Falling For The Biker: The Vice President's Girl Chapter 68

Wren

It's been two days since that incident and I'm yet to have Ezra to myself. Everyone has been staying at the house, fussing over him.

While I sit here, waiting my turn.

"This house is stunning though," Brittany murmurs to me, sliding her hand across the kitchen island.

I don't reply, instead I take a spoon of the food Lizzy and Torch cooked.

Not everyone sleeps over, just Ray, Quincy, Torch and Lizzy. So even at night, I can't even be with him.

And as the hours tick, it pisses me of some more.

I glance at Ezra in the dining, surrounded by the men. He looks better, not good...but better.

His face is full of bandaids, knuckles wrapped up and thankfully, he can walk. Although, he's been limping but it's not so bad.

As if he can feel my gaze, he looks up at me. My heart does that gallop it usually does around him, and it's hard to look away.

"I know there's something going on between you two," Brittany says.

I whirl around. "Excuse me?"

"Anyone with eyes can see the way you're looking at each other. It's...beautiful."

"I suggest you keep those assumptions to yourself," I snap.

She doesn't bite back, she just gives a soft smile. "I won't tell anyone."

"Nothing is going on."

"Sure." It's sarcastic, but not taunting. More resigned.

Then she sighs. "I'm sorry, Wren."

I stiffen, fisting my spoon, sure I misheard.

But she continues.

"I haven't been the best person, and I hurt you. It wasn't intentional..."

A brow lifts. "Sleeping with the man I gushed to you about and joining him to laugh in my face was not intentional? You knew what you were doing, Brittany."

That night Ezra kissed Brittany, it didn't stop there. After he had said he'd never touch me with a ten foot pole, Brittany had laughed like it was the funniest thing in the world.

Then, she talked about me. Said I'm only relevant because Ray's my brother, alongside other back handed comments.

After which they slept together, like the mockery aimed at me was foreplay, and it turned them on.

"I liked him too," she says.

"I knew that. But I didn't insult you, I didn't go behind your back and call you names." I hiss. "You were my best friend, and I loved you."

Her head bows.

"I loved you t—"

The look I shoot her interrupts her words.

She didn't love me. She used me to get close to Ray, and when Ray didn't give her a second glance...she went for Ezra.

"Do you know what pisses me off more? The fight we had before I left for Seattle. I came to you as a friend, and you lied to me when I asked if you slept with him. Then, you turned it into this big fight."

"I knew you'd be pissed."

"Of course I would've. But I would've forgiven you, it used to ho's before bro's with us, Brit."

Her face crumples, eyes tearing up. I don't know what has been happening with her since I left the clubhouse.

Though I noticed she'd been more quiet, reserved.

"For what it's worth," she sniffles, "I'm sorry. I'm really sorry, Wren. For what I said, for what I did. I don't deserve your forgiveness—"

"That's right."

She gives me a watery smile, and it tugs at my heart. Ugh!

"I just wanted to apologize, and let you know that I'll be—I'll be leaving the MC."

That stops me and I hate myself for being curious.

"Why?"

She shrugs. "There's nothing for me here. Got accepted into a university, I'll try something for myself."

Oh.

My throat tightens.

Brittany and I...we had good years. She used to be the sweetest, and the funniest person I met. At one point in my life, she was like my sister.

That's what we called ourselves—sisters.

I sigh deeply. "I...I wish you luck, Brit. You'll do fine."

"Let's hope so. Prez is yet to approve my leaving, but by next week, he should. This might be the last time we see ourselves."

Tears burn the back of my eyes, chest tightening. I swallow thickly.

"Y-yea. Be...be safe...out there."

I don't know who does it first, but we're hugging. Her tears fall on my neck, and I hold back mine even though a traitorous one rolls down anyway.

"I love you, Wren. I'm so sorry."

Patting her gently, I reply. "I'm sorry too."

For some reason, I can't bring myself to tell her I love her. Because even though I forgive her, I can't forget.

No matter what happens, I'd never treat someone I love the way she treated me. And she knows that.

So, when she pulls away, she waves her goodbye to everyone. And somehow, I feel lighter. Like a weight has been lifted from my chest.

It's been hours and everyone is still here. Ezra has walked into this kitchen more times than I can count, and everytime he passes, he touches me.

Either my hands, my thighs, my neck. Our eyes have found each other time and time again.

Like now.

He's talking to Ray and Torch, but he keeps looking over at me.

God, I need him to myself. And he knows that, he sees how annoyed I'm getting, cranky.

Suddenly, he shoots to his feet. Everywhere goes silent.

"First of all," he begins. "I appreciate you all looking out for me, and taking care of me. But please," he claps his hands together. "Please I need some breathing room."

I perk up, and he cuts his gaze me. Briefly.

Ray stands too. "Alright guys, everyone should leave. He needs to rest."

"Including you, Ray."

My brother pauses, brows pinched low. "Me?"

Ezra chuckles. "Come on man, I appreciate you. But, come on."

Thankfully, Ray doesn't take it too personal. He huffs a laugh, shaking his head.

"Let me go get my sleepy girlfriend, then."

As he jogs upstairs, the others begin to shuffle out.

Lizzy gives me a pinch as she passes. "I know what you both are up to, and I love it."

I don't get the chance to respond because she goes out of the door. My cheeks heat still, a deep flush coating my skin.

When Ray comes down with a heavily pregnant Quincy, I almost feel bad for disturbing her. She's got four more months left, and she never stops singing it.

"Bye, Chirp!" Ray waves, and I wave back.

Ray escorts them out, and I quickly pack up the remaining trash, hurrying into the living room and waiting by the door.

At the sound of the engine pulling out of the driveway, my heart pounds in my throat.

His footsteps are slow but sharp, and then he walks in, eyes pinned on me as he shuts the door.

"Hey, darling," he breathes.

And I jump in his arms, pressing my lips to his.

God, I've missed this.
