The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 70
“You are right your majesty. We do know about power boosting, and your mate’s theory is also correct. If you connect with you then you would get a power boost, but remember that even though your powers are similar, you are still stronger and her power is limited. She cannot last as long as you without needing to recharge, so we will also help you. In order to pull off what you’re trying to do, it will take a massive amount of power. We cannot perform the ritual ourselves because as we’ve said before that kind of magic is forbidden. No matter what it is still necromancy. We do not work for your Goddess, we work for Gaia and there are things we simply cannot do, but we can assist good people. Sort of a magical loophole.” She smiles at us and the rest of her coven nods in agreement.
“We thank you for all your help and for any help that you can lend us in trying this, Cassidy.” says Alex.
“Yes, thank you so much for all that you and your coven have done for us, especially in getting Alex back home.” She laughs.
“His majesty would have found his way through the barrier at some point. I doubt the Goddess would have let him stumble around for too long.” One of the other women leans in and whispers something in her ear and she nods. “Tabitha has been stripped of her powers, but she is still in a magical coma. We won’t be releasing her from that state until we can figure out how to help her cope with her grief. If that isn’t addressed, then it won’t matter that her powers were stripped. Dark magic isn't like white magic. White magic is something you are born with, but dark magic is acquired. This means she can learn it all over again and we’ll be right back where we started.”
“We will handle that if or when that happens, but for now I would like for everyone to relax and eat. Tomorrow we will get started on arranging trials for those captured and rescuing those still in Tobias’ camp. Shayla has family there that we need to get out of there as well as other prisoners. There are also others that need to be arrested and sentenced.” I could see Shayla smile and lean into David, and I gave her a small smile. Earlier, after our shower and love making, I talked to Alex about what happened with Shayla and hoped that he wouldn’t punish her. When I told her that nothing would happen to her, that was kind of a false promise because I am not the Queen yet, and that decision was up to Alex. I just hoped that he would let her explain and hopefully forgive her or not punish her too harshly since she is David’s mate.
After dinner and dessert, we all broke off and went our separate ways. Alex said that he would go and try to revive a few of the warriors tonight and that he’d be back later. We kissed each other and I headed to the library because I wasn’t feeling like going to bed just yet. My body was exhausted from fighting and the power use, but falling asleep was not what I wanted to do. My mind was racing with everything that had happened since I shifted. “This has been one hell of a ride so far ladies.” I said to my wolf and Lycan. They pranced around in my head happily yipping and growling.
“We are happy to be back with mate, though we are still very mad at his wolf and Lycan. We plan on teaching them a lesson soon.” They said in unison. I laughed.
“I will not stop you guys. I forgive Alex but you two do what you have to do in order to forgive your mates. Please don’t do too much damage though.”
They nod their heads and then lay down and go to sleep in my mind. I smile at them both. I can’t imagine my life without them now that they are here. After searching the bookshelves for something to read, I settled on reading a book by one of my favorite authors. The book is about the Carpathian warriors and is a great series. You see they turn into feral vampires if they don’t find their mates in time, and it comes pretty close for a couple of them. I cried reading one of the books because the bad guy finds his mate though it was years too late. She had become an old woman waiting for him and she ended up being the one that kills him. Had me wishing he had found her sooner because the old woman was so sad. When I first read it, I thought that she would be able to turn him back or something but that isn’t how it works. I really was rooting for a happy ending for the old lady.
Curling up in a window seat, I begin to read and get lost in the story of the Carpathians. I have no idea when I fell asleep, but it is apparent when I open my eyes that I am no longer in the library. There is a lamp on in the sitting room of our bedroom and I swing my legs out of the bed and slide into my slippers before walking out of the bedroom. Alex is sitting on the sofa in front of the fire place with a drink in his hand, and I try to recall ever seeing him drink besides the occasional glass of wine at dinner. The thought is pushed to the back of my mind as I watch him swirl the liquid in the glass before taking a sip. His back is rigid and I can tell that he is stressed about something. Maybe reviving all those warriors took a lot out of him. Before I start to walk towards him, I can hear him sigh before he sets the glass down on the coffee table.
“How long are you going to stand there and stare at me?” He says before turning to look at me. I look at him a second longer before walking to the sofa and sitting next to him. He lifts me up and places me onto his lap before putting his head in the crook of my neck and inhaling my scent.
“Why are you not sleeping my love? What’s bothering you? I can feel your distress through the bond.”
“I’m just thinking about everything and how to fix it all.”
“I understand but you should rest. I’m sure helping those soldiers took a lot of energy. How are you feeling?”
“Physically I feel fine but mentally I’m drained. There is so much that needs to be handled and after what the witches told us, that just adds one more thing to the list. Tabitha should be a priority but I simply can’t make her that right now.”
“Then maybe you should work on delegating duties so that you are not carrying this load on your own. We’ll work on the soldiers first thing in the morning and do as many as we can before I’m depleted. At noon, we will all sit down and have lunch to rejuvenate ourselves, and then send my brother and Zach along with some warriors and maybe even Ethan as back up in case they feel they don’t need to listen to my brother and let them collect the rest of Tobias’ men and the prisoners locked up there. While they are doing that, I’ll be helping to organize getting the things that were damaged around here fixed and people sorted. Renee and Shayla can help me. If I run into any trouble, I can get the help of our mothers. During this time, you and the witches can work on Tabitha. Maybe there’s a way to lessen her pain enough to where she can be talked to and made calm enough to listen to reason. The ultimate goal is to help her grieve without wanting to kill everyone.”
