The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 11

“Your Alpha King is talking to you! How dare you sit here and not answer. You have already disrespected him as well as us and now you disrespect him even more by not answering. What is wrong with you?” Everyone is shocked at her behavior including me. For a minute nobody said anything then I smelt tears and knew that Michelle was crying. “Speak and quit that crying you insolent child!”

“Honey what has gotten into you? You’ve never raised your voice before let alone hit our daughter.”

“It is well past due. I sat back for over a millennium and been the perfect wife and mate, then we had a daughter, and I fulfilled my duties as a mother. As she grew up, I allowed you to be the disciplinarian and never questioned anything you said or did concerning her. Somehow, she still managed to grow up a spoiled, entitled, rotten person. We didn’t teach her to be disrespectful to her Alpha or be sneaky and underhanded.” She turns from her husband and looks at her daughter. “Now you will tell him what he wants to know and after that, if he doesn’t banish you, you will go home with us and I suggest you figure out what you are good at other than laying on your back, because you will have exactly one month to find a place to live.”

“Honey, don’t you think you’re being a little harsh with her? We don’t need to kick her out of the house.”

“I’m not only kicking her out of the house, but she will also be cut off. I’ve seen the way she treats those that she feels are lower than her. She gets that from you unfortunately. I don’t know how either of you can act so high and mighty when neither of you hold any type of position other than the fact that we are best friends of the former king and queen. If it were not for that relationship nobody would respect us. We are no more than regular Lycans.”

This whole time I had just been staring with my mouth open. I’ve never heard this woman speak above a whisper and today she has been going off on not only her daughter but her husband as well. I must say that I like this new person she has become and maybe if she had been this way when Michelle was growing up, she wouldn’t have turned out the way she did. Then again, she might still have because the girl is just like her father as her mother said. Her mother gives her a look that tells her to start talking and she better not even think of lying.

“Alpha, the reason I did it was because the food wasn’t appropriate for a Mating Ball or mate announcement ceremony. I thought that you had finally decided to pick me as your mate since one of the flowers you picked is my favorite plus, we’re having a Mating Ball after not having them for decades. I was only ordering more appropriate food. What you picked is more for a birthday party or backyard barbecue.” The anger that I had before this meeting started has returned as though it never left.

“No matter what you thought, it was not your place to rearrange anything. The food and flowers that were picked are for my tastes not yours. If I had chosen you, which I have not and never will, then you would have to deal with what I chose because obviously I picked these things for a reason. The Mating Ball has a theme and this year that theme is Southern Creole. Every year a new region will be picked, and the theme will be whatever that region is known for or close enough to it anyway. There will also be plenty of young wolves and Lycans present that are not accustomed to “high society” food and I want everyone to be comfortable. I don’t want anyone to feel like they don’t belong here. It has dawned on me lately that some of my fellow Lycans have a superiority complex and that needs to change. Yes, we are stronger and faster and more deadly than our shifter wolf cousins but that does not mean we are better.” I turn to look at her mother before I speak again.

“I agree with all that you said except for one part and that is that you are not only respected because you and my parents are best friends, but you are also respected because you have shown respect and love for the people. Nothing but good things have been said about you throughout the years. Most of those good things referred to you more than your mate and daughter but still the good outweighs the bad. The only problem with them is the superiority issue that I just named, and I know that this can cause a problem and is one of the reasons that the Mating Balls stopped happening. Lycans started believing they were better than the wolves and thus were rejecting their mates and taking chosen mates of their own kind. That stops now. If I must, I will command everyone to accept their mates when they find them.”

There is a collective gasp in the room and this time my mother speaks up. She has been quiet this entire time, but I know her, and I know that she has been taking in everything that has been said so far. “Sweetheart, I know that you are angry and for good reason, but I don’t think that forcing them to take their mates is the right way to handle the situation. How about we have everyone stay a week after they find their mates and have them take time to get to know each other a bit. If they still don’t want to be with them, then they go their separate ways after rejecting each other but only if the rejection is mutual. If one mate wants to be with their mate but the other one doesn’t, then maybe we intervene.”

“Mother how would we intervene?” My mother is a very smart and compassionate woman. I am curious to hear her idea. My mate reminds me a bit of my mother and that thought makes me smile a little. She notices my smile and smiles back at me before standing up and pacing a little. I know when she does this, that the wheels in her mind are turning.

“Well before the Mating Ball, you will meet with all the women and then all the men and talk to them. That should kind of give you a feel for whether they will be okay or not with accepting their mates regardless of species. If there is any hesitation, then you command them to at least talk and get to know their mates before outright rejecting them. Then again, maybe I should talk to the women, and you can talk to the men. We don’t need the women wanting to reject their mates because they’ve seen you or recognizing you as their mate before the ball starts. For the time being I can use my Luna voice to command them long enough until after the mating ball, and then you can command the couples later if there is a need.” I think for a minute about what she said, and it doesn’t sound like a bad plan.

“That isn’t a bad plan mom. Okay now that we’ve resolved that part, it is the older generation I will more than likely have to worry about, and I will be holding a meeting to address that situation. I’ve had quite enough of this segregation and bigotry.”

My mother and father have proud looks on their faces and so does Michelle’s mother but Michelle and her father look like I just killed their puppy. A smirk comes on my lips as I stand up and walk over to Michelle. “Rise!” She stands and looks down submissively.

“Your mother’s punishment is fitting enough for me at this time, so I won’t do anything else to you unless you step out of line again. So, you know, I don’t believe you about thinking I’d changed my mind about choosing you as a mate. If I haven’t done anything in all these years to make you believe that what the hell would make you think it happened over night. You were a friend and that was all but now you are no longer that to me. You are a royal subject and nothing more. All your privileges are revoked effective immediately. And I’m expecting you to attend the Mating Ball and just to be sure...” I pause and look at my Beta who smiles at me before I continue.

I stand straight and lift her chin making her look into my eyes then proceed using my Alpha voice. “Michelle Bellevue, you will attend the Mating Ball and if you find your mate there, you will not reject him before talking to me first.” After I’m done talking to her, I stand in front of her father and make him rise as well. Using my Alpha voice again, I start talking to him. “Antonio Bellevue, you will not go against your mate’s punishment of your daughter. You will not house nor give her any money from this day forth. Whatever is in her bank account currently is what she will have to live on until she finds and accepts her mate. If he isn’t rich, then she will just have to work and help him like a mate should to make ends meet. Neither you nor your daughter can ask anyone to help her.” I have a thought after saying that and look at Michelle again using my Alpha voice. “Michelle, you will not accept your mate as your mate for any reason other than you love and want to be with him. You will not accept due to station or money. Also, you will stop pursuing me and live your life.”
