Back at the castle...

Everyone is running around setting up shelters for the overflow of people that didn’t fit into the ones that were already there, soldiers are gearing up for battle, and Freya along with her family and friends are all waiting anxiously for what is to come. Soon it will be time for them to head to the field and hopefully Tobias will follow them there. Nobody wants a war but unfortunately there is no way around it where Tobias is concerned. He is hell bent on taking the kingdom by any means necessary, and people will be hurt whether he wins this battle or not, so they are making arrangements to hopefully have minimal losses and for people to escape should things go south.

Time seems to fly by as they wait for the moment to leave. Everyone spends time with their mates and loved ones or preparing. One the time comes; everyone says their goodbyes to their loved ones and head out towards the back of the castle and through the forests leading to a path that leads to the battlefield. They all get into position and wait for Tobias to show up. What they don’t know is that not only does he have wolves, Lycans, and vampires on his side but also a coven of dark witches being led by Tabitha. The swamp is quiet as if all the animals know what is about to happen and have vacated the area. There are no birds chirping, fish jumping in the water, or alligators coming up on the banks to sunbathe. It is as though the entire swamp area had been completely emptied of all animal life. That gave the area an eerie feel that made goosebumps form on the arms of everyone around.

Freya, David, Freya’s father, Alex’s father, and Freya’s brother all stood on the front line staring out into the field watching for any signs of the enemy. Their warriors were all spread out throughout the field and swamp. Some hidden in trees in human form with weapons and others in wolf or Lycan form hidden within the trees and brush of the forest. Everyone was on high alert and not a sound could be heard other than the rapid beating of their heartbeats.

“Freya, I hope Alex gets here in time but if he doesn’t and things look bad for us, I want you to head back to the castle as fast as you can. That will be the first place he goes to look for you and you should be there to greet him. Don’t worry about the rest of us, just get to Alex and hopefully get him to us.” Alex’s father says to her while looking straight ahead. Freya opens her mouth to speak but he shakes his head and then looks at her. “We all know what we signed up for, and dying is a small price to pay for making sure that he doesn’t get his hand on this kingdom and cause nothing but pain to the people who live here. We’ve talked to our mates, and they understand the risks that we are taking. No, they don’t like the idea of losing us and we will try our hardest to make sure we return to them, but at the end of the day it is not about just us. Your job is to make sure to get Alex here at all costs so that if we do perish it will not be in vain.”

“Okay, I will get him here no matter what.” She says with tears in her eyes. A fire ignites within her and all she can think of is the hatred that she has for Tobias and all the pain he has caused and is still causing for the people that she loves. She remembers the note telling her that soon he would have her and her mother and that he would make her watch as he reclaims his mate over and over again in front of her before doing the same thing to her. That he planned on getting them both pregnant as many times as he needs until they each give him the number of boys that he wants before finally killing them. The fire spreads throughout her body and a red glow encircles her body. Just then, Tobias steps into the field with a sinister grin on his face.

“Why here you are my dear Freya. I went to the castle looking for you, but nobody seemed to know where you were. Don’t worry. I managed to get it out of one of your guards before I crushed his skull.”

“You’re a sick bastard. No wonder my mother rejected you. You aren’t fit to have a mate or anyone to love you for that matter.” The grin falls from his face and is replaced with an angry expression.

“Oh, I see your powers are showing. Too bad they won’t help you against my dark magic. Now, are you ready to hand over the kingdom or will I have to kill every last one of you and just take it? Your hour is up so tell me your decision now.”

“You don’t take me as someone that is stupid Tobias. If we are out here, then it should be obvious that my answer is for you to go to hell. You’re not getting my kingdom, my mother, or me.”

“Death it is then. Have it your way. Oh, and you will be mine as well as your mother.” He turns from Freya and looks behind him. “KILL THEM ALL! I’ll deal with Freya myself.”

Wolves, Lycans, and vampires emerge from out of nowhere and start attacking. Freya and the others meet them on the field and start ripping into the enemy viciously. David tries to make sure that he stays close to Freya protecting her back if need be as he rips into anything that comes near him. The army in the trees are launching bullets and arrows at the enemy taking a good deal of them out before they can penetrate their forces.

Suddenly Tabitha appears with about five women cloaked in black robes and they all raise their hands towards the sky chanting. A black mist forms above them and they move their hands towards the trees. The mist floats on the wind and when it reaches the trees coughing and choking can be heard before soldiers start to fall to the ground dead. Freya takes a deep breath and centers herself before unleashing her powers. A strong gust of wind materializes and swiftly blows the mist back towards the dark witches, but they make it dissipate before it reaches them.

Tabitha laughs and the witches raise their hands again causing the ground to shake and splinter in some places making Freya’s team stumble and cost some of them their lives. David whimpers and so do some of the others as they feel the pack bond break with some of their teammates. Loud howls can be heard coming from the castle as their mates feel the mate bond die.
