The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 45
Alex’s POV
I stood at the altar waiting with the oldest elder, David, and Ethan at my side while we waited for my gorgeous mate to make her entrance in a few moments. I’ve never been more nervous in my life, but more excited than anything. Tonight, we will complete our mating after we go for a pack run once the coronation is over. Normally the coronation would have been a few months from after I found her, but with the rogue situation, I didn’t want to wait. The kingdom needed to know exactly who she was and not to mess with her. Nobody was stupid enough to come for me directly and I know that they would go for anyone that I love or for my people to get to me. Making her Queen and completing our mating would give her more power. She is very powerful, but not as much as me. I’m freakishly more powerful than any that have come before me and quite frankly that scares plenty of people, including my parents.
The music started to play, and everyone stood up. Her parents were in the first row on one side and mine were in the first row on the other. Right before the music got to the part that was supposed to signal the doors to be opened for her to walk in, I felt the mind-link open for a second and Freya called my name once before the link shut off. What the hell? “Freya? Freya?” I call her name through the link but when she doesn’t answer, I open my bond to feel for her and I can’t feel anything. She isn’t dead or I would have felt that, but she must be unconscious. Rage starts to fill me and my aura explodes out of me causing everyone in the room to submit and whimper. As much as I don’t want to hurt them, I can’t help it and without Freya here to calm me down, I may just go on another damn rampage.
My father is the only one that can withstand my Alpha aura but only barely. He is having trouble getting to me but when he does, he asks me what is wrong. I turn to look at him and I can see that my eyes are red from the reflection in his own. “Dad, I don’t know what exactly has happened but get ready to go to war.”
“Son, go to war with who? Can you reign in your aura so we can all talk? You’re scaring everyone.”
Taking some deep breaths, I try to lower my aura before I hurt someone, but it is hard with my rage still burning.
“David! Ethan!” I yell in my Alpha King voice.
“Your majesty?” They say in unison.
“Ethan, I need you to get the army ready to mobilize when I give the command.” He bows at me and heads out of the room.
“David, you’re with me. Alpha Facundo and Alpha Nathaniel, you’re with me too, as well as you father. Mother, please take Luna Catherine and Savannah with you to your rooms. Stay there until we come for you.”
“What about Freya?” Her mother asks and I feel my heart clench. I look in her direction and mind-link her instead of saying it out loud and panicking everyone.
“I believe that Freya has been kidnapped or at best knocked out somewhere in the castle.”
She puts a hand over her mouth to stifle a sob and I turn and walk out of the room. I can barely take my own pain let alone anyone else’s right now. We headed to my office, and I opened the bond again trying to feel for her location. Still not feeling anything, I decided to just leave it open so that I would know the minute she awakened. “Come on baby. Open those beautiful eyes of yours so I can find you.”
I slam my fists hard on the desk and everyone jumps. No, I can’t lose it now, especially without her here to calm me down. Something just isn’t adding up. The mate ball was just three weeks ago, and this was a planned attack. Of course, the coronation and mate ball were events that were broadcasted throughout the community, but I could smell the scent of rogues in the corridor, and they shouldn’t be able to know about these private events. My mind is working and putting some things together now. Someone in this castle or kingdom gave them the information.
“Son, what are you thinking? I can see the wheels turning in your head.”
“I’m thinking that we have a traitor in our midst and when I find out who it is they hurt badly before begging me for death. David and Alpha Nathaniel, if you don’t mind, could you both check Freya’s room. They wouldn’t be bold enough to go into our room, but her temporary one may have some evidence.” Her brother looks at me as though he doesn’t understand why I’m asking him to go. I don’t have time for this right now. “Nathaniel, I need you to go because you know your sister and her scent, so if anything is off in there you’ll notice before David will.” Normally I wouldn’t explain myself, but time is of the essence, so I’ll do it this once.
He nods in understanding, and they take off to Freya’s room. Now we all need to work to figure out where she is being kept. I swear if they hurt one hair on her head they’ll all die. No dungeon. No trial. I’m going straight to execution.
“Son, calm down. You need to stay calm in order to get your mate back. If you lose it now, then who will find her. You’re her mate so you have a better chance than all of us at locating her. We don’t have time to worry about you going into blood rage.”
He was right and I knew that, but it was hard containing my anger. “Hopefully there is some kind of clue in her room to help us locate her. She is still out, and until she awakens there is nothing I can do. I shouldn’t have taken the tracker off of her.” I hang my head. Never in my life have I felt this defeated and vulnerable. All this power and there is nothing in my arsenal that can help me locate my mate. Her father comes up to me and puts his hand on my shoulder.
“My daughter is strong and a fighter, so when she does wake up, be ready.” He chuckles a little. “My daughter will give whoever stupidly took her hell son. They will regret ever kidnapping her. In the meantime, we need you to stay level-headed so that we can be there to help her fight. Now is there anything that your scouts have found that could give us any kind of starting place to look for her at least?”
We start pouring over all the information that I have and conclude that we could start looking in the deeper part of a forest that is about one and a half hours away from here. As we’re looking and mapping out the best route to go into the forest, David and Nathaniel come barging back into the office.
“Tell me that you found something.”
“Nathaniel found this note. Almost overlooked it because it was on the side of the trashcan.” says David.
“I can’t place the scent in her room either, but it wasn’t hers or a rogue. Two scents smelled like the royal pack, one was Freya’s, but that last scent, I don’t know. It smelled kind of like a mixture of the royal pack and something else.” says Nathaniel. “But it smells like the royal pack is leaving, so maybe it is someone that has joined a new pack?”
My eyes turn hard and cold, and it takes everything in me to not lose control. I need to ask her before I accuse her. I turned and looked at David. “Get Michelle in here now.”
