The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 103

Freya’s POV

Our army is gathered, and we have been marching towards the battle grounds for an hour now. I’ve lived in Louisiana my entire life and still I tend to forget how treacherous the terrain can be in certain places. At night there are sounds that make your spine tingle coming from unknown creatures, but tonight it is eerily quiet. When I woke up this morning, I was anxious and nervous about what we would have to do tonight. Never in a million years would I have thought that there would be a war that I’d have to fight or that my mate and I would be on opposite sides. I’m not strong enough to fight him, but I am strong enough to slow him down. The mate bond between us is what I will be relying on to give me some leverage. Just the thought of hurting him sends sharp pains to my heart, and I am hoping that it does the same for him.

After Tabitha stopped coming to help her daughter, Shayla became depressed and that caused her powers to go haywire for a while. The control that she was gaining was almost no longer existent. It was becoming a task putting out fires, replanting trees, stopping windstorms, and she even made it rain once. The witches confined her in a magic room that they spelled to absorb the magic when it was unleashed. She was becoming quite powerful with the help of the grimoire her mother left for her. For her sake and the rest of us, we left her watching over the ones that couldn’t or didn’t want to fight back in the pack shelter. She has enough control to set wards and defend herself and them if anyone slips through. I promised Tabitha that I would keep her out of this fight and that is exactly what I’m going to do.

The plan is simple, yet not so simple. We are going to walk to the battlefield and spread out far enough away to not be detected but close enough to get there fast after shifting. Of course, David and I as well as my brother and a few others will be front and center in the field. This is a risky move considering how powerful Alex is and not to mention Tabitha, but we can’t risk losing people ahead of time. Once we’re in position, the Coven of Light witches will take their positions and begin the spell that should hopefully hold Alex long enough for us to strip his dark magic, but that relies on me being able to reach him and get him to say that he wants it removed. No pressure.

Thirty minutes before we reach the battlefield, our army spreads out getting into position. We are hoping that we won’t have to fight but they will be ready just in case. Once they are in position, half of them shift into their wolves or Lycans while the other half stays in human form. David, my brother, Zach, and myself, all walk onto the field waiting to see Alex and his army, but we only see him and Tabitha. Alex is standing there looking smug while Tabitha looks pissed though he doesn’t seem to notice. The anger radiating from her is immense, so there is no way that he doesn’t know if I’m picking up on her emotions. I’m guessing he knows but doesn’t care. I wonder what has her so angry, but instead of letting my mind wander to that, I decided to keep my head in the game. Tabitha’s issues are not what’s important right now.

Nobody says anything as we all stand there looking at each other. Alex looks me up and down before smirking and moving on to the others. I’m looking beyond him in the trees to see if I can get a sense of where his army is hiding. I know that he brought more than just Tabitha with him because we know he had been recruiting people to his cause since the night he turned evil. There’s a surge of energy that I felt in the air and quickly I looked towards Alex. My eyes lock on his and his smile widens. The power that I am sensing now is from the Goddess but there’s a touch of the dark magic in it as well. “Okay Freya, it is show time. Keep your head in the game and your attention on him.” I say to myself.

“Freya, how good of you to come. Are you ready for your people to die? You really shouldn’t have brought your family here to die.”

“Who says they are going to die? You act as if I had a choice in whether I came or not today.”

“My dear mate you always have a choice. You could have chosen to send others and stayed away. You could have chosen to be on my side? You had and still do have the choice to walk away, but you choose to stay here. And yes, your family will die if they stay here. I will spare no one that has showed up today.”

“Why are you really doing this? We could all walk away alive and well if you’d just let Alex come back.” His nostril flare as he looks at me.

“Everything is about your beloved Alex isn’t it Freya? I’ve asked you before if you really know him and what he is capable of but the more I think about it, the more it dawns on me that none of you know. I shall take great pleasure in enlightening you all before you die.”

“What are you talking about?” says Alex’s father. I don’t know what he is doing here. He is supposed to be in the forest with the rest of the army.

“As I already said, father, I will enlighten you all. Don’t be rude. I was talking to my mate and will only be talking to her from here on out. Now, Freya, as I’ve said to you before, you never really knew Alex. Then again you also haven’t known him that long. I’m going to tell you exactly the kind of person that you have been screwing and lying next to for the few months you were together. Lets go back in time for a few minutes shall we. About 80 years ago to be exact, and I’m sure my father and mother will remember that there was an incident involving a certain family member and the council. It was found out that they were using the female prisoners as sex slaves. They raped and beat these women which didn’t sit too well with a lot of people but who would go against the council. This went on for years and had been going on for centuries before I or even my father was born.”

“Where are you going with this? Everyone knows about what your great-great-great-great grandfather and the council did in those days, which is the reason we have no council anymore.” Alex’s father asks which earns a powerful growl from Alex.

“Didn’t I tell you that I will only be talking to Freya? Interrupt again and I will kill you where you stand. You have no right to speak to me.”

“Alex, look at me. Nobody will interrupt you again. Please go on with your story.” I say to him hoping it will calm him down and take his focus away from his father. He turns and looks at me while taking a deep breath.

“Everyone knows about what happened back then and my grandfather decided that it was time to get rid of the council and my four times grandfather. Only my family knew of the extra abilities that I had which started manifesting as a child. They all just assumed that I was one of the gifted Lycans and nobody ever looked into this whole Goddess Blessed thing. Anyway, there were meetings being held on how to go about dismantling the council and what the punishment would be for my four times grandfather since he was in fact the King at the time. Finally, they decided to just arrest all of them and decide their fates through trial. The families of the women of course wanted them to just be executed since everyone knew what they had done, and the cocky bastards even admitted what they had done. They were all tried and convicted and sentenced to either life in prison or death. Those that got life in prison were the ones that only beat the women. Great-great-great-great grandfather somehow managed to get away before being dealt his death sentence. That’s where I come into play. I had a way of being able to track other species without the tracker that Alex put on you.”

“How? I mean I thought you said that there was a regular tracker mark and a mate tracker mark, but you have to bite the person you’re going to track.”
