The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 34

Freya climbed off his lap and quickly transformed into her wolf and took off towards the palace. She could hear him right behind her then he moved to her right side and they ran together back to the tree line. David was there waiting with clothes for both before returning to the palace. Once he was out of sight, she shifted back and put on the oversized shirt that he brought to her while Alex put on some shorts. Together they walked back into the palace and went to their own rooms to shower before heading down to the dining room for dinner.

Freya’s POV

We went downstairs for dinner in silence. He held my hand and I enjoyed the feel of his touch, but once we reached the doors to the dining room, he let go of my hand and I must admit the loss of his touch made my heart ache. I kept telling myself that I just had to wait one more full day and then we didn’t have to pretend anymore. He opens the door and motions for me to walk in and then he follows behind me. Moving past me, he heads to the head of the table and then clears his throat before speaking in a loud authoritative voice.

“Attention royal pack members, I have a special guest that I would like all of you to meet.” He looks in my direction and gestures for me to stand next to him and I walk over. When I reach him, he puts one hand on my shoulder and gently turns me to face everyone. “This is Freya Cabrera of the Dancing Moon pack and she will be with us until the Mate Ball. Please treat her with the same respect that you would treat any member of our pack. Now everyone please enjoy your dinner.” He slides out a chair on his left side and tells me to have a seat before he takes his seat at the head of the table with David sitting at his right side.

Everyone at the table is talking and I can hear that some of the conversations are about me. People are curious as to who I am and why I am here. I ignore them and try to focus on David and Alex when the staff comes out and places the dinner onto the table. Alice sees me and smiles at me and I smile back as she places a glass of water in front of me. I thank her and she smiles even brighter before moving on to the next person.

As the evening went on, several people talked to me and asked who I was and about my pack. Most of them were nice and we laughed and had a good time, while others seemed to be wary of my presence. Some of the men sent lustful looks my way while some of the women sneered at me anytime Alex touched my hand or spoke to me with a smile. I’m guessing these are some of the women that thought they had a chance with my mate. I was having a conversation with a woman about a jewelry shop that she owns in the town square, when Alice’s mate tripped and spilled a glass of red wine on me. Now it really wasn’t a big deal, but before I could say anything, an older man stood up and walked over to the guy shouting.

“You clumsy idiot! She is a guest of the King and you stupidly spilled a drink on her. How dare you!” The man raised his hand and slapped the boy down to the floor and for a second it seemed like everyone was in shock. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Alex about to stand up but before he could I found myself speaking.

“Excuse me but I think the question should be, how dare you?”

“I beg your pardon?” he asked with a sneer.

“I’m not the one whose pardon you should be begging. How dare you strike him for spilling a drink on me? We were all sitting here and have excellent vision and sight yet I did not see or hear the King tell you to discipline him, but still you did. Furthermore, I am the one that was supposedly wronged and I didn’t call for him to be punished. It was an accident and I don’t punish people for accidents but I do believe in punishing people for doing wrong, and you sir, were dead wrong.”

“Who do you think you are to speak to me in that manner? Do you know who I am? You are only a guest here and do not have the right to tell me what I can or cannot do to the staff here.”

“You just said that I am a guest of the King, and no I don’t know or care who you are at all. You see, in my pack, when a person makes a mistake, they apologize and are forgiven, but you seem to think that an accident warrants abuse and I am not okay with that at all.” I can feel my temper start to rise as my wolf and Lycan are both pushing to come forward due to this guy’s blatant disrespect towards me. Technically I am this guy’s Luna and Queen and neither my wolf nor my Lycan are liking how he is talking to us. Normally I would never get this upset so quickly, but I remembered what Alex said about upsetting newly shifted wolves. If I keep this up any longer, I will transform and I will kill this man. I can tell that he is older than me, but somehow, I know that I can beat and kill him in a fight. Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath and mind-link Alex telling him to step in quickly before I’m on trial for murder. You see, it doesn’t matter if I’m his mate or not, nobody is exempt from going to trial for murder. I am sure I would get off by Alex, but nobody wants to go to trial with this rogue problem happening.

Alex stands up and the man goes quiet turning towards him. I don’t know if thought that Alex would have his back or what, but what I did know was that while we were arguing, I hadn’t noticed that the corners of his eyes had a tint of red. Shit! Not this again. The only thing I couldn’t tell was if he was mad at me or at whoever this man was because technically, I did step out of line when I confronted the man. When will I learn to keep my mouth shut? This is not my pack or territory, well not yet, and I can’t just do and say whatever like I did back home. This could very well be seen as me being disrespectful towards a member of the royal pack. I’m starting to wish I had just stayed home and waited to come here with the rest of my pack.

“Lord Bellevue, do you think that during dinner was the right time to discipline someone that you deemed had disrespected me?”

“Your majesty, he made the mistake in front of everyone so he should be disciplined in front of everyone.”

“THAT IS NOT WHAT I ASKED! I will repeat myself and rephrase so that you can better understand the question. Do you think that at dinner and in front of our guest was the right time to discipline someone? Think carefully before answering.” I watched Alex and saw that he had a slight tremble in his hands and he kept clenching and unclenching them. I mind-linked David quickly.

“David, we must get Alex out of here or at least stop this before he completely loses control. Look at his hands, I can tell he is struggling for control and I can’t touch him in this room full of people to calm him. This will end badly if we don’t calm him.
