The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 72
“Well, that would leave you in second place.”
“What can I do to take first place?” he asked me in a seductive voice.
“I think there may be a way, but I don’t know if you can handle the task.” I wiggle my eyebrows at him and when he smirks at me, I pull away from him leaving my towel behind and take off running. I’m naked and the towel on my head falls as I open the bedroom door and take off running down the hall until I reach the stairs. I know exactly when he starts coming for me and I don’t slow down as I race down the stairs. My speed picks up as I zoom through the castle until I reach the back door that opens to the gardens and keep going until I’m in the forest. He’s hunting me and it excites both me and my wolf and Lycan. We never got to finish our marking and mating ceremony, but he said we’ll do it soon as the next full moon comes around. That will be next month sometime and honestly, I hate having to wait that long, but with everything going on at the moment, that could be a good thing that it is a month away.
Part of me knows that he is letting me get as far ahead as I am, but I don’t care because the feeling that I am getting from running through the forest and being pursued by my mate is a high that I don’t want to come down from any time soon. The sound of his feet has been replaced by the sound of his wolf’s paws and they are coming up on me fast. Swiftly I change into my wolf form without breaking a stride. Thankfully I was already naked so at least I didn’t ruin any of my clothes.
My wolf howls in anticipation of our mate catching us, and I just laugh at how she acts like a lovesick teenager complete with raging hormones whenever her mate is near her. She’s a tough wolf but put that man anywhere near us and she turns into a hormonal teenager. My Lycan is no different, but at least she is a bit more subtle than my wolf. We begin to slow down our pace when an unknown scent hits my nose. I stop and try to identify the smell, but before I can get a good whiff, I am struck on my right side hard enough to knock me a few feet away. At first, I think that Alex ran into me because I stopped so suddenly, but the same scent I smelled before has become stronger and I know that whatever hit me is the owner of the smell. Standing up, I shake out my fur, and look in the direction the scent is coming from to see a very big brown and white wolf looking at me with gleaming fangs. I can tell that he isn’t a rogue, but he also isn’t from our kingdom. Where is Alex? He should have reached me by now, not that I need him to take care of this one wolf. My hackles rise and I get into a defensive stance. My wolf and Lycan are both peering out of my eyes sizing up the wolf in front of me. His size indicates that he could be an Alpha or at least a Beta.
He definitely isn’t as big as Alex, but he is a little taller than me. I’m not getting an Alpha aura coming from him but that doesn’t mean anything, because he could be suppressing it like some Alphas do. He is sizing me up as well, as we start to circle one another. I’m trying to keep my focus on him, so that he doesn’t know that I already know he has four other friends waiting to pounce. I sensed them after I was hit and now, I have to figure out how to to take them all out. Attacking and ending the one in front of me quickly will hopefully scare the others into thinking twice about attacking me. This was supposed to be a fun night with my mate and these idiots turned it into a fight night. I’m so mad that I start to feel my blood boil from my anger rising. I can tell that my eyes have turned red, not only from them reflecting in the eyes of the other wolf, but because of the magic I’m starting to feel flowing through me. I let out a warning growl to let them know to back off, but they growl back at me and then he lunges. When his is almost over me, I jump up to meet him in the air and sink my fangs into his neck and we crash to the ground with me on top of him. Quickly I yank my head back ripping his head from his shoulders.
My wolf and Lycan are both hungry for blood at this point and instead of waiting for the others to attack, I go in search of them. They tried to circle me and so I go for the one to my right, slashing down his back with my claws spilling blood as the one on my left tries to sneak up behind me and I let him knock me down then twisted so he was on top of me and kicked with my hind legs sending him into a tree. As he collided, I heard bones break, and his body went limp. He isn’t dead because I can still hear his heart beating. The third wolf looks a bit hesitant to attack after seeing his friends be taken down.
I stand up and shake out my fur which is now covered in blood and dirt, and growl lowly at him while getting into an attack position. I’m poised to strike, and he looks terrified and is about to turn to run when suddenly he is lifted by the scruff of his neck, then there is an arm going through his chest holding his heart. The arm pulls back and the wolf falls to the ground with a thud. His heart rolls to the side of his body and I stare up to see my mate in his Lycan form looking menacing. If I wasn’t his mate, I’d be terrified right now, but all I feel is pissed!"
“He was mine!” I say through the mind-link. He just smirks at me and shakes his head.
“You were taking too long, and Stryker and Khal are bugging me to spend time with Celestia and Seraphina.” He says back.
My wolf and Lycan are instantly happy and running around inside my mind begging me for control. As much as I want to let them take over and spend time with their mates, we have a problem on our hands. Who sent these wolves to come after us? If nobody sent them, then why did they attack us on our land?
“I’d love to, but shouldn’t we find out who these wolves are and why they attacked us?”
“I’ve already alerted patrols and Ethan is coming to help them collect the one you left alive to question him.”
