The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 27

Alex hands starts filling my plate with food like he has been doing this every day. My mind is too consumed with what happened earlier in my father’s office to really pay attention to the kind gesture by my mate. I have questions for him, and I know that I will have to wait until we can talk in private in order to get those answers. Feeling that someone is looking at me, I look up to see my parents, mate, and his beta and gamma all looking at me. I guess someone said something to me while I was in my thoughts.

“I’m sorry, did someone say something?” My mate looks at me smiling and shakes his head.

“Uh yeah Freya. I asked you if you’re going to miss me when I go to live at the palace with my mate.” Renee smirks at me when she says this, but little does she know that she will be getting a rude awakening very soon.

“Why would I miss you? I don’t miss you now. Didn’t you say that you hope your mate was from another pack? Looks like you got your wish, and I wish you well and your mate lots of luck because he is going to need it.” I raise my glass as if to say “cheers” right before taking a sip of my water. Drinking my water, I try hard to hide my own smirk behind my glass, but when I turn my head, I notice that my mate and David are both trying very hard not to laugh. I feel a push on my mind which tells me that someone I’ve never linked with is trying to link with me. Looking around the table I see that it is David so I let him in and at first, I don’t hear anything but laughter. Finally his laughter dies down and he starts to speak.

“I’m going to love having you in the palace Luna. Things will not be dull with you around. Does she know that you are mated to Alex?”

“I told him to tell Ethan not to say anything and she will find out in due time.”

“In other words, you’re going to surprise her for the Mate Ball.”

“Exactly. I can’t wait until I tell her that she will NOT be my gamma female.”

“Damn Luna! Why not? Is there something we should know about her? I mean, will she be a threat to the you or Alex? If so, whether she is Ethan’s mate or not she will have to be handled. We cannot tolerate any threats to the King or Queen. We have enough going on with the rogue problem.”

“She isn’t going to be a threat, trust me. She knows I’ll put her down if she even looks at me wrong. Besides, I think we have an understanding after our last encounter.” I sip more water and cut the mind-link. We’ve been talking amongst ourselves long enough and everyone is starting to stare.

We all continue eating and having small talk. Throughout the dinner I notice Renee giving me nasty looks as if she thinks that because we have guests I won’t do anything to her. Since I know that I am not a regular wolf, I try very hard to not let her get to me and it works until she does something that makes me, my wolf, and my Lycan see red. Alex was talking about how they would have to leave for the palace in the morning so Renee needed to pack her things if she was going with them now but that she could wait and leave with the pack when we go for the Mate Ball. I zoned out thinking about what I was going to pack for my birthday and the ball, when I see her hand come across the table and she places it on his forearm. That was bad enough, but then she started to run her hand up and down. When she looked at me with a smirk that she quickly hid before anyone else could see, I no longer cared about anything or anyone. A thunderous growl came out of me and I was across the table faster than anyone could have predicted and had her pinned to the floor. My claws were extended and I was about to plunge them deep into her heart when suddenly I felt all warm and tingly and my wolf and Lycan started to calm down. My body was lifted off of Renee and carried from the room and up the stairs. He put me down in the room that he was using and closed and locked the door.

“What the hell Alex?! Why did you pull me off of her?”

“I can’t have you murdering the mate of my Gamma.”

“Is that it or is the real reason that you enjoyed her touching you?” I have no idea why I said that because I could feel through the bond that he found her touch disgusting, but I was pissed and had to take it out on someone.

“Now you know damn well that is not true. I don’t want anyone other than you touching me. If she wasn’t mated to my Gamma then I wouldn’t have cared what you did to her, hell I would have punished her myself, but I know that would have devastated Ethan. The last thing I need right now is a Gamma filled with blood rage and rogues to deal with at the same time.” I start to calm down and move to sit on the bed.

“I’m sorry. I let my temper get the better of me and that seemed to be fueled by the bond. Normally I can let things that she does roll off me unless she is being very disrespectful. When she touched you though my wolf and Lycan wanted her head.”

“Freya, I understand. I wanted to do the same thing when Zachariah pulled you off the sofa. Everything in me screamed to break his arms, but I can’t do that. You’ll learn to control it better with time.” He kisses my forehead then climbs into the bed behind me and lays down.

“What are you doing?” I ask him.

“I am going to bed my love. I have to be up early to head back to the palace. I’m sure there is a search party looking for me sent by my mother.”

“Do you have to go so soon?” I hang my head and start to play with my fingers.

“Yes, unfortunately I do. When I left it was spontaneous. I didn’t tell anyone where I was going and as King, I shouldn’t have done that. All I could think about was getting to you. We weren’t visiting a neighboring pack when I heard your screams.”

“Then what were you doing?”

“Remember in the dream I gave you a mark?” I nod my head yes and he continues. “Well I told you that it was a tracking mark, so that if anything happened to you before we could properly mate and mark each other, I could find you. Freya I was outside of the palace when I heard you call for me and then I heard you screaming and just shifted and took off running. Thankfully, David was already with me and he just followed while mind-linking Ethan. What I did was not the protocol of a royal, so I must go back before the rogues try something if they get wind of my absence.”

He pulled me close to him and we laid on the bed together in comfortable silence. Turns out that I didn’t have to ask him anything. He just told me on his own and I can’t help but feel good about that and I also hope that he’ll always just tell me things and not keep anything from me in the future as well. I lay there in the arms of my mate as I think about what it would be like to live in a palace instead of here. My eyes begin to droop and I drift off to sleep.
