The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 51
Alex’s POV
The minute I felt her awaken I had been trying to connect with her, but it felt like something was blocking us. We came up with a plan to surround the forest around the encampment but also leaving soldiers to surround the kingdom. The good thing about my army is that nobody knows how vast it really is, so even if they tell the enemy it wouldn’t make a difference. My army is not kept all within my kingdom, they are all over so that if I am ever somewhere without a lot of men, I can call upon the army that is in that area. There are a little over 20 million in my army combined. I never keep more than four or five million at a time within in the kingdom. This is why I have no allies and also why I am able to send soldiers to help out a pack without worrying about losing protection at home. I never intended on having such a vast army, and most that are in my army wanted to join. They are not all Lycans either, many of them are wolves and I even have a few bear and panther shifters as well. I’ve never been discriminatory against any other race. Over the years I have even had a few vampires join, but once they met their mates, they usually would leave and try to join a clan. None of that mattered to me and I’d make sure they were compensated enough to start their new life. Sometimes they still visit with their children or keep in touch in some way.
Shaking my head to clear my thoughts, I tell my wolf and Lycan to try to reach hers until she and I can mind-link. They tell me that she has escaped her captors and is running but they are still kind of weak. “What the hell did they give her?” I wonder to myself. As a Lycan, she should have shaken that off by now. We head out of my office, and I tell them what my wolf and Lycan told me. I’m moving fast and I know they can barely keep up with me, but I can’t think about that right now.
“Ethan and Renee, you two are going to stay here with the army and watch the kingdom.” I look at Renee. “Do not make me regret this. I trust Ethan and I am going to trust that you will follow his lead as the Gamma female and do what is needed to keep this kingdom safe.” She looks at me and straightens her posture giving me a serious face.
“Your majesty, I will do my best to keep the people of this kingdom safe. You have my word and I promise on the life of my pup and mate.” I hear a gasp from behind me but I keep my eyes trained on her and then look to Ethan.
“You two are expecting?” I ask him and he blushes before fixing his facial features.
“Yes, we are, but it won’t affect anything. We’ve already talked to the doctor, and she can fight and shift with no problems. We were going to tell everyone after the coronation but well, you know.”
“Congratulations to you both. Lets hope there won’t be any fighting though.” I sniff the air and can tell the child will be a Lycan so that means he has marked and mated with her and her wolf. That’s good.
“David, you’ll take Alpha Facundo and Beta Zachariah along with some of the cavalry. You know who to contact if you need more men when in position. Alpha Nicholas and some of the infantry will go with me. Luna Cabrera will stay here with my mother and sister in one of the bunkers. In the unlikely event he manages to get in here, the last thing we need is for him to get his hands on her again or any of our women or children for that matter. Mother, where is Shaniece anyway?”
“She was sulking in her room. I don’t know what has been up with her lately. I’ve mind-linked her and she is on her way here now.”
“Thank you. I only talked to her once, but she only said she felt strange. She wouldn’t explain what the strangeness felt like, so I left her alone. I had plans on talking to her again.”
Just then my sister walked in and she came up to me and gave me a hug. A loud growl erupted in the room and guards surrounded my family. They never surround me because they know I don’t need protection. What surprises me is that the growl came from Nicholas, and he was glaring at me. When the look in his eyes finally registered with me, I couldn’t help but burst into laughter. They all looked at me like I had lost my mind. Finally, I calmed down, and Nicholas even seemed to be looking at me with a confused expression.
“Nicholas, I wish you luck because you are going to need it buddy.” I chuckle and take my arms from around my sister and kiss the top of her head before saying, “Baby sis, you know that I love you more than anything and will protect you with my last breath, but now that job is for someone else. You remember when you told me that you felt strange?” She nods at me in understanding. “Okay, well I need you to turn around and look at Nicholas for me and tell me what happens.” She looks at me confused but does as I say. We all watch as she turns around and looks Nicholas in the eyes and they both shout “Mate!” at the same time before embracing each other.
After giving them a few moments to be together, we start mobilizing and head outside of the castle gates. Once we are all out, the guards close and lock the gates. When the gates are secure, last-minute instructions are handed out and we all take off running. My thoughts are only on getting to my mate before her captors catch up to her and try to take her back. This time they may go farther away with her this time. Thirty minutes later and I can smell her, also, there is a push on my mind, and I open the connection. It is Freya. “Alex. Hurry. I don’t know how long I am going to last. They hit me with two darts this time and now I’m about to take on what appears to be five wolves, but I think at least three are Lycans.”
“Freya, thank the goddess. I’m coming. Keep the link open and I can find you faster. If the link closes that is okay as long as you stay awake. My Lycan and wolf are both helping me find you faster through our bond. Hang on!”
I cut the link so that she could concentrate. Fighting three Lycans is already a task and when you add that she is still new to having a Lycan, that can make the task harder. I’m still worried about her not being able to shift and what they gave her making her weak. She shouldn’t have even been able to become weak from anything they gave her. Getting my mind back on the task at hand, I increase my speed and end up running another thirty minutes before I have to stop again. Freya is mind-linking me.
“Alex be careful. I feel as though he is stalling but I don’t know why. There may be others hiding in the forest surrounding us or he may have people ready to storm the kingdom knowing that you are away.”
“I have the kingdom covered so lets just worry about getting you away from them and back home safely. I’m almost to you. Keep him distracted as long as you can. I can smell your scent, so I’ll let that guide me. Cut the link. Shit!”
“Alex! What’s wrong?” she asks me. I chose to tell her the truth about the situation.
“You’re right. He has more hiding in the forests, but they aren’t just wolves and Lycans. There are also vampires here.”
“What does that mean?”
“Nothing other than it will take me a little longer to get to you with how many there are but I will make it to you. Freya, I’m going to have to do something that I hoped to never do, and I hope when it is all over that you can pull me back. Know that no matter what happens that I love you.”
After that I cut the link and got ready to do what I never wanted to do. I’m about to unleash my full powers and that scares me, especially since I don’t know how to control all of them. I’ve been practicing for years but have not mastered them all yet. Hopefully she will be able to help me calm enough to reign them back in but that involves us actually finding her and then I would have to recognize her, because if I don’t, there will be nothing anyone can do to stop me.
Closing my eyes, I center myself as much as I can and dig deep inside to call upon my powers. First, I provide a protective barrier around myself so that I don’t break my concentration with the enemy attacking me. Once that is in place, I start to call on my powers of strength and the next one is to be able to manipulate the elements. I concentrate on the sun to make it more potent than normal to take out the vampires first. The older they are the more resistant they are to the sun. Opening my eyes, I see that the vampires are either in flames or running to get out of the sun, but their numbers are down now, so all I need to worry about are the Lycans and wolves.
Wolves and Lycans run at me all at once and I fight them all off tearing into them with just my claws shifted. I don’t need to transform in order to fight them, though it would be better. I’m deadly enough without transforming into my wolf or Lycan counterparts. That’s one of the reasons I am the most feared Lycan King. This fight is taking time away from me getting to my mate, so I must end this quickly. Transforming into my Lycan, I run through the enemy ripping out throats and hearts instantly killing wolves and Lycans alike. There’s a trail of blood and destruction left in my wake as I make a path through the forest taking me closer to Freya.
My powers are growing the more I allow them to stay open and I’m keeping them open in order to still control the sun as well as give myself extra strength to kill them all quicker. My men and Nicholas are right behind me fighting alongside me. I hear a whimper and turn to see two Lycans attacking Nicholas and I ran towards him taking out the one going for his throat. A chunk was taken out of his right shoulder, and he had started to bleed. Inside I curse wishing that he and my sister had discovered they were mates before now, because marking each other may have activated his Lycan.
More come at me and kill them before returning to Nicholas and telling him to get back to the castle and get some help. He can’t continue fighting like this with that shoulder bleeding. Even if he shifts to help with healing, it will still take some time to heal enough to be effective. He looks as though he wants to argue with me, but I give him an Alpha command and he has no choice but to obey. I told him that I’ll be back soon enough with his sister and not to worry. Once he takes off, I send ten guards to follow him and make sure that he gets back to safety.
Suddenly, a searing pain shoots in my chest and almost brings me to my knees. What the hell is going on? I let out a loud, earth-shaking growl from the anger coursing through me because I know something has happened to Freya. I fought off more wolves and Lycans that decided to try to use my distraction to attack me. I laugh to myself as I rip out their hearts watching the shocked look on their faces as their bodies hit the ground. Stupid fools. The pain is still moving through my chest, and I can feel the connection to Freya slowly shutting down. “Freya! Freya! Tell me what’s happening?” There is no answer and then I feel nothing. There’s no connection or scent or any other indication that she is alive. My heart spasms and clenches from the pain. My wolf and Lycan both say that their connections are also gone. The concentration on my powers dropped and the power faded away and red clouded my vision and all that went through my mind was that I would kill anyone involved in the death of my mate. The blood rage had begun.
