Why don't you wait here, and I'll get us the food. What would you like?"

"Wings," she blurts. "I'm in the mood for chicken wings."

"I hope they have that. I'll call you, alright?"

She gives me a soft smile. "Thank you."

The wait at the diner is horribly long. I've been here for almost thirty minutes but no sign of my order.

It's so crowded, and finding a place to sit was a hassle, until I did find a small corner.

I'm starting to regret why I chose to come here. I should've opted for a drive-thru.

My phone vibrates with a video message from Judi.

When I play it, I snort immediately. She's on glasses, glaring at me while slurping loudly on a drink.

And then she speaks.

I have to hold the phone up to my ear to hear properly because of the loud ruckus in the diner.

"You've kept me starved, Wren. Or should I say...Birdie." She cackles like a crazy person.

My lips twitch and I have to bite down on it to hide my laughter.

When her laughter dies down, she continues. "You told me you guys finally gave in, and I've been waiting for all the details. Why are you gate keeping? I will fly down to New Orleans just for this information!"

I snort at that.

"Wren..." she drawls. "You have until the end of the day to call me, and give me the goddamn tea, you naughty minx!"

Heat flares up my cheeks, and I pinch my eyes shut in embarrassment as I recall the story behind that name.

God, this woman.

Her tone turns lighter. "Call me. Byeee—Miss Valentine? What are you doing? This is work prem—"

I pull the phone to my face, and it's then I realize Judi made this video while at work. The glasses should've been the first clue.

Her face turns sheepish, and she waves at the camera before the screen goes out.

My shoulders rack on fits of laughter as I shake my head at my phone.

"Hey, little lady."

The laughter dies in my throat immediately, and my spine stiffens. The familiar bulky man rounds the table, and grins.

"Remember me?" He crosses his arms, the muscles bunch up, and my breath stutters.

Oh god.

"Y-yes." I nod, paling at the memory of that knife being dragged across my skin.

A nasty smile stretches across his face, while my mind goes through all the fighting lessons Ezra and I have had.

But can I really take him on if I need to? He's heavier than Ezra.

When he leans closer, I stretch so far away, terrified that I'll topple over. I look around the diner for help, but all I see are more bikers, and few patrons who don't give a damn.

"You tell EJ and that filthy brother of yours, that it's only a matter of time that you and that pregnant missy of his are dead."

I blink.

Quincy? He's talking about Quincy? Threatening to kill a pregnant woman?

My chest burns as anger rises, fists clenched at my side.

I push to my fight, eyes hard. "What did you just say?"

"Ah." His eyes light up, and he straightens to his full height. "I said it's only a matter of time that I'll come for Ray's missy, and you, EJ's plaything—"

A chill shoots through my veins.

EJ's plaything.

All the anger leaves me, and fear takes over. He knows. This bald man somehow knows about EJ and I.

This is not good. Jesus, this is not good at all.

If he knows, who else knows?

And how the fuck do they know?

Ezra's gonna throw a fit.

"Stay away from us," I spit without thinking.

"Can't. Your brother and his minion are two people I want to crush so bad in whatever way I can."

"Get out!" I hiss through gritted teeth. "Or I'll scream!"

He snarls, curling a hand around my arm. "Say that again, and all I have to do is break your bones."

His grip gets tighter, a subtle promise to his words.

But I shove aside my fear, and glare. "To hell with you and your—"

"What is going on here?"

We're interrupted by a man. Blonde hair, blue eyes, and a motorcycle kutte with the name 'Outlaws MC'.

From his tag, he's the president.

Well, fuck my life.

Two bikers, and one girl who just wants to get her food.

"Let her go, Calvin."

Calvin's jaw ticks, and he drops my arm. My pulse thumps frantically, sweat rolling down my back.

"You can leave." The blonde man nods to Calvin.

Calvin glares. "It's your lucky day today...Wren."

Bile pushes up my throat but I force it down. He knows my name. Of course, he does. God, what have I gotten into?

"Wren..." the blonde man hums, pulling out my seat, and I sit. "I'm Mitch, president of Outlaws MC."

"Urm, n-nice to to meet you?" I gulp.

He chuckles, eyes glinting with something I can't place my finger on. "It's really lovely to meet you too. Don't worry, Calvin's not gonna hurt you again."

I don't respond. I'm yet to calm my racing heart.

Instead, I look toward the counter, waiting for my name to be called so I can get out of here. It's closer to forty-five minutes, and I'm upset.

"Did you order?" Mitch's voice drags my out of my thoughts.

I sigh. "It's been almost an hour."

"What's the name for the order? I'll get it."

"Really?"

He nods once. "Yes. I know the owner."

All of a sudden, he looks like an angel in my eyes. I rattle off the name and what I ordered, and he leaves to the counter while I stare after him.

My phone rings again, and I pick up without looking.

"Wrennie!" Quincy's voice comes in. "Are you okay? What's taking so long?"

"I'm about to get it, you'll see me in less than five minutes."

"Okay. Ray says Ezra's on his way to pick us up."

"Oh," I squeak. "Okay."

She chuckles at the end of the line. "You're so obvious, Wren."

And the line goes dead.

Just as soon as I pocket my phone, Mitch shows up with my order.

"Thank you." I take it from him. "I already paid."

"It's fine. Go on."

I breathe, and for the first time, I smile at him, appreciative.

But before my feet leaves the door, I hear his voice.

"Wren!"

I turn.

"You owe me," he days with that glint in his eyes.

My heart sinks. "What?"

"For saving you back there."

With that, he turns away from me, and I'm left feeling worse than before.

I should've known. These bikers never do anything for free. And now, I can only hope he forgets.

But I also know that's wishful thinking.

Oh god, Wren...what have you gotten into?
