Falling For The Biker: The Vice President's Girl Chapter 24
Wren
"Oh my god, shush," I whisper-yell, laughing as I hug my little bag to my chest, running towards the silhouette of the car.
Adrenaline surges through my body, my heart racing.
Judi giggles with a hand over her mouth. "We look like thieves."
I giggle some more, slipping into the Uber out front, and Judi gets in with me.
The laughter tumbles out of our lips loudly as the driver pulls out of the club house.
"If Ray finds out, I'm dead." Even as I say that, I can't help the thrill that lines my veins.
Judi nods. "Yes, you are. Although I'm more worried about your sexy bodyguard."
"Who? Ezra?" I scoff.
"He's yummy, Wren. Can I hook up with him?"
My lips part, then close...then part again and close.
How do I respond to that?
Do I want her to hook up with him?
If I say yes, Ezra would definitely hop on board when she throws herself at him. Why do I care though?
I shrug. "Do whatever you want. Why are you asking me?"
"That's true," she laughs, "—why am I asking you? I hope there's nothing going on between you both though."
"Ew, no. I told you we hate each other."
Liar liar, pants on fire. Heck, I've had a massive crush on Ezra since I was a teen until everything happened.
She squints at me. "I want to believe you but...hm, okay then. If there won't be any problem, I guess I'll try my luck."
"Do that."
An awkward silence follows—well, it's only awkward for me.
"So..."Judi drawls, "where would we go from the hotel?"
"Ezra's bar."
Her brow raises. "He owns a bar? Aren't you worried about getting caught?"
"He rarely visits," I reply. "It's a pretty space. You'll love it."
The driver pulls into the hotel parking lot.
Judi and I step into the bar with smiles on our faces.
We had stopped at the hotel to change into our outfits for the night and put on some make up.
"It's been so long I had a girls night out," I yell to Judi over the loud music.
"Me too," she replies with a smile. "Let's head over to the bar."
Arms hooked, we make our way to the bar.
It's a lot more crowded than the last time I came. Patrons sit in darkened booths, alcohol mixed with expensive perfumes waft through my nostrils.
I take in the dim coloured lights that strum the walls, bouncing off faces.
"This is so beautiful," Judie gushes, sliding onto one of the stools, and looking around the bar. "He's sexy and has taste!"
I roll my eyes with a huff. "Can we not talk about Ezra again for the night?"
"Okay." She laughs, nudging me playfully when the very familiar bartender approaches us.
"Arwin!" My smile is wide, hands flailing in a wave.
"Wren, darling." He winks, a small smile on his lips. "You look even more beautiful than the last time. What are you doing here...without Ezra?"
"Oh please, Ezra can go bother someone else," I reply. "Also, I'm sorry about what happened the last time. It was uncouth."
Arwin shakes his head. "It's not worries at all."
Judi clears her throat exaggeratedly, and I chuckle.
"Judi, this is Arwin," I introduce, hooking an arm over her shoulder. "Arwin, this is Judi. She's visiting New Orleans for a couple of days."
"Then you're in the right bar." Arwin smiles. "Welcome to New Orleans, Judi. Your first drink is on the house."
Arwin pours both of us a drink, and we thank him, clinking our glasses in cheers.
Judi fills me in on Seattle, and we talk about Tristan while I bite my tongue to avoid spilling that Ezra was the one beat Tristan to near-death.
"Hey ladies." Arwin places a bottle of wine on our table. "From that table over there." He points behind us, and we turn.
Two men in expensive suits sit at a booth, their eyes fixed on us from across the room. It's hard to make out their features from this distance.
"Okayyyy," Judi drawls, and we turn back to the bar. She takes the bottle. "Extend our thanks."
Arwin raises a brow but leaves anyway.
"I guess we're going to get laid tonight," Judi teases.
I grimace, my nose scrunched up. "Because of a bottle of wine?"
She throws her head back on a laughter. "Way to make me look cheap. But it's been a while, Wren. That's why I came here."
"To get laid?"
"More or less." Judi shrugs. "I need a one night stand in an entirely different place. It just makes sense and avoids attachment."
I snort. "You know what? You're right. It's been a while for me too."
She goes to nod in agreement when the men in suit approach us. One stands beside me, and other beside Judi.
"Hey, I'm Liam," the one beside me speaks.
In clearer light, I'm able to make out his features. Blonde hair slicked back, brown eyes and lips too pink they're almost feminine.
He's attractive, with soft features.
I notice he doesn't have any visible tattoos or a tongue piercing. Plus, he's blonde.
Would it be wrong to use him to get a certain dark-haired man out of my system?
"Hi Liam," I reply with a smile. "I'm Wren, and this is my friend Judi."
He waves over politely, and the man beside Judi waves at me.
"I'm Mateo," he says, taking my hand in his.
"Hope you both don't mind a little company?" Liam asks. And when I shake my head, they pull up stools closer to us.
It isn't even up to ten minutes when Arwin rushes over to me, eyes wide and cheeks flushed.
"Wren." He leans in over the counter. "Ezra...he's here."
My stomach dips, throat drying up. "Where?"
Arwin nods upwards, toward the railing. "He's up at the VIP section, and he's asking for you."
I follow his line of vision, and sure enough, I make out the silhouette of Ezra. He leans on the railing, staring right at me.
Goosebumps prickle my skin, and I straighten, steeling my spine.
"I'm not coming," I tell Arwin.
"What?" His eyes nearly bulge out of their sockets.
Liam's hand slides up on my waist. "Is everything okay?"
"Yes." I smile, leaning into him. "Everything is perfect."
My eyes lock with Arwin's again, and I speak.
"Tell Ezra that I'm not coming, Arwin," I repeat. "I have company."
He gulps.
