Falling For The Biker: The Vice President's Girl Chapter 32

Wren

"I wish you didn't have to go." I pout, helping Judi pack up her suitcase.

She glances at me from the vanity. "I know, honey. But Ray is right, it's risky. Plus, I need to go back to work."

"Yea, I know he's right." I huff. "At least we got to explore New Orleans for a bit. Can't believe you got so many clothes, Judi."

"Oh hush." She glares playfully, dabbing some powder on her face.

I put the last of her things in, and zip up the suitcase when there's a knock on my door.

"Come in!" I yell out.

Lizzy walks in with some snacks. "Hey ladies, looking good."

She plops down on the bed, and I grab a cookie from the plate. Judi turns to her with a small wave and smiles before going back to her makeup.

"Heard you're moving out of the clubhouse," Lizzy says.

A deep sigh leaves my lips. "Yup!" I pop the 'p'.

"With VP?"

"Unfortunately."

She snorts. "You would kill each other. What was Prez thinking?"

"Ezra won't kill me, he's too scared of Ray to do that," I tell her. "But you know who's not scared of Ray?"

"You." She laughs.

I nod. "Exactly. Prepare a body bag the size of Ezra for me."

We all burst into fits of laughter, giggles ringing out in the room.

"Should we add a body bag for Brittany?" Judi asks.

Lizzy raises a brow. "Brit? Why?"

"Nothi—"

"Because Ezra and Wren have a thing goi—oops." She slaps a hand over her mouth.

"Seriously?" I raise an annoyed brow.

Lizzy presses her lips together, eyes swimming with humour. "I see why you have to leave, Judi. No offense, but that's not the kind of mouth we tolerate in this MC."

"I'm sorry." Judi pouts. "I thought she's our friend. You said she's the only female friend you have in the clubhouse."

"Judi! Jesus Christ." I pinch the bridge of nose. "Stop talking, please."

She makes a show of locking her lips and throwing the keys away. I shake my head with a sigh.

Lizzy nudges me. "I'm honored that you consider me a friend. You're my friend too, and I'll miss you when you move in with VP."

"I'll miss you too, Liz. And I'll be coming around."

"I hope you do."

"And concerning you and VP..." Lizzy drawls.

My cheeks heat, and I face-palm. "God no, there's nothing going on."

"I know about your little crush," she says, hands raised in surrender. "And I know what happened with you and Brit."

"Can we not talk about it?"

She gives a small smile and pats my hand. "Sure, we don't have to. But, be careful, Wren. Your brother will not tolerate it."

"Nothing's going on," I affirm, even though my heart is pounding, threatening to burst from my chest.

Judi glances at me from the mirror, then goes back to applying her lipgloss.

"Okay, then." Lizzy smiles, and I return it, although it doesn't reach my eyes.

"Judi, Wren." Torch calls, knocking on the door. "EJ needs you both down...now."

Lizzy walks over and opens it up. "Come help with their suitcases."

"Wrennn," Torch wails dramatically when he spots me. "You're leaving me."

"Never. I'll visit so often, it'll be like I never left," I assure him, and he smiles.

"Damn," he whistles. "It'll be different around here, for sure. Oh well, let's head down, shall we?"

Torch and Lizzy help with the suitcases while Judi and I grab our little bags and follow them out.

Ray stands at the end of the stairs. "Chirp!"

"Hi," I greet, walking to him.

After the 'discussion' yesterday and a lot of arguments, Ezra agreed to let me move in.

Although, I'm still reluctant about it.

Realistically, it is the best decision but...it's Ezra we're talking about here.

"Still upset?" Ray quirks his lips.

I shrug.

"I'll come around and you can always visit Quincy too. She misses you," he tries to placate me, but it fails.

"The only reason I'm agreeing to this is because I understand the risks," I tell him.

But deep down in the darkest part of me, a part I don't want to acknowledge...I'm a ball of nervous energy.

He nods. "And I appreciate it. We just need everything to settle for a while, okay? Trust me, I don't like you staying with him. Even though I know nothing would ever happen, he's still a man."

"Right."

As I say that, guilt gnaws at me because things are already happening between Ezra and I. And I feel like such a fraud.

Maybe I should stop this push and pull before it gets out of hand.

We walk outside to find Ezra leaning on his car, dark shades settle atop his head. The afternoon sun kisses his skin, making his tattoos pop, his shirt and kutte hugging his muscles.

He looks like he just walked out of a magazine...and he knows it.

"Birdie." He winks when he sees me, pulling the glasses over his eyes.

And I know why.

Squinting, I see his eyes drag down my body, settling at my exposed thighs that peek from my short denim skirt, then back up to my face.

He rolls his lips between his teeth, and shoves a fist in his pocket.

"Ray." He nods to my brother, pushing off the car.

They do their bro-hug, and communicate in low whispers. Torch and Lizzy put our things in the trunk.

"I saw that," Judi whispers, pinching me.

I swat her hand, lips pressed together. "Don't know what you're talking about."

"Uh huh." She wiggles her brows, then moves towards the car. "Still can't get over how stunning this car is."

After a few minutes, Ezra makes his way to the car, and we get in the back seat.

"Come up front, Birdie," Ezra says sliding into the car.

I force a tight smile. "No, thanks."

He smirks.

Yes, I'm still bitter that he kissed Brittany.

Ray, Torch and Lizzy wave goodbye to us as Ezra pulls out of the driveway, flanked by a dozen bikers.

Judi stares at them through the window. "If this isn't special treatment, I don't know what is."

The ride to the airport was quick, and quiet. I stand in the lobby, waving goodbye to Judi.

"Let me know when it's safe to come back, okay, honey?" She yells, drawing the attention of passersby.

I face palm. "Judi!"

She slaps a hand over her mouth, a sheepish expression on her face. "Oops," she mouths.

"She'd have definitely put us in trouble," Ezra mutters beside me.

I keep waving to Judi until she's out of my line vision, and then I sigh. It was lovely to have some company.

"Alright, Birdie. Let's take you home." With a hand on my lower back, he guides me out of the airport and towards his car, opening the passenger seat for me.

I frown, getting in either way. I notice the bikers have left, and it's quite relieving.

Ezra turns on the ignition, and pulls out of the airport. "You've been awfully quiet."

"There's nothing to say." I shrug.

"You're mad that I kissed Brittany."

A scoff passes my lips. "I'm not. It's not like we're dating or anything."

"You're right." He nods. "We're not."

My cheat tightens.

That agreement shouldn't hurt me but... it does.

"Right."
